Is it me or has everything in the GW store doubled in price recently?

It has because they are controlling quality. They make everything in England and it is more expensive to make it in England than in China. Yeah it is an expensive hobby but what are you going to do...

Im just trying to see if im going crazy or therr was a very recent price increase.

It does happen. Models get more expensive. Not sure about 'doubling' in price, when I got started on the hobby Land Raiders were $50 and they're now $75 U.S.; nothing's gone more than +1/2 in my experience.

What's interesting is that it will commonly happen with no input from the user in regards to altering the nation. I had it happen to me just yesterday when going from the Wall of Martyrs page to the Necron Megaforce.

I have a theory that they do it to make the rest of the world think "Wow, thank <Insert Deity Here> that I'm not an Australian!".

If browsing when you're not logged in, you do not get that.

There was a thread yesterday (like 8 posts down from this one) which was the same exact thing. Sometimes your region gets set to Australia on the GW site. Just set it back and prices will be what you remember. For the record, price hikes usually happen around May.

And inaccurate. China makes inexpensive stuff, not high-quality fine-detail stuff; the two major sources for spare parts for epees (bear with me for a moment) are China and Germany, nobody in their right mind buys parts from China because they never work (screws threaded the wrong way, bent springs, you name it, I've seen it). If GW outsourced production to China prices would drop at the expense of every single model looking like an early-run Finecast model.

Well, I noticed that the Annihilation Barge got a price increase by 3 Euro. In Sept. it was 26 Euro and now its 29 Euro. That's more than 10%.

Actually, Chinese rogue copies of Forge World resin stuff have much better casting quality, that's what he was referring to.

It's easy to make "much better castings" when you are working in a factory devoted to mass runs of products and not having to pay upkeep on the machines.

As for making sweeping statements of what China can and can't do. Its a major economic power with a massive population and a strongly pro-domestic government. It's already one of, if not the, biggest manufacturing economies on the planet.

China can do whatever the hell it wants to do.

Price has been increased during the last official price hike a few months ago.

Yep somehow while i was viewing the new megaforces i got switched to australia, thanks mates.

If you want the true Aussie experience, you can shop from a US online store and ask to pay $20-$50 postage and hold the order for 3 weeks.
