The choice between the two is related to the game. As to content, No Quarter is really good for Warmahordes. As to the "Better", thats a matter of personal tastes I guess.
I like it as a magazine. It has more relevent content for warmahordes, but it is starting to be a little more self promoting, then it once was.
YMMV.

No Quarter is pretty good, although it is a Privateer Press-exclusive magazine, so if you aren't interested in any of their products, don't bother unless there is a spesific terrain or painting theme that strikes your fancy.
The No Quarter Page:
http://privateerpress.com/no-quarter
has a "No Quarter Plus" section, where you can read excerpts from every issue from NQ32 on (latest issue is NQ43, with NQ44 around the corner. I think the NQ+ previews are up)
It is about ninety to a hundred pages. A complete list of content can be found here:
http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?4313-Table-Of-Contents-For-All-No-Quarter-Issues
What you can expect is WM/H/Iron Kingdoms material in the form of fiction, background and history, articles on characters, warjacks/warbeasts, technology, archaeology, etc, with rules material here and there - some articles lean toward the RPG, some toward WM/H, some toward general background. There are also model and model rules previews, tactics and army building advise articles, painting and terrain articles, contests, and information about upcoming events. When they release other things - the Bodgers line games, Level 7, Monsterpocalypse, odd side projects or rumours on the computer game, you get some information on that, although the focus is very much on the Iron Kingdoms and the games therein.

As someone who has read both.
NQ feels like the old WD, It has good painting articles, Really good Terrain making stuff, and I genuinely like the fluff articles.
Keep in mind that it is just like WD in the way that it is there to promote PP products. So painting will be shown using P3 paints. and battle reports while good will show off the latest products.
Price wise NQ is currently $7.50 and there is no discount for subscriptions....
I hope that helps.....

Having bought both for a while now, I'd have to say No Quarter hands down, it's a good read, very informative, nice painting guides, and (SHOCK) it promotes the Hobby through DIY guides for terrain which I love.
It does have it's adverts, but it is a business, so they can't really be faulted for some adverts, as long as they don't go overboard and keep churning out great content
White Dwarf is a shell of it's former glory, hence why it's getting the reboot. I'll give it a chance again once the new release comes out, but thats about it. I want to like it, but until it becomes more than a catalogue with no care in the world for the Hobby, I can't see myself buying it every month like i once did, as much as i would like to.

this is like apples and oranges here...
if you like WarmaHordes, NQ is a great mag...
if you hate the game and minis, then the mag is pretty pointless...
same goes for WD...
if you hate GW minis, then there is no point I buying the mag...
if you love Space Marines, then there is no better bathroom reader than WD...
one big difference is that NQ comes out every two months, so you have to wait longer for your fix...
that's two WD mags for every NQ mag...
personally, I like both...
i don't play either game, but the pretty pics inspire me to paint...
i have NQ from issue #1, and WD from issue #75...
having never been a player, content is not as important to me as pretty pictures, and they both have a good amount of that...
cheers

WD has far more GW coverage than NQ.
NQ has far more PP coverage than WD.
They ae both equally useless tbh: the internet makes them obsolete.
No magazine could ever at this point match the variety, volume and accessibility of the web.
You have thousands of sites with wargaming content, be it terrain/painting tuirotials, fanfiction, photos, editorial/blog discussion, indistry rumors/sneak peaks, company forums, house/experimental rules, etc., etc.
All free for the most part...

Eventually, all current paper media will go pure web-distribution and then eventually end up as micro-transaction access professional websites, I suspect. But we're not there yet. I do not really think I can find what I find in a good (and it needs to be good) trade magazine on websites; they provide far more high quality content so far (depending on interest, of course) - painting advise perhaps being the exception. But only perhaps.

They do cover some GW and Forge World stuff, just not in the uncritical "adverts disguised as news" fashion White Dwarf does. They're quite deliberate about treating GW as just one games company of many.

Completely disagree with you on that one mate. Out of interest, do you generally read any magazines (not just wargaming, but on any other topic or hobby?)
I regularly buy at least one film and music mag a month, often something related to computer games. Thanks (I guess?) to the internet, the ones that have survived are generally a bloody good read. Articles, written by people who are paid to write and are good at it, well laid out and presented.
Some of my favourite relaxation time is putting my feet up after I get home from work, with a copy of 'Total Film', and having a laugh at the one-star movie reviews (amongst other things).
That was something WD used to possess - well written articles, that were interesting for their own sake, and satisfied the literary interests of the reader beyond just the general imparting of information. I completely agree that the internet rules the roost as far as simply 'I need to find x' goes, but I think those magazines that have survived have done so by moving to fill another niche of purchaser expectation.
If you read a copy of WD prior to 310 or so, you will see exactly what I mean, and how the magazine has slipped in the meantime. And it's not a coincidence that many of the magazines former journalists have since moved on to Black Library, the magazine became noticeably sparse with their absence.

I couldn't agree more. All wargaming magazines suffer from the same problem. When you start reading them you thing "this is great" and then over time they start repeating exactly the same content, but based on different miniatures. It doesn't matter whether it's WD, NQ or any number of historical mags. Our hobby doesn't really move on, in fact that's that's the point of playing with toy soldiers, so the content can never change very radically.
I say this as a buyer of WD since around issue 90, and of various miniature magazines over the years. At least the photography has got better during that time, and honestly, that's the main reason that I still buy them. Looking at great photos of beautiful miniatures still gives me a lot of pleasure.

Any magazine that is published by a company ONLY for their products is usually crap. They often end up being giant adverts.
Now if there was an independent Warhammer & Warmahordes magazine then it might be worth while.
One problem here is the competition of companies in this hobby. Most companies want you ONLY playing their games, because it means more money.
I look at other magazines to determine how good a wargame mag is. DRUM! or Modern Drummer are pretty unbiased. They have ads from every possible drum company, they review products unbiasedly from those same companies, and much of their content revolves around drumming itself and not products.
Wouldn't it be grand to have a wargame mag that focused on tactics and how to play instead of pushing new toys in your face for 80 pages?
