First time ever taking a Landspeeder...never really used them when I use to play BA. In 5th I know most everyone took MM/HF combinations. Is this still the same? Or would Typhoon ML's + HB be a better choice now? Thinking maybe MM + MM even!
They still die horrible fast but I guess they still have their uses since their fast, have jink and can make their points back if they hit a nice target.

Well, the MM/HF combo is dual purpose and still one of the best ones. In the 6th ed, we'll probabily see less tanks and more infantry on foot. The HF can thin out hordes which is rather crucial these days since fearless units will get no additional wounds (if they lose) in cc.
The MM/MM combo is an option but it will depend on your local meta (tank heavy) if it's useful.
The Typhoon is a great speeder since you can hold it in the backfield and inflict damage from far.

Ml and HB make a nice combo, it's got decent range and firepower to sit back and shoot, also being fast skimmer it can shoot both weapons with no penalty when moving.
True they are flimsy but with the long range and speed combined with jink save they can surprise you sometimes with their longevity. Also with target saturation you may find they are not high priority targets.

Give him nasties on his deployment line and he will ignore the speeders while they hammer him

The question is what is lacking in the rest of your list? Speeders can be geared for a number of roles, and work well for all of them. MM/HF and Typhoon/HB are probably the most generically useful, but there are lots of options.

Oh please, assault cannon and heavy bolter all the way. Allows for easy infantry and light vehicle killy power, plus with tons of shots things will go right for you. Now that they can stay at the sweet spot of 24 inches and shoot everything, even after moving 12, these little guys are deadly, too bad they are fast attack slot though... and expensive.

I love the MM/ MM and HF/ HF for charging in and clearing out tanks/mobs. You have to use them for a dedicated role, and expect them to die, but they are fast and very deadly. The HB/ ML speeders are awesome for mobile fire power. It seems that it's better not to mix and match MM/ HF these days as that used to be done to maximize target utility when only one of the weapons would get to fire after moving. In 6th you get to fire both, so having two of one type of weapon maximizes efficiency vs your chosen target type. I tend to take them in singles as suicide speeders, or in groups of 3, with 2 kitted out and the 3rd used as a flying meat shield to absorb wounds on the squadron.
Hope that helps

The problem with assault cannons on speeders is you need to be in bolter range to use them. And you can be shot down by massed bolter fire. I have less of a problem with running MM/ HF speeders up, because the are much cheeper, and tend to be hunting high priority targets with the MM. For the points you spend on a AC/ HB speeder, I'd much rather have a Typhoon/ HB, and be able to hang back at a safe distance and take pot shots.
