Actually that is usually the second, like Empire Strikes Back, at least if they follow the normal three act arc: introduction, adversity, resolution. This really won't though as it isn't a trilogy as much as a serial. Even in DKR it wasn't where everything went wrong, that was in The Dark Knight when The Joker killed Rachael and perverted Harvey Dent. He got physically beaten by Bane, but he was mentally and spiritually defeated before the movie even began. DKR was about pulling himself out of that darkness. His house wasn't destroyed in DKR either, that was in Batman Begins when things 'went down the tube' and Ra's left him for dead.

Haven't things really 'gone down the tube' for Tony each film? In the first he was captured by terrorists and tortured, as well as betrayed by his father figure. In the second film his families past came back to haunt him, his alcoholism and narcissism got the better of him, and his tech was stolen. In the Avengers he was tossed around a bit, went into space, and possibly died briefly after fighting a full blown alien invasion. None of these things scream 'easy day' for me, and don't we really want a villain that is a threat? Each story should escalate some element, and considering we are finally seeing the guy who has been pulling the strings all along it probably should be a rough day at the office for Tony. It would also seem he may have PTSD from the events of The Avengers as well that he is going to have to deal with, or drink away, as the story may go.

The Avenger's don't live together and they don't have instant teleportation. Banner can't just sense danger and go from South America to California in 5 minutes. They have a temp solution in traveling to and from Asgard, but the Rainbow Bridge is still broken, and I'm guessing from what we know of Thor 2 he may have his hands full with Dark Elves even if it wasn't. The same could be said of DC, and even more so really, as Superman could be in Gotham in almost no time, and the same goes for the Flash. The characters need their own room to breathe, and it helps give the world some weight if it seems like people are all doing there own thing at the same time; it shows characters inhabiting a world and not just as plot points.

Um, he meant the third going "down the tube" is where the third movie sucks. Spiderman 3. X-men 3. There's precedent.

Back to the trailer, am I the only one who saw Iron Patriot in the trailer? I watched it once, gonna watch it again, but Norman Osborn does not belong in this movie!! 48-50 seconds in the trailer is DEFINITELY IP. Brian is mad at this injustice!!!!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Ah, well sure, though I don't think it is precedent more than just saying there are bad movies. There are a lot of bad movies so it makes sense that sometimes a third movie is also a terrible movie and not really a trend. Last Crusade is the third Indiana Jones film and is typically picked over Temple of Doom. Even though all of them were gak, the second Transformers was more gak than the third one.

It is just a gussied up War Machine, and even has Rhodey's name on it if you look closely. Marvel can't make Spider-Man movies or use some of the Spider-Man characters because Sony has the film rights to them. This is more of a reference to the Iron Patriot Armor, most likely explained in the film as them trying to make him look like Captain America, who I imagine is probably a popular figure after leading the Avenger's in, you know, saving the planet. The more bizarre thing shown is Cap's shield on the back of Mandarin's neck.

I watched it without sound, but it looks like the other two, basically.

I bet it even seemed like the same actors and characters as well. Funny how it works out like that. I to was surprised, at first, that this one didn't take place in Middle Earth with a whole different cast.

Really? The third film, whose plot invalidates the two previous films in the chronology but is also based in a massive baffling plot hole ridden scheme that makes less sense than the typical plot hole ridden scheme?

I mean, 2 was bad. But 3 took the horridness to a whole new level.

I thought they were all equally terrible and would light on fire any copy that tried to enter the house. I am going by what appeared to be a better reaction to the third that was bouncing around, like Return of the Sith being better than Attack of the Clones. They were both bad and should be shunned.

I'm really excited that they're going for the sentient armor story. I wonder were Jarvis fits into this.

Revenge of the Sith was actually a good movie (until Natalie Portman became a whiny bitch and Anakin cried at the end). First SW movie getting a PG-13 rating and I loved it. Until the end. And I cried as part of me died when Darth Vader screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" in that voice...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yeah but we need to know which films need to be burned at the door of the house and which ones must be actively hunted and destroyed to the last DVD

I was going to make that list once but Yakface said I wasn't allowed to use half the space available to Dakka just for one project.

I believe that Stark was developing some sort of neural control headset, and was wearing it in preview when the suit jumped on the bed... kinda odd I think, but we'll wait and see how the movie goes. I am definitely looking forward to it, since I am a bit of a comic book movie whore... I actually just wish that Avengers had had Edward Norton's hulk instead of whoever that guy was.

Any ideas why the Mandarin has an Avengers/Cap tatoo on the back of his neck?
