So, I am sure I am not the first to play or want to play this type of Zombie Assalt Game, with an endless horde that a meagre group of diffenders must survive a number of rounds against. But here is one designed to work with any army, based on the basic idea of the CoD Zombie games.
The Armies & Deployment
1 player commands an endless Zombie horde.
The other player commands a 500pts army taken from any 1 codex. Note that allies, Fortifications and vehicles other than walkers may not be taken. Monstrous Creatures, Jump Monstrous Creatures and Flying Monstrous Creatures may also not be taken. Walkers may not have a front armour value of 13 or 14 under their standard staines or due to wargear or special rules of any model whatsoever. Therefore, walkers with items such as Quantum Shielding are banned. The defender does not have any compulsary units, so he may freely build his army. However he must still be within a 2 HQ, 6 Troop, 3 FA, HS and elite limit.
He also has 3 Aegis defense lines (note that these do not have Gun Emplacements or Comm Relays). These are arranged so that all pieces of the ADLs form a square/circle, in the center of the table. The defender then deploys his entire army within this area. He may not deploy any units in reserve, whatsoever. Any model forced to deploy in reserve nstead deploys on the table as if it had arrived there on a previous turn. The game is ideally played on a 4x4 board but if you want bigger (or smaller) then I can't really stop you so go ahead.
The attacker must deploy a unit of 30 Zombies in reserve. These enter play at the beginning of turn 1, from any board edge.

Special Rules
Feel No Pain, Rending, Poisoned Attacks (4+), Fearless, slow and purposeful
Game Length
The game continues untill the defender is wiped out. Night fighting in effect during turn 1 and 2, and is not during 3 and 4. At the beginning of each turn after that, roll a D6. On a 5+, it becomes night again, which lasts for 2 turns.
Mision Special Rules
Endless Swarm
Any Zombie unit that is wiped out is immediately placed into Ongoing Reserves. After a zombie unit is placed back into reserve, count up[ the number of models in the unit and add half of that number to the unit, rounding up. (A 30 man Zombie horde is placed back in reserves, and reenters play with 45. That same unit is now wiped out and reenters play with 68).
"They just won't stop..."
After an unbearable siege, the morale of the defender begins to collapse. During Game turn 10, the defenders have a -1 modifier to their Leadership. Stubborn and Fearless units cease to have the rule. For each additional game turn they survive, the defenders lose -1 Leadership. Note that a double 1 is still an automatic pass.
Dragged into Hell
Any model that leaves the ring of defense is immdediately destroyed as the undead claw and pulled them to their untimely death. This even includes walkers, Jet and Jump units- no one is safe from the Undead!
Hopefully not too complicated for an on the go thing, but requires a lot of models and time.
Please give feedback because I want to have a go at this ame with a friend later this week.
Also, if you have the time, please post a list that you would take as the defender.

I like the idea by my IG would be more then a little OP , at 500 points I can bring th le following
Primaris Pysker - 70
Vet squad - x2 flamers - 80pts( 3 squads)-240
PCS-30- x2 flamers. 40
X2. Infantry squads x1 flamed each - 110
With this I will outnumber you slightly , yes attrition will get to me but taking almost 100 lasgun shots on the advance ( FRFSRF). Then 10 flamers and the primaris's lighting , followed by D3 wounds from each flamer and ovrwatch from lasguns .... If they survived I would think they would be easily dispatched by bayouet , But the scenario itself I think is awesome

Instead of having any model that leaves the Aegis die immediatly I would change it to be a Dangerous Terrain test every turn they begin their movement outside the ring, have the test fail on a 1, 2, and 3. Vehicles that fail the test take an automatic glancing hit.

Well I am here playtesting this out with a buddy, using a hordes of Termagants, Genestealers and Cultists. Only on round 1 and I have lost my Chaos Lord (Sigil of Corruption, Axe of Blind Fury, Mark of Khorne) and DV Chosen with VotLW and Mark of Khorne to the first wave, and my Helbrute dropped a hullpoint. To the first wave and now my Helbrute is tied up by a 10 strong squad. I think I may have to rework this. Maybe lower Zombie stats or raise the defenders points to 750? Automatically Appended Next Post: Good lord. 4 turns of whiffing by the Helbrute followed by non-stop killing by the Helbrute, only to be glanced to (un)death by the LAST Zombie...

