i have just started out with infinity to try and break away from gw and the cash draining system. i have got a rulebook on its way in the post and i have some figures..

i have
1 x Khawarijs
3 x ghulam infantry
3 x hassassin muyibs
3 x hassassin ragiks
2 x daylami
1 x lasiq sniper
1 x fiday

will i have enough to play the game ? and will i find all the stats and details for these figures in the rule book or do i have to buy the new Paradiso one as well.
thank you for any help anyone can give,
cheers

Hi there,
You will find all stats and rules for free on the Infinity Website. So you don´t have to wait for your book. Don´t got the rules for your minis in my mind right now, but I think you can play without problems with this number of minis...
Welcome to the game!

Oh god, three Ragiks That's kind of brutal. But yes, you have more than enough to play with!

i dont know anything about the figures .. i bought them based on the models i liked and a Hassassin Box set.
are Ragiks tough then ? i just liked the rocket packs and swords

also im used to playing wh40k... so i can only compare to this.. is there any army rosta sheets or reference cards for each unit ?

http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/downloads/ Here is where you can get the army lists.

To me (another new player) it seems more like combat patrol than actual 40k, but there are lots of summaries of the differences/similarities on Dakka that can do far better justice than anything i can do yet....

Ragiks are basically a deep-striking unit. Getting one dropped down in the right place could seriously wreck for your opponent. Getting three there... I'm not even sure where to start.

thanks CF.
would anyone here recommend any of the Bots, Bikes or Tanks. they are fairly expensive models but they look great ... my friends only have the boxed starter sets of PO and YJ.

I come from 40k as well and this article helped:

http://firebroadside.blogspot.se/2011/09/taking-leap-from-40k-to-infinity.html?m=0

It takes only a small amount of charitable reading to make the internet dramatically more palatable.

Any of the boys or bikes or tanks? I'd say all of them!
Let go of your 40k mindset. In Infinity every model is a viable option and has it's place in the army. Just go with the bot/bike/tank you like the look and rules of.

The models you've got should be worth around 250 points. If you want to compare it to Warhammer, that's around 1250 Pts.

There's a lot you can do with these models. And as others have said and is reinforced in the article - you can play with models you like the look of. There's no "must-include" and "never-include" like in W40K - Mandrakes, Decrapitator or Talos have no place in a competitive list. There's no such worry in Infinity.

Looks fairly versatile to me...
After a while maybe you'd like to start with the Hacking and maybe get some Remotes involved?

All the stats are also available online via the army builder:
http://infinitythegame.com/dt_army/
You can use it to try out making lists and then print them out.
Read up on the rules first though!

That's definitely a nice place to start. You have some fun advanced rules (link team, camo, advanced deploy). Yet, you don't have some of the more advanced rules like hackers, engineers, and doctors.

I highly recommend that you read as many combat reports as possible; there's a lot of rules that you can get a grasp of before you start playing.

Oh, and Ragiks are notorious as one of the most dangerous models to your enemy. But, using three in a list might be difficult to pull off.

Welcome to Infinity and enjoy!

Somehow, I don't feel like doctors are more adcanced than Combat Jump however, hacking definitively is. And to an extent, Link teams too.

You likely had it set to the "Haqqislam" list rather than the "Hassassin Bahram" list.

Which starter set did you buy, out of curiosity?
I'm guessing it was the Hassassin one, with some blisters filling out the rest but I want to be sure.

I don´t think that´s a silly way to start an army of Infinity. Choose the minis you like, you will find a way to use them right in your games. I got very addicted and now I´m planning my third army just because I love the sculptings...

is infinity distance, range etc measured in inches or c/m ?

Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

... Actually, both. Depending on which language of the rulebook/Pdf you get, it'll be either inches or cm.

And there are a few instances of the measurement being in CM when in should be in INCHES in the English book I think - be careful!

The movement table in the book and download rules is one place.

It's marked as "inches" but all the numbers are in cm.

For instance, bikes, which are listed as 20-15 and it should be 8-6.

Absolutely!

I think when you start out you should definitely go models > rules (especially considering that the rules can be rather opaque before you have started playing) - there is very little that you can buy that will be unusable, unless you go mental and buy something completely like 5 TAGs

ok.. soaking my 8 figures in isopropynol for a week and starting again.. got the colour scheme in mind and dedicated to the project. this will allow me to paint my new boxed set and read some rules

wish id known about this game system before i sunk the best part of £1000 into my necron army over the years.

im just blown away at the whole concept. I will NEVER buy GW again.
my friends and I are actually starting a Infinity game club and a hired venue bi-monthly to play. i suppose with the money we all save on GW we can afford a mortgage on a village hall
this really is the begining of the end for GW

Isopropyl acohol does not do so well as a paint stripping medium.
Nail polish remover with acetone does, but do bear in mind--acetone will melt the bases.

thanl you for your concern mate. iv been using Iso for about 2 years now. I get it delivered by the 3 litre bottle.. Isopropynol is the active ingredient in Nail polish remover. It doesnt melt normal gw plastic models or bases,
the only thing you cant use it on is GW Finecast as it turns them to goo.
Rumours were that this was one of the reasons GW are pushing finecast.. becasue once your painted it, its almost impossible to get off again so you have to buy the model again and they cant be sold on and re-painted.

Note, I said it does not work so well not that it does not work period.

It takes about a day for isopropyl alcohol to neutralize acrylic paint to the point where you can strip it off--longer if you primed the model.

Acetone nail polish comes off within 15-20 minutes.
