I bought the dark vengeance set a while ago and I also bought the sniper scouts and a squad of csm.

What I am trying to figure out now is where to go next. Should I still build the armies I have, should I get allies at vehicles?

Have you built or painted everything yet? Finish that stuff up first, and get a game or two in. What army are you planning on pursuing anyway? Chaos just had a codex come out, so you should try playing some games with them. Dark Angels should be getting a new codex some time next year, so just hold out on them.

I'm guessing your sticking with the DA codex , so how does a Land Speeder or two strike you ? More Ravenwing or Deathwing ?

Chaos , any particular Legion or warband ? Some more Chaos Marines wouldn't be a bad idea . Bikes are gak hot right now , maybe a biker vs biker theme there ?

My best advise for you, is to get a better idea of what army you really want to invest in.

What sort of budget are you working with? Can you afford to put alot of money into an army your not going to play?

Brother SRM had the best idea. Get what you have painted up and play a few games see which you like best then go from there. if you MUST get something now, Think about getting a rhino/razorback as they can be used with either army.

Even without knowing your situation very clearly, I can't stress enough to dangers of getting more models that you can ever hope to assemble and paint.

Pick one army. Trying to build up two will lead to bankruptcy.

I suggest something that can spam flyers, if you like to win.

Sorry I should have expounded more. I have both codecies and played a few times. My chaos is mixed and all models are both assembled and painted.

Sorry double post stupid phone. My chaos gets stomped fairly easily. I have only played Da once. I guess my real question is what would build up survivability for chaos, or should I just ignore it and go for building DA

Build and paint what you have; start small. I've got entirely too many projects, side projects, et cetera right now and I'm regretting it; buy more stuff one unit at a time and build/paint everything before getting more.

As far as the forces you have go, Dark Angels' main advantage is Deathwing and Ravenwing, more Terminators/Bikes/Speeders will help there. Chaos needs more infantry and Heldrakes.
