Besides, when the sculpts start appearing, resolve tends to buckle. I'm dreading any sort of Atalantes reveal...

Dude, I have so much Mierce already it's borderline shameful. And I even have two mostly painted factions.....

Nope. Eirann is it for now.....

If I ever get into Darklands proper (rather than just buying minis to use for fantasy / etc from Mierce) it would definitely be with Érainn. Everything for that range, save maybe some of the trees which are easy to use alternates for, has looked stunning!

With fantasy re-releasing about the same time, it will be interesting to see if the rules here can gain traction... I'd certainly be open to the idea, although I'm hoping fantasy rocks and I can continue buying from Mierce as I always have, just for the pretty models . But it will be nice to have the options!

Mierce's human sculpts have been really top tier lately. Impressive stuff, and I don't particularly care for human figures, so that says something.

I'm afraid I don't see Agriosavra on his giant monitor lizard soon I may just cave and get the giant mole rat thingee instead. Back cracker or whatever it was called?

Ended up with enough rat stuff as it is with the first Banebeasts campaign.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I spent a lot of the last 3 remaining days to get in on the deals being listed as available from Mierce to stop myself from buying in to the Kthones line, as I really liked what RiTides had done in putting together an alternate force of Gators for a Hordes Minion crew.

You didn't make things easy, RiTides... Not easy at all.

I have a lot of the Ysian stuff (except for a lot of the overly sexed up miniatures, and some from the kickstarter prior), and will also grab some Jutes because they look great, and I do want a Game of Thrones White Walker army at some point, and their undead would fit the bill superbly for that...

Wait till you see what Ramos Asura does with painting them (he hasn't gotten started on them yet, but is hoping to have them ready in August!).

Aaaargh! And like you, I'd be making my own scratch built War Engine to go along with them too, but not the same idea that you had though, yours is still brilliant!

Question, do you have any idea what size the Gator Kthones foot troops are going to be? Are they to be much larger than the Minions ones? Just wondering, as they'd also make a great stand in if they are of comparable size.

A lot of PP's stuff is great, but Mierce's sculpts are really hard to beat...

All the current Krokodar are on 60mm bases and are probably just as tall.

They tower over both wrasslers and posse members. They're really big boys.

So big in fact I had hoped Mierce would have considered doing a gator brawler in their Banebeast line, using one of the Khthon as a base.

Totally would have sold. I should have mentioned that repeatedely in the comment section. Oh well. Next time, right?

Wave 7 being closed on Monday. Wave 7 being a combination of KS2 (First Edition), KS3 (First Edition II), KS5 (New Kindreds) and KS6 (BaneBeasts)!!!

With the shipping of Wave 7 items from our fantastic Kickstarter projects Darklands: First Edition, Darklands: First Edition II, Darklands: Monstrous Mounts and BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters occurring very soon, it is time to let you know that all that ALL Wave 7 items will be removed from their parent Kickstarter categories on the Mierce Miniatures website on Monday, the 22nd of June at midnight (GMT) - so you'd better get your skates on to order those Wave 7 items, because they'll be gone soon - and you'll never get them cheaper!
What's Being Removed?

There's quite a few miniatures being removed from the webstore, including the cracking infantry units for the Angelcynn (Gesith) and Érainn (Men of Clochar), the superb Mórannach and loads of huge BaneBeasts!

You will only see these items in the webstore if you have backed their parent project, of course, but if you do wish to join in to grab them, simply reply to this e-mail requesting access and we'll sort it for you.

The following items will be removed from the Mierce Miniatures website on Monday the 22nd of June:

ANGELCYNN: Wolfborn, Gesith Unit

BYZANTII: Bareheaded Quintus Crito

ÉRAINN: Cormac of the Red Hand - Nuala - Masked Nuala - Araigh - Men of Clochar - Mórannach

After June 22nd, you'll have to wait until Wave 7 items are released!

