Friend of mine might or might not get into this hobby, he plays dawn of war (in fact showed me the game all these years ago), he REALLLLLY likes the CSM and especially Khorne.

He really wants to drow enemies in Zerkers and expressed the idea of taking bloodletters as allies, so questions:

1) Appart from Zerkers, what units should he get (I told him about Kharn and I am pretty sure he's going to get him if he commits), I am mostly talking about anti-tank support

2) Is the Bloodletters role the same as Zerker?

3) While he wants to drown enemies in Zerker, would taking smaller unit size in Rhino be a better choice?

4) He likes possessed too? I heard they got pretty good, are they worth getting over the Zerkers?

5) For the Demon allies, Bloodthirster or Demon Prince?

1: Mainstream khorne list is usually:
Kharn, zerkers, possibly dreads and termies and then just transports.

2: Pretty much a zerker with a power weapon and a 5++ save instead of a 3+

3: 10 in a rhino tend to work fine most of the time.
Atleast they get some cheap movement and dont take too much fire before assaulting.

4: They are bad, plain and simple.
Slightly better than before, but still terrible.

5: A daemon prince can be upgraded to be a thirster pretty much, but i'd simply take the thirster as its a bit cheaper after all the upgrading and still panics most players.

1- Kharn is pretty good but try a MoK lord on Juggernaut for flavour. Still get Zerks as troops but you get a T5, 4W, A4 Cavalry bloke and with a Daemon Weapon that can hurt fast.

2- They are different. Zerker axes are only AP4 so Bloodletters can perform an anti MEQ niches.

3 Each has their perks. Lots of AP3 Templates will kill foothordes but a lucky Lascannon can stop a unit or even army right in its tracks, plus you'll have to spend a turn out in the open.

4- They can be hit or miss. Rolling AP 3 attacks makes them decent MEQ killers, Warpspeed makes them fast enough to tackle most things and I Daemon makes them survivable. However the lack of scoring and randomness really hurts them.

5- You'll need an HQ so Bloodthirster.

He also spotted a nice chaos predator destructor, so autocannon and hvy bolters sponsors, is that a solid choice?

Thanks to the new codex kharn and the zerkers have become the "diet coke" of their former full sugar selves.. i had a heavy zerker army running 2x squads of 10.. thanks to new codex those squads have 10 less attacks each .. poor show.. poor show indeed :(

Dont forget that you can take mark of Khorn on other units aswell.

I prefer the Khorn Bikers myself. 250p (ish) for 10 bikers hitting like a truck!
You also have raptors, terminators, cultists and normal marines.
Don't get fooled with the Zerkers as troops. They are killers, not objective holders.

If you are looking for some allies, I would recomend the blood crushers.

If he really wants to hurt some people is take Abaddon instead of Kharn to make chosen troops and use Chosen as your "Berzerkers" who will out preform them in almost everyway except be hitting on 4's with one more base attack each. That, and they gain access to special weapons, so you could throw some meltas into them, pop a tank then assault what comes out with re-roll to charge distances. As for an ally HQ definitely the Bloodthirster. You can take a DP as a heavy slot but at that point it'll be slightly cheaper than the monster that is the Bloodthirster.

Funny thing, he spotted a nice Nurgly army on Ebay, for 400$ instead of 1023.5$.

He did mention to me before that Nurgle would be his second choice.

The army in question has 2 rhinos, over 50 plague marines, Typhus, a land raider, bikes, 10 csm and demons (prince, GUO, plaguebearers) of Nurgle.

So he might get this one instead, so I just want to make sure, Typhus unlocks PM as troops, right?

Correct Sir.. Typhus lets you take Plague Marines as Troops

Best things is for your friend to pickup the codex and see what he likes... you can then build an army around this. I think one of the cheapest ways of building a chaos army at the moment is picking up some of the Chaos parts of Dark Vengeance... as the market seems flooded atm they go for peanuts on ebay....

He really likes Khorne, Nurgle's his 2nd favorite and then Tzeentch, he told me he'd like demon as allies and its obvious he'd prefer god-related units.

If he likes Nurgle tell him to look into Epidemius because he can make Nurgle CSM really really good.
