Subject: MC or In/Mo

So i just finished playing my first 5000 point game, i was Dark Elves while i played against a allied force of Dwarves and High Elves. Now i ran my 2 Dreadlords and BSB on Dark Pegasi , so this would give all 3 of them T4 and the master 3W as each of them would count as MC.
My Opponents both read through the BRB and on page 486 in the army listings it states that the Dark Pegasus is MB. Going through my army book i could not find anything to show them that it is MC when being riden and not MB.
As a result I had to run them as In/Mo with hits being distributed.
So my question is
When a character uses a MB as a mount does it become MC or In/MO
And where in the rules can i find the answer to reference

As I understand it the type of the mount is the type of the unit. If it's MB it's MB. In the BRB every instance of the mount type states the entire unit becomes that. They only say "in general" in terms of 4 types. O&G have mounts that are Monster, MB, War Beast. It's a way of giving, or not giving, special rules to different mount types. But it certainly isn't IN/MB. It's a MB.

IIRC:
Page 105 or so.
I think this is the reference from the FAQ.
Page 105 – Character Mounts, Monstrous Cavalry Mount.
Add “ even if he is riding a monstrous beast with only one
Wound” to the end of the last sentence of the first paragraph.
I believe as soon as you put the hero on the MB they become MC.

I guess you're right. It doesn't really matter like I thought. They all have swiftstride anyway.

Actually it does matter cause M/C can be run as a lone character with the best stats from both while In/ MO can not combine stats and is run as a unit

Only two stats can be shared in MC. And there's only a couple instances in the whole game of any MC having > T than the rider. And not many with W for that matter. And, funny enough, one is DE. But really there ain't many. But there aren't many MC in general.
But I meant MB vs. MC. They both have swiftstride and stomp. I know they aren't cavalry or Infantry.

Well, Skullcrushers have a higher T mount. As do Demigryph knights.
That is 2 out of the 4 MC units in the game.
If we include Forge World we can add Rhinox Riders. Rhinox are T5. So 3 out of 5.
Then if we include characters we have Dark Pegesi and Juggernoughts(I assume the WD has changed the Jugger entry in the WoC book)

Skullcrushers are new--but maybe they had this rule in mind when they wrote the unit. Rhinox riders aren't legit.

Gee, I don't know maybe the giant notice that says EXPERIMENTAL RULES on it and the fact it came out before Ogre Kingdoms and makes those units obsolete and horribly priced. And the fact that all WFHB rules are not official unless they are latest army book, brb, faq, or WD where they say it's official. Per GW.

Odd, I've got the PDF of the rules that aren't stamped Experimental. GW had 2 PDF's floating around, the initial release, then an updated rule set.
Not that I disagree with the lates Book, BRB, FAQ or WD statement, where is that written?
The rules needed for Rhinox are complete without needing to pull rules from the older army book.

Forgeworld's copy says Experimental. That's on their website.
The BRB says use the army book. The WD inserts say "Official Update" on them. The FAQs say:
WARHAMMER
RULEBOOK
Official Update Version 1.6A
I know the rules are complete. But they're complete crap. The nice people (not sarcastic) at FW made some cool models for rhinox riders before the new OK book. I'm not sure if anyone doing the new OK book knew about this or what, but they essentially made the same unit except a lot wussier. And Mournfangs are NOT wussy.
They would be
WS3.5 S5 T5 W4 I2.5 A8 L8
3+ armor
D3+1 impact
Frenzy
capable of heavy armor, IF, GW, AHW, magic banner
---for 105 pts
Why not just make them poop lightning bolts and be done with it? They're basically monsters. The new rule that MC share toughness makes them T5. They're just a bit over the top esp when added with the options of Mournfangs.

Kelly knew perfectly well about Rhinox riders.
The Mournfang Cavelry fluff is almost word for word what the original WD Rhinox rider fluff said. They literally replaced Rhinox with Mournfang.

Actually, I don't know who first added it. I don't think it was FW. You can see an excerpt of a pretty old version here including the fluff. Seems it was around since at least 2007.

Those are the original WD rules.
The FW rules were identicle except they basically had Bull Rhinox be the base statline.
