I wanna build to this, would it work well? My thoughts on the list, from this topic in the army list section.
2 Bloodthirsters, 3 Kitted out Demon Princes with Might, Wings, Ironhide, Gift of Khorne, etc)
I figure if I take all flyers, then the flying monstrous creatures can now deep strike down 1st turn on the back field, during say nightfighting, and be hard to hit. Then, turn two, change into flying mode and rush forward 24", running as well (yay running while flying!). The opponent has 1 turn to shoot them down whilst hitting on 6's. Yeah I have a chance of falling hard to the ground, but 40k is about taking risks, right? If they don't kill them that turn, then pretty much guaranteed turn 3 I switch 3 to 5 flying monstrous creatures to Gliding mode, jump 12 more inches forward for a total threat range of 40" to 60", where upon they crash into the enemy and kill whatever they hit. By then I should see some support Bloodletters and Bloodcrushers falling down too, to help pick up the pieces of the enemy and hold some objectives.
Maybe it sounds too ideal in my head, but I think that will work well, even against gunlines. I know that units like Storm Talons and other fliers will love to give chase to my FMC - and that' ok, that's what vector strikes are for. What I'm most scared about are Tau gunlines, which could be nasty with full squads markerlights and the like showering my DP's and Bloodthirsters with S5+ firepower. But hey, 1 turn, then they're dead.
------------------------------------------------
Really, it's just an excuse for a flying circus of 5 big baddies beating face with axes. But hey, wouldn't that be an unexpected army, in the wake of shooting superiority in 6th edition? They are supported by Bloodletters and Bloodcrushers.

The problem I see is you are counting on 3+ to get the right wave where 75% of your points are going to be, fallowed by 4+ for night fighting. Add in deep strike scattering and it is just a lot of risk. I assume you are going to jink 1st turn for the 5+ cover then hope night fighting makes it 3+ or more likely 4+?
A hoard army would be a bad match up as would a gun line and anything with mobility could keep you flying for an extra turn.
I think the list would be a lot of fun, I ran a fateweaver and nurgle flying prince list for fun a few times. but I don't think it will go as smooth as you think.

a DE list would be a pain. They ignore the nightfighting and can still hurt your MCs with their basic guns. They also can just run away in their skimmers keeping your flyers out of combat.
With that as an example I think you might run into some very tough fights.

You could decide to not go all khorne; then you could put in some flamers, horrors, or plaguebearers. The horrors and flamers would give you some shooting and the plaguebearers could take objectives. The plaguebearers would also be able to soak up damage the first turn if you have to deploy the wrong wave of your force.

As good as PBs would be for holding down objectives, they won't do much more. I think this list really demands small units of horrors with bolt to sit on objectives and fire away with S8 AP1 bolts. If anything, they will force your opponent to deal with them because of their shooting threat, which will take some of the shooting focus off of your nasty FMCs.

One thought from the other forum as well was that you can deep strike in as Gliding or Swooping (FMC's arriving from reserve declare which mode of transport they use), which means you can deep strike in Swooping, I'm pretty sure. Then, 1st turn you can start a lot closer if you want and benefit from Snapfire shots only. I'm still wondering about this, as it clearly would happen a lot and there isn't really a direct answer in the rulebook, but after inferring from different sections, I'd say you get to choose (which would mean FMC's deepstriking can always be in the air! Kinda makes sense when you think about it!).
EDIT: Yeah, I can see Dark Eldar being a pain due to shooting spam, but the great part about the list is it's only like 41 models total, so not too much to paint, collect or buy, it all looks impressive, imposing, and nasty, and is lots of fun to use. I originally collected a Tyranid army simply because of how cool the 1 flying hive tyrant was. I once dreamed of apocalypse armies of nothing but Flying Hive Tyrants. Now, to bring the equivalent of 5 in one army ... is too freaking cool to pass up. It would be interesting to determine the list's strengths/weaknesses vs different races.
As for skimmers running away, I suppose that's how you can position the 5 strategically flying around and hard to hit, so that no matter where he goes I can switch to gliding and reach him for a reliable assault move. It still would be a pain, though. I think Imperial guard would be fun - yeah, they bring the heavy weapons, but all those tanks and squads to smash into ... Space Marines, pretty much the perfect opponent, as every model in the army slaughters them in assault. Necrons I don't see being too much of a problem, their new vehicles are annoying and they bring some nasty units, but maybe their added dakka won't do as much. Eldar, though sneaky will be a squishy opponent, I think. The challenge wtih tau is the S5 gunline, perfect for tossing on the wounds; however, with some luck and strategy against any army, you can deny most of their shooting by getting into assault quicker. Orks would be a really fun fight, too, as would Tyranids.

I mean to say:
I think this list will be fun, but there are a lot of ifs. What if the wrong wave comes down? What if the enemy is playing a nasty green tide/nid horde that wants to get into combat as much as you do? What if the enemy is also doing flyer spam and shoots your out of the sky(yours arrive turn 1, his arrive turn two to blast yours to bits), what if the enemy is DE and shoots you down and outmanuvers you.
As for the Skimmer spam, you deploy 5 flyers, the skimmers then move 12-30" to get out of the way of most of them and focus all their shots on one or two of your MC, killing them.

Yeah, my one Storm Talon loaded out with Skyhammer Missiles and The Assault Cannon can get 7 shots on one MC at S6/S7. With Skyfire. Ow. And I have a buddy who runs 3 in his new SM army. Triple Ow.
Anyways, good to know what I'll be up against if I want to do it. I"m halfway there @ 1000 pts with a Bloodthirster, 3 Crushers, 20 Bloodletters and a Demon Prince, and I was half thinking of Chaos Marines for the other half (Demons Allied in with them), but we'll see - 5 FMC's might be awesome.
