I guess since there is no ruling for Lesser Daemons in the new Chaos Codex it's safe to say that they are no longer allowed within the army unless taking Allies? </3 8'(
I was very much looking forward to Bloodletter spaming a group of Raptors or Warp Talons in my enemies Diployment Zone.... I guess I should have seen this coming when they removed the Icons abilities to remove scatter when DSing units on the board next to units with Icons.... =/
What do all the Chaos players think about this?>

Lesser Daemon of Chaos

I think it's a good thing. With no models to differentiate between them, it would be too confusing to be able to have armies of generic lesser daemons and the god specific ones as allies.

With the extreme unpopularity of generic daemons and the introduction of allies, everyone should have seen this coming.

Yeah with the new allies rules, they were superfluous.
Of course, so are cultists given how easy it is to take guard allies.

Except for you don't have to take the mandatory HQ and PCS tax in order to get your meatshields.
No if you're using guard for something other than meatshields...then go nuts. Cultists are there as cannon fodder, objective holding, and occasionally killing something, and nothing more. IG have a lot more uses.
That and the Chaos ICs can join cultists.

I think if someone was truely expecting Daemons in a Codex other than Daemons, then they need to go take a good hard look at things and sleep on it. It was kind of obvious.

I was expecting a greater daemon via sacrificing your HQ or sergeant, but that's just because of how much time I spent playing dawn of war.

CCS is 90 points for an 8 wound squad with 4 BS4 melta guns.
PCS is 70 points for 5 wounds with 4 BS3 melta guns.
Hardly a "tax". You can give them plasmas instead if you want. Or Grenade Launchers

Indeed. IG are good when used like they are supposed to be used.
Cultists serve a completely different purpose.
Just commenting that you really can't compare them in the same vein at all.

I prefer it, really; the Lesser and Greater Daemons in the Chaos Daemons book are a lot more effective than the ones in the old CSM Codex, and for not an exorbitant price increase either.

Cant target allied guard with psychic ability or have them utilize warlord traits. Tzeench cultists have a lot more utility that tzeench allied guard.
