I was just curious what some of Dakka's best Challenges have been in 6th edition so far?

I hands down had my best Challenge last night. My Emperor's Champion challenged Abaddon and over 6 rounds of combat (so 3 full turns of melee) my Emperor's Champion came out the victor! Now granted, if Abaddon gets FaQ'd to AP2 than there is no away that would have happened....but it was quite the epic show down between the two, would not have won if it wasn't for a lucky Bolt Pistol wound on the charge in, and Abaddon wounding himself with his Daemon Weapon in the first round. From there it was a slug fest to see who hit their 1's quicker. I failed a single saving throw the entire challenge and I was able to reroll it from my 9 onlookers (I lost this ability by the 3rd round of combat...assaulted by daemons).

I've got a plain ole' Honour Guard Champ who has already taken down Ahriman, Belial, a Cybork Warboss, a Necron Lord and about 3 exarchs and a couple aspiring champions along the way... walked away every time. I have no clue how many dozens of rank and files he's butchered too.

Its not so much the challenges for me, its the insane streak this 1 W Init 4 guy is on.

A few weeks ago, I had a single Wolf Guard with a Power Sword and Combi-melta get challenged in 2 successive combats by powerfist wielding Blood Angels Assault Marine sergeants. That's 2 attacks, 50% chance to hit, 50% chance to wound. He killed both of them before they even had a chance to hit him.

I witnessed a 1 on 1 between Abaddon and Draigo. My guardsmen watched as these two went at it for 4 turns. Ended when Draigo walked away with one wound left. It was.......epic.

The best challenge I've had was my Librarian with a Power Sword against a Marshal (I think?) from the BT codex. The Marshal was going last and somehow the Librarian inflicted 3 wounds. He failed one on a 2+ save and that killed him right there. Statistically my Librarian shouldn't have killed him and should have been squished, by his Thunder Hammer. It was great.

Best challenge so far for me was my Jump pack Reclusiarch beating ass on a GUO!!! Granted, the GUO already two wounds knocked off of it from shooting, but it was still an epic battle.

My Marshal use to have something similar. He has yet to die in any 1v1 game, and the only game he had been felled thus far was a 3v3 where the entire enemy team of 4500 gunned into him. I guess that still counts though right?

Awesome streak though. I think someone deserves to be named!!

That sounds great! My EC was pretty epic but I have to imagine that the battle you witnessed was really one for the ages. Those guardsmen shat themselves just watching I'm sure. XD

Sounds like a job for Reclusiarch that is for sure.

Last time I played I had Fuegan get chared by 10 TH/SS Termies and Lysander.

Fuegan issued a challenge, he didn't realize I had eternal warrior, and accepted with Lysander. I managed to hold that entire unit up for 2 game turns, as well as kill Lysander and 3 termies before Fuegan went down.

Probably going to be hard for me to beat that one.

Right afterwards, my Stormraven got Mind in the Machined by his other HQ dude and the Dreadknight lost 2 wounds to perils from hijacked mindstrike missiles. The only damage he took that game.

My bloodthirster got challenged by a grey knights grand master... I thought " HA!! I have a 2++ save against your puny force weapon. "

Needless to say over the next 2 rounds he did 2 wounds to me... And I continued to roll snake eyes both turns... I have never been so ashamed of my die rolling skills...

Afterwards the same grand master who downed a bloodthirster failed to wound my tzeentch herald on a disc. I sponged up 16 wounds before the brave bugger got sucked back into the warp!

I recently had a random sergeant defeat Abbadon. He charged into my blob with some chaos termies, decided to challenge the commissar to remove stubborn, my sergeant says "No sir, I got this" Runs up to Abbadon who roars in pain and stands still (he rolled a one on his deamon blade and failed the save. So hes down to two wounds) The Sergeant then swings his power Ax hitting Abbadon 2 times. I roll the wound and somehow get 2 wounds on a 5+. Abboadon then rolls a 1 and a 3 failing both saves, and falls over dead. The Sergeant then steps back in astonishment, then gets gutted by a chaos termie. (I still lost the assault but held on due to stubborn, and that Sergeant was one of the closest models to the termies in my assault phase)

There's this GK player at my local store. I hadn't played him yet but everytime i see him he always starts talking about how he would crush my list with his draigowing. Seriously every single time i'm playing a game i hear "oh you wouldn't have been able to kill that unit if you were playing me" and annoying stuff like that. Being the nice guy that i am, i just was like "cool, we should play some time"

So we set up a game.

