I've just started a Word Bearers army and, to keep in with the general fluff i wanted a high daemonic presence in the army. I already have some chaos daemons allies, but i wanted some of the summoned, undivided daemons as allowed from the CSM dex. I decided that i would use the newly released incarnate fire elemental from FW (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/INCARNATE_ELEMENTAL_OF_FIRE.html) as a greater daemon, but i'm stumped as to what i should use as the lesser daemons.
I would love to hear some suggestions or ideas.

Warhammer Wood Elf Dryads?

Or wait a few weeks, as rumors say Lesser Daemons will be out, in favor of allying with Codex: Chaos Daemons.

Wood Elf Dryads are great base for a lot of conversions at the end of the day - made my Grotesques out of them.

Just watch out for their tiny feet and ankles.

I did consider using dryads or furies or even lizardmen. But none of them seem 'gribbley' enough

Either
A: They release new models which ensure it's goign to be included in the new codex.
B: He can use them as some other Daemon unit. They're Daemons it's not like they [i]have[/] to conform to some preset design.

One of the best Daemon Armies, if not armies, I have ever seen was made from part-melted styrene cubes.

Word Bearers are going to get a force organization chart most likely, and they might just get marked demons. No sense buying proxies now when he can just use the real things in a couple weeks.

Word has it that summoned demons are not in the new CSM book, so I would hold off on the purchase at least until the codex is out.

Dark Apostles can be split off as squad leaders
Chaplains
Daemonancer (Unit champion)
Summoning Daemons from the Warp, allowed re-rolls to scatter and new mishap chart
Can take Marked units but with restrictions
Turn 1 Daemon Summoning
Can only have 1 Heavy Support choice but get other bonuses to offset this
Possessed as Troops

Most of the rumours in that thread are sourced from the now-infamous ghost21 and TheDarkGeneral, and so are of dubious reliability. I believe TDG has been honestly relaying all information he has heard, which may have indeed come from early playtesting, but I don't think his rumours should be considered particularly close to the end result. Pretty much all recent, reliable rumours have discredited much of what is in that post.

Anyway, to the OP: I say hold off any major purchases until we have a clearer picture of what the codex will be like. Not just because they might not become usable, but also because you may find that you'll have better uses for your time and money when the codex hits.