I say get rid of FOC, but add a restriction of 1 HQ(Named or otherwise), or at the very least change it to 1 HQ, 1 Troop, another good place to look would be the skirmish rules( IE No 2+ Save Model, No more than 2 Wounds per model, etc), I'd also recommend looking at 4th Edition's Kill Team rules for ideas.

I see this as being more fun as a co-op game with zombies following a rudimentary 'AI.' Here's something I just threw together.
Player Characters
Player make a selection from their codex HQ choices and can buy wargear as usual. The total cost of the character must not exceed 200pts.
Board
Mark out a 36” square to play on. Allocated 8 ‘Access Points’ - these should be as evenly spaced as possible. Fill about 25% of the board space with evenly distributed barricades or obstructions.
Zombie Spawning
At the beginning of each turn, zombies spawn. On turn one, randomly select an Access Point. D6 zombies will spawn from this point and move directly on from the board edge. On every odd number turn, randomly select a further spawn point. On that turn, and every subsequent odd numbered turn, D6 further zombies will spawn from that point. Once all points have been activated in this fashion, repeat the process but this time adding +D6 to the number of zombies that arrive from that point.
Zombie Actions
Move D6” towards the nearest player character every turn. If two PCs are equally close, roll off for it. If a model comes within 4” of a zombie, through the zombies movement or its own, the zombie immediately move in a straight line into contact with the PC, assuming its path is not blocked. If the path is blocked, the zombie moves up to the blockage and stops.
If a zombie is in contact with a PC during the fight sub-phase, a close combat is fought as normal. If a zombie is in contact with two or more PCs in the sub-phase, roll off to see who it attacks.
If a zombie is obstructed by a barricade, they attack the barricade in the fight sub-phase. If fewer than five zombies attack the barricade, nothing happens. If five or more zombies attack a barricade it is destroyed. Remove the barricade immediately.

Close combat weapon
Scoring
Keep a tally of the amount of zombies killed. This is your score. The game ends when all player characters are dead.
Something like this seems like it would be a lot of fun. It'd be easy enough to switch out the 'zombies' for any other basic troop in the game, and add rules for firing and such.

No FOC may be a good idea. I'm worried about it being open for abuse though. 5 Librarians might be OP. maybe remove the Compulsary choices, but make any slot optional?

My IG still win , if you dump the FOC for the all new low price of 130 points i can bring an infantry platoon , then throw on another 10 man squad for 50 pts up to 180 , no i ahve 20 points for flamers ( 1 on each infantry squad and 2 on the PCS ) ............i have 45 men at 200 points .......Merica...... But overly if you had a teaming of Imperial Guard like what i would run with just massive amounts of lasguns to use with " First Rank Fire! Second Rank Fire ! " you are throwing alot of hurt ............and thats only for 200 ..
Oh BTW i did a play test with the Army i posted above ( second Commet ) and it was wave 6 before any of em got close ( i rolled amazing on Leadership for orders ) ... i killed 820 Zombies with lasguns alone ......... the flamers killed about 100 and the Pysker killed about 90 with his lighting attacks sooo 1,010 zombies killed ...... awesome , by Turn 8 they broke though the outer Ageis Defensive wall and i formed an infantry Square ..... the Pirmaris was the last one to go down .........about 40 infected got to charge into assualt after breaking though .....i over watched 22 of em ......then i was mauled as my Infantry Sections one by one went down......... in a blaze of glory a group of vets Epically Threw Frag Grenades that Scattered back onto them and killed 12 infected ( thinking you mad bro ? to my friend ) ...in hte Primaris's last stand he actually be the entirety of Wave 11 ....( all of the Guardsmen had been over run at this point ) and did an epic lighting attack killing 9 and charged with his Power Staff and laspistol ...and my opponent rolled to hit .....  on 30 zombies ......all rolled 1s and 2's ....... But Bob as who should he be affectionatly named was brought down by a Perials of the Warp attack ( ;( ) after surviving 12 waves .............. but its awesome , then again i outnumbered the infected on the first turn

That was what my mind was going for, but the words didn't exactly match ><. Those Libs might be OP to begin with, but they begin to lose LD after a certain point as well.

