Don't know if this is the right place for a noob question, but if I glue my Dire Avenger Exarch with a Diresword, does that mean it won't be able to use double-catapult, or one thing is how it looks like, another thing is how you choose you army?

Thanks!

Models are best kept WYSIWYG, to avoid confusion. If you're running him with double shuripults, model him eith double shuripults and so on.

It just saves time during playing, avoiding any wargear confusions.

Thanks!

Then I think I'll go double shuripults... though I love the looks on the spear...

You could always use magnets and have both!

I've tried that and while it works, I wish I had glued. The contact areas are small where it is easy to loose the arms.

Well, I bought the 10 Dire Avengers box... It comes with enough material for two exarchs... or more... but I'd loose some Dire Avengers... How many are enough for a good unit?

Erm you can only have one exarch in a squad. I agree WYSIWYG is the best way forward

This is always a good idea.

I actually built 2 Exarches from my box as well. One with spear, the other with Diresword and Pistol. I had glued an extra pistol to his hip though (The Diresword model) and use it as a counts-as for when I need 2 shuriks. If you do the whole counts-as bit, be sure your opponent knows what you have before the game actually starts (pre-deployment mind you) else it can cause some issue.

I'm not saying I'll use them both in the unit, if I assemble two different Exarchs it'll be to use one or the other according to need...

The answer still remains - Magnets!

Throwing in my 2c, the DA sprue comes with 11 or 12 torso's and 10 legs, so if you're worried about magnetizing the arms and then losing them, stick a magnet in the waist instead and swap entire torso's!

Though I appreciate the suggestions, I must confess I don't like magnets, as in my book it equals loosing bits...

I made one with the double catapults and one with a diresword. I usually run them both in different, specialized squads. Double-bro is the best, but obviously I never use him in close combat if I can help it.

Is the japanese-like banner on the Exarch's back mandatory?

No, basically. You could replace it with another targeting thing or a bit from a Guardian.

You only get enough legs for 10 Dire Avengers with an extra exarch body and extra standard Dire Avenger body, so if you make two exarchs you'll only have eight Dire Avengers. Go with WYSIWYG, it is easier than magnets and I personally think the dual shuricans are better than the other options.

Yeah, I'll go gunslinger with the Exarch... Seems the best option... He might look better with the spear... But in the end, it's all about functionallity...

Thanks for all the answers!
