As the title says why not because i can only see the benefits of all imperial vehicles being given inproved engines and it may even help win wars with the inproved mobility of the imperial armies.
So whats your thoughts?

Perhaps the technology to produce them has been lost and there's only enough of them to equip the Blood Angels.

I'm going to agree with bluntman. It's probably a point of pride for the BA that they have their own pattern of predator.

Or, to put that point a bit bluntly, they're stupid.

To be fair the pride thing does seem a fair point but would'nt it make more sence for them to put the needs of the imperium first (advance and old technoligys/STCs)also i thought by now the ad mech would have put togther some sort of repossetion army made up of gaurd and other space marine chapters to take it from the Blood angels for the good of the imperium.

Do the Flesh Tearers use this pattern of tank? Because if so, the Imperium may soon have a very good excuse to plunder it.

I believe that BA and all their successors have it.

I thought that they did share it with the Adeptus Mechanicus and it was they who decided not to distribute it to other branches of the Imperium.

If they haven't give it to the AM, the I'd guess it's probably because they want the bargaining power to keep getting access to their unique gear... if they just give everything away, they have nothing left for leverage if the mechanicus want to recall their Storm Ravens.

The BA codex mentions that they've been using it since the Great Crusade. My thoughts are that it was either a gift to their legion from the Emperor, or Sanguinius ordered that it be kept to themselves and the Emperor allowed it. Sanguinius wasn't really a selfish person, so I assume that they found it after winning a particular battle and the Emperor gifted it to them for their victory.

The Mechanicum doesn't understand how technology works. If it breaks, they don't know how to fix it. Odds are there's only one machine left that makes Baal Predators and it's on the world of Baal and it makes them with Blood Angels symbols and stuff.

I suggest skipping everything up into the why everything is so grim dark section. Sure, I know that it isn't 100 percent correct, but it does get pretty close to the fact. I would not share anything with the Adeptus mechanicus either.

No. Why, did I miss anything?

It's possible. The Blood Angels could have negotiated with the AdMech for some kind of exclusive contract, like the Ecclesiarchy did for the Immolator.

Any explanation seems tenuous outside of the confines of giving a extra-codex marines chapter unique character over the standard vanilla marines.

The Blood Angels have some long standing snit-fit with the Ad Mech. They arn't sharing the STC out of spite for a past injustice.

Well I read the Warhammer 40k Wiki, and it states that the Baal Predator, according to the Adeptus Mechanicus is not officially sanctified in the eyes of the Machine God. And that the Blood Angels and Successors keep the designs secret from EVERYONE.

No offense to you, but the 40k wiki is a terrible resource. There are little to no citations, and a large portion of the info found on it is simply made up.

This. Especially considering that the founder outright said that fan-made stuff is OK.

First of all, Astartes are rare. To see one in battle is even more rare. If you do see one in battle the world you are on is screwed because astartes are there.

The chances of other factions seeing or even knowing about the Baal pred is slim to none.

The Imperium as a whole doesn't need the Baal pred. There are several other vehicles that can complete the same roll on the battlefield.

It's still plausible, no? The Blood Angels and the Adeptus Mechanicus aren't the best of friends.

But I did find this, from a blog, about a Forge World newsletter

http://millests.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/forge-world-newsletter-312-predator.html

Failed attempts at copying the baal predator. The Blood Angels and Successors are stubborn and do not want to give the details of the baal predator.

Maybe the Baal Predator was a personal design by Sanguinius prior to his death, and the BA and Successors rightly so, refuse to give out the designs of the baal predator, in respect to their Primarch. Possibly this?

It's not like the Baal Pred is that important, considering there's spaceships that can destroy planets and such, though it does seem a bit selfish not to contribute to the Imperium's cause.

Its not the preds firepower itself its more the engines it uses because if the ad mech could replicate them it would benefit the imperium forces land vehicles which means a faster more mobile imperium which is always good.

"We need to differentiate the BA codex from the rest of them" might be the real reason, but is not a fluffy in-game one. Trying to reconcile the mechanical/business decisions with the world/fluff is always a fun exercise.