Also, a pair of Wolf Lords with Terminator Armour/ Runic Armour, Storm Shields, Frost Axes, Saga of the Warrior born. Expensive but alone they can take out so many its unbelievably powerful. Aw, sweet. That was perfect. Do you have any comments that could be improved on? More for the defender? Less? More Xombies?

That's 9 heavy flamers, 5 AV11 walkers with 6+ invulnerables and ungodly numbers of attacks, and 3 bolters and 2 heavy bolters at BS4.
That said - if you're going to allow Walkers, you should make a rule that no Walker can have a front AV of higher than 12. Otherwise some jackass will certainly take an Ironclad (or whichever Dreadnought it is) with AV13 and be literally unkillable.

This sounds like a lot of fun.
I'd be using Tau for this. Almost all Firewarriors with a couple markerlights. BS5 Rapid Fire Pulse Rifles with some suits with twin-linked flamers to take the charge if needed.

You can only increase your BS with markerlights once per shooting attack.

I play-tested this today with my house-mate, overall we think the game is great, he tried it first with GK with 5 paladins and a 5-man purgation squad each with a psilencer, I then had a go using 4 squads 2 with a missile and 2 with a heavy bolter and a dreadnought with a missile and assault cannon, after many rounds we somehow both ended up with 349 kills each (no idea how that happened).
We came up with a couple of ideas we thought would improve it
start the game with 45 zombies
have the zombies enter by a random board edge
2 aegis defence lines (we were on a smaller than 4x4 table so YMMV)
other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the game and will be playing it again soon

I love it! But, problem is, one thing auto wins here...
3x7 Flamers of Tzeentch. Basically, when the zombiesadvance, they'll get flamed the F*** to death, and then if they try to charge, will lose even more models... Or, just try a bunch of Hellhounds, you know, for fun.
One change is the "They just won't stop..." I'd say -1 to Ld. every turn you lose a model as a casualty. No depression when you're just slaughtering them! And I'd also change the no MC rule... No FMCs sure, but rending/poison means an MC is not broken at all. If I had to combat this with my current collection, Id take the Doom of Malantai, the Parasiteof Mortrex, and 3 each Biovores/Pyrovores (shocking, I know!)
Better yet would be a Hellbrute and as many level 3 sorcerors as Chaos can take. Roll Bio, hope for Enfeeble and make them strength 2. No killing the Hellbrute for you!

In this case, Heavy Flamers are actually superior to Breath of Chaos. The HF wounds on 3+ as opposed to just a 4+, plus its cheaper.
Breath of Chaos is only superior against 3+ and 2+ armor, or high toughness.

Why invent new zombies when we have official rules for them in Codex: chaos space marines?
ws 3 s3 t3 w1 i3 a1 fearless, feel no pain, slow and purposefu.
And "play untill dead" is frankly dull.
There should be some objective to achieve, like hold out until evac arrives(turn 15 or some).
Also, since normal zombies don't have rending and it frankly make no sense, I say no walkers.

Eldar War Walkers with 2 scatter lasers and a farseer with guide, spirit stones and eldritch storm. The scatter lasers provide instant death to get rid of Feel No Pain and a pinning large blast helps too. Some scorpions might be good, by the way.

These Zombies are based on fiction zombies, that can mysteriously tear through anything.
And some fluff
There is no help coming. There are no others. There is no evac. Ammo is low, morale is going from bad to fething bad. The more we kill, the more come to the gunfire like moths to a flame.
There is no time for food, sleep, no time for peace. No mercy, no remorse, no pity for the living or Undead. No respite. No forgiveness. There is only war against an innumerable, Undead horde. So let's take as many of the b******s with us as we can...

I really like the idea overall, and with the cultists I've been building along with my guard I'm sure I could actualy run a game with the full numbers.
As another variant, maybe more on the Necromunda scale you could have 150 or 200 pts and all models operate independently. To get really detailed, you could add ammo counts, something like enough rounds to shoot 10 times. With limited ammo using overwatch becomes a choice...

I was actually going tp do something similar, but decided against it as it make surviving longer than a handful of turns. Plus, I didn't want to add too many rules.
Aslo, i have an idea for another game based on the WWZ trailer.

It does say in the OP no monstrous creatures
I had another go at this today with 3 missile squads, a HB squad and a Techmarine with 3 Gun servitors
the amount of hits the frag missiles could get was ridiculous, I managed 14 under one blast after a lucky scatter