If you don't purchase any Wave 7 items you'd like by June the 22nd, you won't be able to purchase them again until they are released to the general public, and - depending on the miniature involved - that could be for a long while yet! Plus, they'll be at full price of course.

Oh this isn't going to be easy I cant afford everything I want from this wave.

I'm rather torn

I could get Khallas but I'm still waiting for my Dawn of Khthon unit and for Archer Sthena to be sculpted to lead them.

Or I could go for some Erainn's
Men of Clochar
Nuala
Mórannach

and then pick up Caitrín to lead them from wave 8

Looks like poor Thacaldān is going to loose out either way but I will be picking up Mildryth from wave 8, not sure what I'm going to do with her but she is lovely.

Hmm choices choices

June release for retail and trade

Oghurs, Men and Insane Beasts

The June releases are here, finally - and these twelve new miniatures are amazing! From both Darklands: First Edition and Darklands: First Edition II, these twelve represent the eighth and second set of releases from those projects respectively.

For the Albainn, we have their first unit - the Oghu Guardians, a unit of big lads called the Oghur; the Angelcynn get their first Werwulf, Hrōr, a Thegn; the Brythoniaid get the combined Urien on foot and on horse pack; the Fomoraic get themselves Mananaan on his horse; the Khthones gain another Hydrar, a Warchief this time in the snakey shape of Hanokh; the Norse have a foot and mounted pack for Knútr; and finally, the Ysians gain Akkaz, a Hound-Aberrant that is quite likely to rip your head off.

Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release, but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.

Oghu Guardians, Oghur Unit

This month brings another unit, and the first unit for the Albainn. It's the Oghu Guardians, five Oghur (Grubog the champion, Pabogg the banner bearer and three warriors, Drudd, Skrugadd and Undagg) that can go toe to toe with pretty much anything! Sculpted by Olivier Bouchet from the artwork by Thomas Mahon, the Oghur are a powerful monstrous infantry unit and a real boon to any Albainn general.

Hrōr, Werwulf Thegn

The amazing Hrōr is a fantastic sculpt by Stéphane Camosseto from the artwork by Des Hanley. He's our first Werwulf (man-wolf) - monstrous infantry that is larger than a man, but smaller than a Wælwulf - and whilst they are becoming wild and feral, they still wield weapons and bear armour. A very useful trait!

Urien, Teyrn of Môn on Foot and on Horse

Here we have the first "foot and mounted" pack for the recent releases of generals, for this enables you to save a bit of cash and get both forms. Urien of the Brythoniaid is the first to get the treatment, and he was sculpted by Juan Navarro Pérez from the artwork by Dan Warren.

Mananaan, Untain of Baalor on Horse

Following on from last month's Mananaan on Foot release, here's Mananaan on Horse! Sculpted by Pedro Fernandez from the artwork by Stefan Kopinski.

Hanokh, Kentarch of Ýdron

It's Hydrar day again - the Khthones gain another three-headed, crazy leader, this time Hanokh, a warchief of Ýdron. Sculpted superbly in 3D by Olivier Nkweti, from the amazing artwork by Beth Hughes!

Knútr of Víkin, Skipari of Hrafnen on Foot and on Horse

Another foot and mounted pack, saving you some money! This time it's Knútr of Víkin, and he was superbly sculpted by Allan Carrasco from the artwork by Danny Cruz.

Akkaz, Hound-Aberrant

A crazy two-headed dog beast drawn up by Danny Cruz, Akkaz is yet another insane creation for the Ysians. Sculpted by Aragorn Marks, the Hound-Aberrants are fast, deadly - and feral!

All of the releases above were officially released on the 6th of June 2015, and so you can order them right now.

Watch out for the July releases, which should be unveiled in the next week or so!

The Photoshop work on those pictures bothers me, but they look like really nice models. Knutr in particular looks really nice.

