First we have the most popular guys! My steampunk sentinels:






The smokestack and engine assembly are made from the Empire steam tank kit. And most of the weapons are from war machine.
I'll get some more of my stuff posted as I get better pictures!

And which colors did you use for the metal? I'm looking for a simlar tone for some of my projects.....

@MrMerlin, the bases are made from greenstuff and the then some terrain pebbles i got at Michaels. Khemri Brown (baneblade brown??) to color the "cobblestones" with. I just spread the greenstuff out kinda thick and then get after it with a wet exacto knife. I mostly use testors mdel paints for my metal colors. I really like thier aluminum color. The obly exception is the gold-ish color. that was made from gold liquitex? (this might be wrong, could be galaria, its my wifes paint) acrylic paint mixed with a little water.

I really want to fix up the treads so they have some color, and right now my only idea is to drybrush silver/grey metal onto the tips to show wear and tear on the spikes and stuff.... any ideas?

Nice, like the scrollwork, adds a nice touch.

How about having the tracks painted? Maybe a red when they left the factory, and now the edges have been chipped. Not sure how good it would look, but I like the idea

These are brilliant what are you planning for the infantry? I have to say I think some Victrix or Perry conversions would fit with these guys brilliantly.

I've got a number of them done. I've been using valhallan and vostroyan bodies with head and some weapon swaps. I just need some pictures. I've got a couple of dudes in my gallery if you want to check those out until I have a chance to take pictures of the platoon.

I love this. Something I've seen before was a cannon swap on a Leman Russ with a Fantasy great cannon. Gave it a real baroque feel and looked perfect. I think something like that would add to the steampunk look of yours with little effort. Either way, great work!

Wow those smoke stacks look great, and I agree with merlin the cobblestone bases really look great and compliment the steampunk vibe =)

@alleton: Yeah I really like that bit, and i even have one sitting at home. Ive had alot of trouble making it look good though.. do you know where you saw that? maybe i can steal some ideas myself. I also really like the cannons from the chaos dwarf forgeworld stuff. I just cant quite justify buying a 50 dollar kit just to cut it up for bits.

My guess, warjack body. If so Cygnar, to primitive for Retribution of Scyrah, wrong style for Khador and Menoth, and looks like a light so not Cryx.

@Vik: Hey! I was hoping you might show up here, didn't you to think I was trying to move on any steampunk turf or anything. I really love your stuff and it's given me a few ideas. And yeah that's a cyngar light warjack body. I actually want to connect a chain to that small bit sticking off what would be the shoulder of the war jack. Give it a feel that the chain was holding the engine on.

@rawson: your vostryon Marbo model is frakkin great. I really might have to steal that. My own Marbo is less inspired. I'll get a pic of him up once I fix his face tattoo (looks like poo currently)

I think I'm too far into the russets to start switching out the barrels (three in various stages of completion), but I do have a baneblade that needs some steampunk inspiration.....

Thats pretty darn sexy...... the autocannon looks more WW1ish though but i wouldnt worry about that! nice work with the barb wire on it... i hope to see some more wire mabye on sum infantry bases or making that tank spiky

of the recent update by far is yet again the sentinel... and then the commander/general... he reinds me of an one-eyed santa

if i have to add a bit of nitpicking tho... then the barbed wire on the otherwise lovley HW base is a bit on the thick side... if you happen to get your hands on jewlers wire... it is way thinner then floral wire ...so thin actually that i use it also to unclogg my plastic glue muzzle...

oh and a request... could you show some better pics of these blue headed footsloggers? thanks in advance!!!

I agree with Vik about the wire, but at GenCon I learned about using Picture frame hanging wire...It already has a fine wire wrapped around a thicker one, then you use the thinner stuff for your wraparound barbs, it is surprisingly perfect in scale.

Problem is, I've only ever seen it in these expensive little hardware kits
