Maybe I missed it, but regarding the Squire mini: Are her arms supposed to be that spindly or is that part still WIP?

Here is the concept art, the limbs look to be about the same level of thinkness to me.

The jump from concept to model is awesome, but I did just realize that her sword arm is on the same side as her sheath..

That's because she never sheathes her sword. ALWAYS KILLING, ALL THE TIME!

... sorry, forgot we're not talking 40k in here.

Totally going to hop onto this thing. I've been waiting for it to come out since I heard about it on here. I played FFT far too much my freshman year of college. It got to the point that I was playing it in my dreams. Now I can play with miniatures that are from a similar style? Time to go coocoo for cocoa puffs.

I was exactly the same, though for me, Shining Force was my first.

saw the kickstarter while having lunch at work, jumped immediately onto the early bird dragoon level. May adjust pending how far we get. Though for a "first day" doing quite well actually!

I love the emergence of this type of game, for people who can't lug around 4 cases and a load of terrain to every venue.

I'm assuming a foldable map would be usable for those of us who have to commute every day of the week?

althouhg I have to come out and say it: I just can't get excited about the Sorceror fig. The adept and squire greens have me stoked, though.

Indeed! something from Gaming Paper as a cheap disposable map, or Chessex/Crystal Caste washable marker maps work great. You can draw on them, including numbers to indicate the height of a square (or a wider area, just putting a single number in a zone).

I would think heroscape sets may be usuable with a little rule tweaking (I think they're hexes) and heroclix maps would be perfect other than they are modern settings. Heroclix styled maps would be ideal as they are tactical and incorporate multiple terrain heights already. You can easily fold/laminate and role to transport as well.

I think the Dungeons and Dragons dungeon tiles would probably work pretty well, you could stack the small extra room tokens on top of the main ones to make "elevated" terrain as well. I only have the basic dungeon set, but I just looked them out, and it looks like they have a ton of different tile sets out now.

We had a very successful first day, with reaching over half our goal already!

We've also posted art of our first stretch goal, which will make the basic Earth Crystal Chest available as a reward choice. This chest includes the Earth Troll, Dwarf Gunsmith, and Beastmen Laborer.

Dwarfs don't need torsos, they have beards.

Is it bad that I want to hug the earth troll?

You need a beastman that has bird parts. Just sayin.

I'm pleased with how all three came out.

We've got additional Beastmen designs to do, i'll pass your suggestion on to Heath.

Nice water effect! I was wondering how it would come out.

LOL Matt, the current beastman is pretty dang awesome, too. This is a long running thing... my bird obsession is well known. The more bird and bird-like things, the better!

Backed! Best of luck to you on the rest, it doesn't look like it'll take long to be fully backed.

One note, the eyes on the archer are throwing me off a little. Doesn't look like she has eyelids.

Yes, her eyes bug us as well. She is still WIP, and Bob should have an updated pic for us later this week.

Bob seems to be a very procedural sculptor, the Valkyr for Brushfire started very limited in detail and turned out amazing.

I'm really happy to see some art for one of the trolls, and it looks great! Very creative take on it. I'm glad you guys didn't do "generic fantasy troll." I'm particularly fond of how much of a creature of myth he looks like, definitely fitting for a race that created others.

The beastman and dwarf are also very awesome! Good work guys!

Pretty nice stuff so far although I would agree the archers eyes need some work, feel like I'm gonna need a "Soft" potion if I stare into those any longer. Now considering from what game series this takes inspration from (amoung many of course) any chance were going to see some not-Burmecian's and not-Bangaa, I'd be very down for those.

The beastmen are our attempt to do those sort of weird animal-like creatures, the burmecians, the bangaa, the myriad of species from Suikoden, etc. Small variants might popup for the beastmen as we get the rest of them done, and what the future holds for other monstrous creatures? who knows.

The sketches for the Earth Chest just don't do anything for me at all and really put me off pledging. The first two sets were nice enough though. Good luck with the kickstarter.

You get to pick whichever chests you'd like to get, so if you just like the Air/Fire stuff you don't have to get anything from Earth, Water, Void, or Miasma.

Indeed I could, but it would make for a bland game.