I'm impressed with just how much of that base Mananaan fills up with his horse.
Guy is huge, his horse is huge... look how much space they take up compared to someone like Knutr or Urien.

Not sure what they feed those Fomorians but they grow them big under the sea.

Happy to know I've got a box of Mierce waiting for me when I get home.

Now, Hror looks good. Why didn't the other werewolves look that good?

I've got to ask, is fulfillment already starting on this stuff? When am I actually supposed to get the whopping two figures I ordered through the pledge manager? I'd ordered a werewolf warrior and a Jute warrior. I've not heard anything out of Mierce though about them.

Don't know, but it's probably worth an e-mail or message to them for a final answer.

Barzam wrote:I had ordered Siweard, Werwulf Warrior and Wihtwald, Wiht Thain on Foot. Both listed as wave 7 on the site.

Siweard is from Eoric's Pack and they're undergoing revisions as of 2 updates ago, mainly to their faces.
Wihtwald hasn't been started yet - Aragorn Marks is scheduled to do him and he's currently re-working the Barrow Spider.

Reckon you'll be looking at Wave 8 for those as Wave 7 is due to start within the next few weeks.

What was the problem again? That he was overpriced during the kickstarter? I noticed a lot of the first edition kickstarter prices were more than the price at release. Bagseg is another offender, 30 pounds during the campaign, 23.74 now.

More or less - I think?

Hror was priced the same as the larger beasties - I think maybe as if he was going to be on a 60mm? Or was that a 50mm?

But then it turned out that he was 'only' on a 40mm base.

Rob hinted that he'd address this/take care of those who ordered Hror in...some fashion.

I've PM'd him to see if the solution as been determined yet!

Either way, it isn't a big deal - the Hror figure is really cool after all!

There's one last thing to tease you with before we go...

Book the date, people - the first Darklands Kickstarter project since September 2014 - almost a year ago - begins on Tuesday!

More of the Pig-Bog... and Metal Age

The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Gautier Giroud;
•a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6 shipments have begun;
• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

We've just the one update for you again this week, from Gautier Giroud...

Gautier Giroud is really moving with Beb on Pig-Bog because Beb himself, the Nithing rider, is getting some treatment!

We're hopeful that he'll be done for Wave 8!

Wave 6 shipments have begun

We've begun sorting shipments for Wave 6 items, but there's a lot to send for this project so please don't worry if your order is in a "packing" state for a while - Tim's moulding pile is getting ever larger! We hope to crack on with those in a couple of weeks.

Tim's Off
Our master moulder, Tim, has had a double hernia operation and - whilst he is back at work - we have to be careful, and so he is taking things a little easy at the moment. Moulding drives everything - the moulds only last so long, and then Tim has to re-mould - and, of course, he has to mould new miniatures, too. Regardless of when he is back, Tim's health is more important and he must not be rushed back to work.
We estimate his operation has cost us around a month, in terms of how long it is taking us to send things. Whilst Wave 7 is underway (there are a few things moulded already), we doubt anything major will be sent until the middle of July.

We will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.

Werwulfas and Shadows and Metal Age

The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.

This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Stéphane Camosseto and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

We have some completions for you this week - the completion of a Shadow-Drune from Stéphane Simon and the completion of five Werwulfas for Eoric's Pack from Stéphane Camosseto!

It's been a while in coming but the fantastic Eoric's Pack, Werwulf Unit is finally completed by Stéphane Camosseto - and they're awesome!

The unit champion, Eoric, looks fantastic with his new head!

He's certainly got that wolfy snarl...

The unit's banner bearer, Sigebald, looks even better...

...thanks to his new head!

The herald of the unit, Heoruvard is belting out a big howl...

...his pose is a bit awkward to be able to see his new head properly, this is the best pic to show off his ears...

The first warrior, Rædwulf, looks even better than before...

...and he looked great then!

Wealdhere's got the treatment too - a new head!