Second turn my Bloodthirster crushes into the pile of paladins and Draigo. All of the sudden there is Draigo vs. a Bloodthirster with blessing of the blood god in a challenge. Draigo couldn't come close to wounding my Bloodthirster because fatey is sitting 6" from my bloodthirster outside of the combat. The whole time while fateweaver is picking off paladins with boon of mutation. Draigo didn't last two rounds and the bloodthirster didn't take a scratch. 2+ invulns, re-rollable because of fateweaver.....

Literally the most satisfying thing i have ever experienced. He wanted to kill me and i was like, "oh sorry i thought draigo was supposed to be good against daemons."

Best.

the best challenge so far for me was when Sicarius had challenged shrike. the battle lasted 3 turns, and even though it seemed onesided (shrike has a 3+ armor save, cato has a 2+ and FNp) it was a pretty awesome fight. Shrike kept getting rending past cato's iron halo but it was stopped a couple times by feel no pain. ended in both guys killing each other in the final turn

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."

Good stuff but if he is acting like that you should sit him down and have a talk with him about manners. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior and it shouldnt be allowed to continue. That said i doubt he is going around spouting off quite so badly now .

I've had a couple. I had Lysander just destroy a unit of paladins(before the latest FAQ) just challenging every turn and killing the squad over 5 turns. And my second favorite challenge was vulkan ate a blood Angels Libby and sergeant while a squad of assault marines couldn't do a thing(he then proceeded to eat the squad while only taking 2 wounds total.

Random Tactical Combat Squad, just 3 bolters, flamer and Sergeant (Chainsword/BP) led by Vulkan charges 5 Choppy Death Comapny with Lemartes. I charge (and survived). Sarge challendges Lemartes, tanks all the Int 5 atacks (or Int 4, but doesn't matter) and deals a wound in return. Lemartes gets MAD. Tanks those as well. Then its spoiled because his partner brought Draigo and 5 Halberd Pallies into it. Talk about gun to a knife fight. Only the gun was more a Nuclear warhead and the knife a safety pin.

Besides that I actually haven't had a good challenge. The few people I get to play my age dislike assaulting because the read the internet which says assaulting sucks.

I did have one good one right at the start ofthe summer. Hive Tyrant, walking, Bonesword, Lashwhip, Armoured shell, every upgrade possible bar Toxin Sacs. Charges a ~8man Paldin squad with Grand Master with, IIRC, Daemon Hammer, all the grenades and the regular gak. So as you would expect, the GM accepts, beliving himself to be invulnerable. I then whiff the first round and actually take 3 out of 4 wounds in return, and fail my Regens next turn.

At the end of my turn, however, Toxic Miasma kicked into effect and 1out of 7 Paladins around me flatlined.
I then ROLF stomped the GM so hard it wasn't even funny (literally 4 wounds from 4 attacks, even with the rerolls) and the Paladins fled a massive 10" to the oardedge and regrouped, opening fire on my Tyrant but thanksfully doing naught, and botched the charge.

On my turn it was hilarious. My previous consolidation left me on 4" away from them. A HVC here, Iron Arm and Warp Speed rolling 6s there, 7 dead paladins.

One of my best challenges was Pre 1.1 FAQ when a shield drone accepted Drazahar's challenge and held him in combat for a couple of turns while my rock-em sock-em crisis suits punched Incubi to death after the Incubi failed to wound.

In a game four days ago, my IG Veterans intercepted an FW squad, but failed to do any damage by shooting and the counter shooting left only a single Veteran and a power axe wielding Veteran Sarge from the squad. I charged the FW in return (the Veteran died from Overwatch), and challenged their leader. So, the 11 FW formed a circle around the Sarge and the Shas'ui cheering for their leader to beat the filthy human. The Shas'ui scored two wounds (thankfully to the moral support) but I saved both wounds.... And the Sarge easily slayed the surprised Shas'ui with a swing of his power axe. The FW squad then broke and was annihilated by the lone hero. That challenge was quite EPIK.

Techmarine vs. Daemon Prince. Techmarine wins over 3 turns without taking damage. A 2-wound character with 5 S8 AP2 attacks and a 2+/3++ Save can go surprisingly far.
