He states this in his move to secure brick and mortar stores on a couple of the podcasts that he has done.
Given that the two biggest US internet discounters are ALSO brick and mortar stores, I'm not sure how much control he'll have.
Hey, does Wicked get the Ladies of the West set? Its on the main page in the graphic, but not listed in the side bar...

Yes. If it's in the graphics you get it.
I was thinking the same thing. If they can't discount via the web, thewarstore just does it over the phone, and there is nothing you can do about that. I guess it will be less rampant, and they could always exclude them from being at the forefront of getting product early. Other then that, expect to see it 20% off just not advertised via the web.

How involved is Romeo with Wild West Exodus?
I'm planning on dropping close to $700.00 please explain or give an example of Romeo being a dishonest business man. I've never dealt with Battlefoam so I have no personal experience with Romeo or his company and have assumed that it was a good company on the up and up. if you have an example or could point me to an example of unethical business practices perpetrated by Romeo I would be extremely interested to hear about it and please post before the end of the campaign.
This looks like an amazing project and I really would like to back it but I don't want to loose any money.

Saying he's not going to sell it to online discounters is just a push to get you to pledge now, cause there wont be discounts later. Supposedly. But not really.
It's amusing how all the niche players can say "no discounting!" and it's "protecting the FLGS" but when GW tries to prevent online sales, it's the end of the universe.

My understanding is that he's the owner and main driving force. But I'm just going on stuff I read on the Internet.

I think this sums up the objections that people have. Note that it's still "stuff you read on the internet" so derive your own conclusions: http://bloodofkittens.com/blog/2013/03/07/meat-meta-bad-battlefoam-practices/

Basically, Romeo is a jerk. I've only delt with him as a customer so I will verify that order fulfillment does happen... slowly. I won't pre-order anything from him anymore after doing so last year because of the length of time it took to actually fulfill my order. It also takes a fair amount of time to get any custom foam orders completed, too. Still, I do have everything I've ordered.

Meh. I don't even care about stuff like that. For me it boils down to one thing... is the stuff being offerend in my kickstarter worth the money? If yes, then I'll back it and let the company decide their own method of distributing their product. If no, then they're not getting my money regardless of their plans, ploys, or psychotic breaks at conventions. ;P

Well, its actually something to worry about if you want a thriving game. Does WWX want to be a big game, with a wide distribution and playing base, or do they want to drive every sale through their own website and remain niche?

Well, saying you won't get a 70% off discount again seems like a reasonable statement. You're looking to much into it. That's the same kind of stuff you can see coming from the Mantic KSs and others.
I agree that the whole protect the brick and mortar statement is a bit of a dream and a tool, like plenty of other companies have used, to get stores to stock up on their stuff. But you notice battlefoam only has only sales on holidays and stuff. You can almost always get it cheaper from someone else.

They are a brick and mortar that just does phone sales at 20% discount for games not being distributed via Internet like the GW games. So vendors will find a way around it. Though the fact that they will send the stock to be shown at the store before it is advertised for sale on their website is interesting.

Creator Outlaw Miniatures, LLC about 2 hours ago
Hi Charlie - I can see how that is confusing. I read my post from earlier and you are right. I completely did a typo that caused some issues. The FAQ is correct, I just typed out the wrong info as I have been asked the same question so many times I read heavy weapon hired hands as hired hands...
Sure, but I don't buy it. Read his excuse and reread what he wrote earlier. It's hard for me to believe it was a simple misunderstanding of words when he was directly referring to the heavy weapons. It just feels too much like a dishonest tactic to get people to add on to their pledge.
I also don't buy the starter retraction excuse. It was stated they couldn't allow the trading of the plastic hired hands because they needed to know how many of each to order, and the Kickstarter pledge manager will delay that number. However plastic manufacturing is a long process, with a majority of the time in the setup and construction of the molds. They are going tool each mold of all of those plastic kits regardless. The squirting of the plastic is a relatively quick and scalable affair, coming much later in the process, so I don't see how numbers can't easily be adjusted. It was obvious that when there was a strong draw for the wave 2 plastic hired hands, and I feel it was another dishonest tactic to get people to up their pledges to receive the wave 2 items.
To be clear I don't think there is anything wrong with the current trading rules as they stand - it's ok to use wave 2 as incentives to up their pledge, but I don't like the saying one thing, and then retracting it, and then trying to cover it up with flimsy excuses all in the name of getting money.

Almost 297K, with 11 hours left... that will be easy!
I have tried to summon nerd rage about this campaign, but just can't . I know Romeo has flaws, but this thing looks pretty darn cool to me. *Shrug* I guess I know what I'm getting with Romeo and I'm just over it and care more about the product at this point.
Granted, awesome creators going out of their way for the backers (Mark at Dreamforge) does tend to pull more money out of me, but I just view Romeo as not really adding anything... but his personality doesn't take away from what ends up in my hands, either. It just doesn't add.

My opinion is that as long as Outlaw delivers a good product and supports it I'll be happy. I don't really care if the owner is a caustic individual. Heck, if I really cared about caustic individuals I don't think I could ever play a tournament. I've met FAR more caustic individuals playing Warmahordes and 40K tourneys. They make Romeo look like a little angel. The irony being that I find the caustic types are usually the ones who complain long and loudly about others they perceive to be caustic. It's that old adage that the people we hate the most are those who remind us of our own faults. So, to sum up, I'm giving Outlaw the benefit of the doubt until they prove they aren't deserving of my trust.
Just my two cents.

HI guys,
Just wanted to apologise if I had not made it as clear as possible about the internet discount stores. Outlaw Minis will be distributing them in a fashion to protect the bricks and mortar stores as much as possible.
I was not trying to suggest that they would not be available online, as I am unaware of any business decisions that he makes. I was just commenting on what I heard from his podcasts that I have listened to,
Where he talks about not distributing them to DISCOUNT internet shops. I would have thought that where a shop has both, he would distribute, but I also do not KNOW this for certain and am only hazarding a guess.
Again, sorry if I confused anyone with my previous post.
On a lighter note, the Lawmen have been unlocked just now, so I guess there will be a lot of smiling faces about, hehe. I really like them but I think I may stick with Warrior Nation, Outlaws and Union and get decent sized posses.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

We have 12 people in the UK planning on meeting in Sheffield for pre-release drinks and maybe a game or two. So everything is looking rosy here. Only 8hrs left before the end of the KS. I think happy times are going to be had.

Really, how many bridges has this guy burned?
I guess I wouldn't be too concerned about the game not appearing discounted online. I imagine this is a not too well-thought out plan, and something that has to be said to not make the brick and mortar stores not freak out right now. If WWX was a more established game there'd be a lot more pull to do that sort of thing, but I'm seeing whatever produces more sales will win in the end.