There's still a couple of things to tidy up but Eoric's Pack is done - and they should be a Wave 8 shipment!

Stéphane's now completed Kitto and he looks fantastic!

The dynamic Kitto is complete!

With Stéphane's speed, the Shadows should be done for Wave 8, we think.

Either not sure that the new heads are an improvement over the original sculpt. Now, they look a bit too large for the body. Might look better once the pictures come in resin, though. I sitll have hopes.

Update #72 ℹ Jun 26 2015

Ogres, Crocodiles and Men - and Metal Age...

The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Olivier Bouchet, Roberto Chaudon and Yannick Hennebo;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here we go...

We've miniatures from different kindreds for you all today - for the Albainn (by Olivier Bouchet), the Jutes (Yannick Hennebo) and the Khthones (Roberto Chaudon)!

Olivier Bouchet's been working hard on Gudhlagg and he's now complete, and looking stunning. He'll be a fantastic general for your Albainn host!

Gudhlagg will be a Wave 8 shipment!

The amazing Yannick Hennebo has produced another masterpiece in Mildryth. There are no words to describe how we feel about this lady...

Here's a close-up of Mildryth's garseax blade...

Mildryth will definitely make it into Wave 8. Rejoice!

Roberto Chaudon, fresh from the stunning Geraint Nerthol on Ceffyldraig, has almost completed the first verion of Srók, Frenzied Srók, a Krokodarch for the Khthones (there's a couple of issues with the head to sort before we can sign him off).

The results are entirely predictable, for Roberto seems to get better and better and better...

...and as you can see, he's a big fella!

Frenzied Srók has been sculpted first as Srók has a helmet, so once he's done and cast, Roberto will convert him into Srók. Regardless, we reckon Frenzied Srók will be a Wave 8 shipment!

A Plague Demon, and Darklands: Metal Age..

The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Tim Prow;
•an idea of what will ship, and when;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

We've a work in progress shot to show you this week by Tim Prow - but we do have word of Gary Morley's progress; he says he's just about got the dragon conversion done, and is working on the Elves now - and the Orcs are in progress. We're hopeful that pretty much everything from this project will be ready in July, but we'll see. Certainly, Tim Prow's work will be done and he can move on to BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux!

Tim's last work on this project, the Plague Demon and his upgrade, is about half-way through, as you can see...

We're very hopeful that the Plague Demon will be done in time for Wave 8!

I couldn't find Rob specifically saying that their wouldn't be another KS until the rulebook is complete but you would think that would be the case. Summer 2015 is officially here and I haven't heard anything about the rulebook shipping out. I don't see how its possible to manage a KS and get the rulebook out this summer. Its frustrating because I think their KS's would really take off if it were released and a bit more caught up in sculpting.

@Zed - it wouldn't be a BaneBeasts project then... no Darklands miniatures will be a part of it, sorry.

We got a lot of feedback from NK along the lines of "no more Darklands projects until the book is done" and, to be fair, I'm in agreement; and I'd like to close off a couple of Darklands projects before the next one, too.

so they are listening, but they clearly see the banebeasts stuff as separate from the Darklands stuff (and to be fair the sculptors they're using is taking the art in a different direction)

So...yeah.

Not sure what METAL AGE is but...this is a bit...disappointing.

I asked!

Alpharius 12 minutes ago

Srók is awesome and I'm glad I've already got him - and The Slaughters - on order!

But...weren't we told 'no more Darklands' until the book is done?

Does this mean...the book is done?!?

That would be great news - and you should definitely lead with that news!

The rules will be downloadable shortly in full, although diagrams, graphics and fluff aren't done yet. As for "no more Darklands until the book is done"... you'll understand more when this project goes live.

Oh geez, those changes to the werewolves made them look even worse! Now their heads are seriously way too big. After seeing those, I'm really starting to regret ordering one of them. I sure hope the undead guys impress, because the werewolves sure as hell aren't doing it.
