I very much dislike this suit.
That being said, I doubt this remake will be any worse than Robocop 2 or 3. I still won't watch it though.

I can't see that pistol coming out the thigh like the old one. The new one looks like it probaly shoot his twins off and a big toe.

Will the remake suck? Probably. Will it suck as bad as the original sequels? Probably not.

The new suit gets everything wrong. RoboCop isn't a sleek, stealthy supercop. He's an awkward, blunt force answer. That's the whole fething point of the movie. Faced with a collapsing social fabric, the answer isn't to invest in communities and back the police on the streets with proper resources, but to task a corporation with building a ludicrously impractical, violent solution to the problem. So this looks like being the second Verhoeven remake in a year that somehow completely missed the parody elements of the original. I can't wait for the Showgirls remake that doesn't recognise the original was telling the story of some deeply fethed up skanks.

It's funny, Verhoeven movies usually have really really really blatant messages, yet they always fly over the heads of Hollywood Executives.
Look at Starship Troopers. It was a cheesy action movie that made the semi-fascist soldiers of the book into OTT fascist Nazi soldiers. Yet the sequels play this OTT concept dead straight.

Red Dawns coming out soon! Looks like gak. This suit looks like a cheap made for tv suit. I'm going to guess its a prototype suit or maybe his base suit that the real suit gets put over so they can sell 10 different versions of the toy. Night attack robocop, urban fighter robocop, just like they do for batman and Iron man.

Am I the ONLY person on the planet who didn't think that the new (gak - tastic) Robocop suit looks like Batman on the cheap? My first thought was "How did OCP manage to rob Tony Stark's vault, and can I help Marvel sue this mockery out of existence?"

Are they doing that because they think a bionic look will help the social commentary they want to make, or because a super cool super policemen will appeal to the kids?

While that is a great reading of the original movies, I don't think it speaks to the ongoing relevance of RoboCop. After all, the social fabric is still unraveling -- but the face of deterioration is no longer mid-80s street warfare a la Predator 2. And the bald-faced corporate greed of the 80s has been embraced and smoothed down. A 2013 RoboCop will be facing Occupy protesters rather than coke-barons.

Gotta say I'm not a fan of the new look. If it was some kind of undersuit that the armour attaches to then fair enough, but as is it just doesn't have that bulky, bulletproof, walking tank feel of the original.
I'm also in the 'doesn't need a remake' camp. Please, hollywood, for the love of (insert prefered deity) leave well alone.

No - I thought the second one was alright - but the third one was definitely GAK - that's why I've never bought Robocop on DVD as I've only ever seen it as a box set of three and I wouldn't want the third one.

Nope, not likimg the suit. Don't know why no. Not a bad looking design per say, but just not feeling right. Helmet doesn't realy go with it. Looks more like some hi-tech boday armour to me. Reminds of some stuff I used for a character in Daz 3d (see below)

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

I wonder if the suit in the pic is simply the "body suit" that goes underneath a bulkier set of pieces that make up the full costume?
