I doubt someone accidentally dropped 7500 on it but it looks like the person did cancel their pledge. It happens. And yes it was at around 24000 for a while but has now dropped back down.

Not every company puts pressure on employees to defraud the IRS or willingly brakes labor laws and treats its employees poorly .plus if i hire somebody to do work for me then i have every right to complain if they do that job badly .if you hired a plumber who charged over the ods and did a rubbish job would you pay him/her ? word of mouth is very important to any business that's why you need to do good work for a decent price .also if i painted fences would it be ok for me to do a kickstarter looking for $40.000 claiming i want to paint even more fences and make more money ?

Irrelevant, straw-man arguments, my friend. You clearly have a bone to pick with BTP. I on the other hand, don't give two gaks either way about them. The content of my post, if you'd care to actually read it, doesn't even specifically talk about BTP, but "work for hire" in more general terms. Your points about IRS, labour laws, employee treatment are all completely irrelevant to what I posted. I also don't give two gaks about their "right" to have a Kickstarter. Talk to Zwei for ongoing discussion about "If I ran Kickstarter, or at least if I were allowed to dictate what they allow on their website, and I totally should be able to, despite just being a punter on the internet..."

So the point of my post, which you pretty much decided to skip in your rage and viritol. Assuming that they (any paint studio) have accurate photos of the work matched up to the price you pay for work of that quality (as well as a description). Then it's fine, as far as I'm concerned. There's an awful lot of entitlement mentality going around here that seems to expect 'eavy Metal paintjobs for $5 a figure.

If BTP specifically are scum of the earth, lawbreakers, etc, then fine. Don't use them. I don't give a gak. That's entirely aside from the point I was making when I was replying to someone whining that they shouldn't charge more than the cost of materials (and therefore work for free).

It may not be very good (I haven't looked closely, and their pricing sheet is offline atm) but it's effort and if you agree to it, then it's fair game. If I hire someone to come and paint my fence of mow my lawn, I don't get to bitch about how if I'd done it myself I could have done a better job. While I understand that this is the internets and hyperbole rules here, the comment is still pretty silly. Unless of course, you work for free at your job and they don't need to pay their staff, rent or utilities?

If I pay for a service and they do a piss poor job of it, I absolutely have the right to complain. Otherwise every business can get away with shoddy worksmanship. There's no internet hyperbole here. Go look at the pictures before you spring back to defend their quality. Sure, there are some acorns in there but that hog's going to starve looking for it.

Here's an example of their "top end" sample paint jobs:
http://www.bluetablepainting.com/view_image.php?imgID=28210
http://www.bluetablepainting.com/view_image.php?imgID=26884 (dipping FTW!)
http://www.bluetablepainting.com/view_image.php?imgID=23457 (prime and line)

No, I don't work for free but I also provide a quality service. I don't try to pass spray and wash or glazing and dipping off as top end paint jobs.

Wait.
So they are the actual example photos from BTP?
So people can see the quality of what they're paying for, and the finished quality is pretty much accurate?
So people can see what they're paying for and make an informed choice to use them or not, before parting with their hard earned?

So what the hell is the problem?

BTW, I never defended their quality - I even said that I haven't looked closely! (Reading comprehension FTW, mate!)
I simply responded to the ridiculous post stating that they shouldn't charge for their services, in the manner quoted above. If someone sees the pictures above, decide that it's what they want and are happy to pay the asking price, then why should anyone else have a problem with it?

You're white knighting them as is your right and I think they have gak for their service and ethics of a late 90's megacorp as is my opinion. You keep on defending from a point of willful ignorance by your own admissions though. I'm done.

I'm Kickstartered out, thank you very much.

First thing that crossed my mind when I heard about it. It's almost gotten to the point where a kickstarters make me think less of the people doing them.

Except reaper. Even though I didn't get in on it I really liked how their bones KS went.

You're misunderstanding. They likely put in 7500 in the bid and subsequently reversed it since they forgot the dot and changed it to $75.00.

Like source of BTP's customer complaints? About how the photos are such a blur it doesn't match what they expected?

Im actually wondering if your theory of Gatley backing his own campaign was correct, it looks like someone has just bumped the campaign up to 27k by selecting the $10,000 'Heroes of the Imperium' pledge level with only 10 hours remaining...

I want to see their response to this, they seem to get very openly angry about things, which I find quite interesting for a professional company, it isn't something that you see every day.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I think that the anger has come and gone. A week or so ago, Shawn seemed to accept the idea that it wouldn't get funded (or at least it seemed so in a few of his videos). I imagine they will sweep this under the carpet, never to be mentioned again.

That would also be an interesting response, denying a failure doesn't seem like a sensible thing to do. But then I don't run a big company, I'm still in uni, so what do I know

Let's not. Let's let this die down now. Whether you think it was or was not a good idea, it's finished now and I'd really rather not witness a small indy company getting dissected and speculated about. We need to remember this is a small employer and a number of people rely on wages that can be adversely affected by reputation damaging accusations. People voted with their wallets, that's how these things work. Time to drop it and move on.
