I use the BR the vast majority of the time, only on large open maps, like Ragnarok or Complex, do I take the DMR for my primary.
DMRs are best for their range and accuracy. Seems like the DMR gets destroyed at mid range by the DMR. haha

Black Templars are the best Space Marine Chapter out of all the Space Marines. They are the most fanatical marines out there. They are on an endless, eternal crusade for the god emperor. AND they get in the face of the enemy. Thats the way to get things done.

I got a DMR but I will get a lightrifle as soon as possible because I love that gun!

My setup for campaign in 4 was usually a Shotgun and a Light Rifle or a Battle Rifle. The Light Rifle is basically a DMR/Battle Rifle combo, and fills the role of a medium range suppression weapon very well. The Shotgun/Scatter Shot blows away every other close range gun in the game, and I have used it since Halo 1.

As for the poll, the Battle Rifle is definitely a better weapon. It specializes in medium-long range accurate fire, and does it very well. The Assault Rifle is only useful at close range and is outclassed by the Shotgun.

I have not done a Legendary run yet, but on that difficulty my opinion might change. I also do not play Multi-Player, and never will, so my comments are strictly geared toward Campaign.

BR maybe a 3 shot rifle, but if you put two equal gamers against each other the shear power and the accuracy of the DMR will beat it. The BR is more solid, but the DMR is more rewarding to a good gamer.

DMR in my experience is simply a functionally better weapon.

I've beat BR users when I was a shot down and we both land all of our shots, its dumb. I'd much rather use the BR, because I like it better... but

They really need to buff the other rifles, all I see is DMR anymore, because it is simply the best one.

To whoever was saying the Assault Rifle sucks:

That weapon got me through the campaign of Halo 1. Quite frankly I wish more games had weapons like it. But then I'm best with rapid fire weapons.

If the Needler is gone from Halo 4 I will be a sad panda.

There was an assault rifle in halo 1? Never used it. I thought halo 1 was just a pistol simulator.

The pistol in the original Halo was brillant. Shame they kind of ruined it in the subsequent games.

But the Assault Rifle and the Shotgun were also pretty viable powerful weapons. The needler was great too. The Plasma Rifle wasn't too bad, the Plasma Pistol was dreadful, although it looked cool. The Sniper Rifle and the Rocket Launcher were good but required skill.

I was a fething pro with the MA5B (Halo1 Assault rifle) Though the MA5C is more my playstyle (Halo 3 AR)

DMR in multiplayer matches, works really well on larger maps. But I still ditch the pistol for an assault rifle whenever I run over one.

Whatever still has ammo in single player as you blow through rounds too fast to ever stick to one gun imo.

the AR works against hordes of things (flood) and i liked that it had some more power in halo 4.
DMR is just epic. its great for mid range battles which is how i do things, unless i drop in with the jetpack and a shotgun/railgun and DMR combo.
im not keen on the battle rifle anymore, the DMR fills all my mid range needs now

It all comes down to play-style, neither is "better" per se. Im a DMR fan myself, mainly because im used to it from reach but manly because my playstyle is defence/support oriented (Fewer kills, Fewer deaths). I prefer to have my foe at long range, preferably with a team mate between us to help soak up bullets.
Close up I am a fan of the AR, I have started using the firepower perk so I get both the DMR and AR. It seems to have a fair bit more power than previous games, which I felt using the AR was akin to blowing an ineffectual raspberry at someone (magnum all the way). In halo 4 the suppressor draws the same reaction as the old AR from me.

The carbine can also be extremely deadly, you've just got to be REALY accurate and shoot as fast as possible.
