Hi Guys

I'm just wondering what the next codex release will be. I'm thinking CSM but hoping for DA (how ever unlikely). Are there any others likely to come out, and also are there any guesses to the next codexes (codecii, codexii...) after that?

Thanks

The next two Codices are probably going to be DA and CSM, as you say. It looks like it's going to be Chaos first, although we don't really know. What's after that is anyone's guess, although Hastings, one of the more reliable rumor guys, has said Daemons in March 2013.

I just wish they would get on with it and do one a month so we can actually get all the codexes before 7th edition.

plus then there would be time for:

Adeptus Mechanicus
Some new Xenos race
Allies - Mercenaries, Renegades and Imperial Agents

That pattern doesn't exist. Just look at the Wikipedia page.

Going purely by the evidence from the newest WD issue, Codex: Dark Angels a higher chance of coming out since the back page has a giant picture of a DA Company Master.
Chaos Marines could still be first though, as the caption on the back page reads, 'The Battle Rages On!'

Point is, no one outside of the GW HQ knows for sure.

As for the next codicies to be released, going by the current rumors we have it looking something like;
October - Dark Angels or Chaos Marines
Novemeber - Warriors of Chaos
December - Xmas stuff + The Hobbit
January - Chaos Marines or Dark Angels
Febuary - I'd guess at more Hobbit stuff
March - Chaos Daemons & Daemons of Chaos dual release

Then later one followed by Tau, Eldar, Templars, High Elves & Lizardmen to round off the year.

Honestly, I feel that they're going to release Dark Angels first and give us Chaos players the middle finger.

Did you see the DA and Chaos models? There is no question who got the middle finger here. It's the first time I thought about starting new army. Those Chaos guys are just balls.

So since i really REALLY want a new BT codex i should just make one myself, and hope people will allow me to play with it? right now BT is a CC army that sucks in CC, and every time i field them my heart breaks from shooting my enemies from across the board instead of bashing their skulls in the way it's supposed to be. making 6th edition while i'm still stuck in 4th is kind of a dick move. anyone know when i can get a new codex?

Rumour mill is definitely saying Chaos. It was finished months ago, they bumped back its release to fit in the starter set.

I would say Dark Angels for October release considering the back page of the WD, hopefully Chaos November, then Hobbit for December.

Rather than pointlessly speculate, let's listen to Hastings, the guy who knows pretty well the upcoming schedule:

Chaos Space Marines: Preview late September, models on sale early October
Warriors of Chaos: Preview late October, models on sale early November.
Dark Angels: Preview late November, models on sale early December.
Hobbit: Late December.
Daemons of Chaos and Chaos Daemons combined: December/January
Tau, High Elves, Eldar, Lizardmen next, in the following order but without a date.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

They're not spreading disinformation, they just don't spread any information at all. There's a difference though.

CSM is the next Codex out, followed by DA, followed by Daemons, followed by Tau. I don't know after that.

I highly doubt GW will waste their most important release month by focusing on a tiny percentage of players while giving the finger to everyone else... GW's learned the hard way it's a stupid move to sink your release alotment into just one army at Xmas time!
Not to mention, they have The Hobbit to squeeze in there this year as well, and will still want their traditional big ticket items like the mega paint set, limited ed army figure cases, boxed armies that co-incide with the core sets, some giant terrain piece, etc...

And Hastings isn't 100% right all the time. This year alone has really thrown the rumor mongers for a loop thanks to the total information shutdown by GW due to The Hobbit product.

My heart want Chaos Marines for October, but right now my gut is telling me not to be surprised if DA's nab the first release slot since;
a) The new WD is promoting a DA Company Master on the back page.
b) The first codex for any new edition since 2nd ed has *always* been a Loyalist Marine codex of some flavour! (though technically Daemons were the first 5th ed codex last time around, so it's not 100% carved in stone!)

Wow...Chaos needs their codex more? Congratulations! That is without a doubt the dumbest, most ill-conceived, opinion I've ever heard. The Dark Angels' current codex comes off as a crappier vanilla SM codex! Meanwhile Chaos is loaded with special units, unique to them, and completely capable of designing a flavorful and fun list. DA can't pull of anything another codex can't do better and more efficiently. Secondly, as a "lifelong" wolves player, you should know the fluff well enough to understand that the relationship between the DA and SW is one of friendly rivalry, not blatant hatred.

No question at all is right! Chaos got the finger.

A lord, 6 power armour guys, 20 puny humans w/ crap guns and a big drednought.

Yet DA got a Master w/plasma, a tac squad w/ 3 plasma, 5 termies w/ AC and 3 bikers w/plasma oh yeah and a Libby. (Chaplain is a marketing gimmick and doesn't count)

Unless the new chaos rules make chosen the equivelent of terminators and a lord a powerhouse the Chaos forces stand no chance.

Turn one-

DA: PLASMA!

CSM: DEAD!

Fun game. Thanks for playing.

Edit: Forgot Libby and Chaplain

The box comes with a few scenarios for fighting with the contents, and generally you won't see a fight with every DA vs. every CSM dude going on. Even so, why should any of us care? If you're on this forum there's a good chance you'll be either expanding your army from the box set or adding it onto an existing army.

I will be turning the whole box CSM. The Fallen will make a great addition to my army using the DA figs.

The Dark Angel doesn't guarantee there will be a Dark Angel codex, it probably means Dark Angels will be tied in somehow. In my opinion it's advertising a battle report using the Dark vengeance boxset and the new chaos minis.

C:CSM will be next. I say this only because all the DA models in the Dark Vengance set already have rules. Tac squads, termies and bikes have established rules.

The C:CSM included in the box don't have rules. Hellbrute, Cultists and the wargear on the chosen suggest that these are all new units. GW will not (it would be stupid) to leave them floating about with only the DV playguide rules; without publishing the options ect. in Codex format.

So technically Chaos marines will never be released as they aint imperial or xeno lol. I kid.

I hope it`s Chaos but the back cover of WD throws that maybe a bit for the Dark Angels

Right... Because GW have never, ever done something like say, putting 'get-you-by' rules in WD itself or an additional panphlet.

The current evidence points at DA's being heavily featured in the October issue. It could a codex, it could be follow-up articles, it could be a model wave or even a combination of such things.
No one is actually saying right now, "DA codex confirmed!" or anything of the sort. But saying "CSM codex confirmed!" is kinda silly when the hint on the back page of the current issue has nothing what-so-ever to do with chaos. (and the rumor mongers aren't always 100% accurate either, as this year alone has proven! )

Chaos Marines may get their codex in October, but they may just as likely be waiting until the new year and their new units get the same treatment that Daemons just recieved in this past month's issue.

History also points against Chaos Marine here too, as the first 'official new edition' codex ever since 2nd ed has always been some varient of Loyalist Marine codex!

So would those be the new epic-ninja WoC that are so stealthy they missed their own release in the new WD issue entirely?!

Just a quick question; why is there no possibility of two codices being released at the same time? Would go great with dark vengeance and 6th ed in general, releasing the first 6th codices together as enemies.

Because then they'd have products essentially competing with each other at the same time. It makes more sense to space things out month by month so each release can get the amount of coverage in WD and sales required to make it work. A lot of people have a monthly hobby budget and if GW released books and models for two armies someone collected, they likely would only buy one and hold off til later; GW doesn't want you buying later once you've had time to think about it. I have no clue if they've ever done two codices in one month before, but at the very least I'm guessing it's an "If it ain't broke don't fix it" sort of situation, where they've never had an issue with it before so why change now.
