Made a YMDC post about the using Smash with DoG.

Just to see what people say.

Smash attacks can be done instead of a close combat attack. DoG allows an Close Combat attack.

I'm not seeing the issue.

Demons have the Bolt. For HT, I get you, but it's twelve TL str 6 shots. You're not exactly going to take out a vendetta with that (though you totally could, it you were dog fighting and got on his 6...rear armor) but it's still pretty nasty firepower.

Obviously they weren't thinking of flyers when they made most of the big Tyranid guns blasts, way back when. But the rule will still matter for the future.

It will mean a big change to Flyrant Builds. Standard used to be BS/LW and TL Dev. I think it will now go to 2x TL Dev for that reason.

Most people went for the Vector Strike and then shooting the rear armor before. The Lash whip was good for if you got grounded as if you get charged it made everyone I1. Gets you a chance to kill some models before they strike. I think that the utility of the whip will out weight the extra devourer, but it is REALLY close. I think it depends on if you are going anti-flyer or anti-ground forces.

How is this possible? If I understand correctly, the flyrant gets 1 turn at the beginning of movement and then moves in a straight line correct? I personally like the LW&BS build but only when I am going for psychic shooting so I agree with most of what you said, but if you can turn and shoot the back of a flyer then there is no better anti-air then a x2 devourer flyrant. 12 twin linked S6 shots with skyfire seems like one of the most reliable anti-air units in the game...definitely in the nid codex.

Just curious, as I want to make sure I play him correctly. This might make him more worth it for a couple of my lists.

FMCs can shoot in any direction, not just their current facing.

Oh damn, I never realized this. This just changed my tyrant from a 747 to a fighter jet...

I just got my book in last week (too poor to justify $80 for a book that is useless in a couple years) and I have only read it through once prior to receiving it...better give it another once over to see what else I missed.

Yes, getting rear armor on a flyer with a Flyrant should be pretty easy. You'll get 9 hits, on average, at which point they have to choose to jink or not. They totally should....because it will be 4.5 glances and pens. Nasty

You are forgetting the Ordnance rule. If you fire an ordnance weapon, all other weapons are snapfire. Lumbering Behemoth used to let you fire one additional weapon normally, now you can't. A couple of Russ variants improved with this, but for most of them, and your Demolisher, they got much, much worse. Why GW felt the need to take away a cool unique special rule and replace it with a USR that nerfs the tanks I do not know.

Ach, dang, that's all kindsa dreadful. Maybe the next FAQ will fix? Maybe?

Although I'm now thinking exterminator with plasma, slightly better? but no.

Still, hull points - good, nerftastic destruction of LRBT's individuality - bad. If they're going to cripple it with Heavy, at least give it 4HP...

Run a whole lot of wfrp and other rpg's, play The Woods and Kill Team, gather and look mournfully at imperial guard knowing I'll never finish enough to use them on the tabletop

You really think all that many players wait to play 6th ed until the mini-rulebook comes out? Myself, I never buy those starter sets. What am I going to do with 1/3 of 2 armies I don't play?

Lots of people either split starter sets between two friends or buy the mini-rulebooks online.

Uh....I don't think it's something that needs to be "fixed". They're streamlining a rule, and that's usually good. It helps some models in some situations, hurts them in others.....whatever. Don't put sponsons on your big guns anymore.

Yeah, I'd think it'd be good for the plasma variant.

Ok......why not just Deep Strike them normally? BT still had the old style drop pods anyway, right?

Speakign from GK with psycannons, I've never found it that hard to get to 24" first turn anyway.

With the 1st faq released after 6th we were able to do a normal drop-pod assault; which means that we were able to pod (with a 3 pod setup) 2 pods on the first turn with potentially 4 assault cannons in your face right away. That was fun. No more...

Orly? That's funny. That makes two changes (one buff, one nerf) that they then reversed themselves on 2 months later.

Seriously, do they THINK about these things before they publish them?
