Hey Dakka, just recently thought of this, but if sniping allows you to allocate a "to hit" roll of 6 on any model in the unit you're shooting and orks have a BS of 2 and therefore rely on 5's and 6's to hit, doesn't that mean that they get to allocate 50% of their hits while SM only gets to allocate 25%... Seems ridiculous to me but maybe their poorly made bullets curve or something?

Krieg! What a hole...

Only actual snipers can allocate hits like that.

Lol. That is prettu funny. Ghazkull gets to allocate 1/2 his hits whereas a SM Captain only gets to allocate 1/5..Same number of allocations from equal shots over a game but still...

Not independent characters, so they can't.

A model needs to be a character to get precision shots. Independent Character is a special rule and is completely different (except that all Independent Characters e characters and have precision shots). Nobs leading units are characters, but units of nobs are not.

Given that the exact same odds are in place to begin with (1/6) you've skewed odds and statistics by taking half of the equation. Space marines will still hit twice as often. And as others pointed out, only certain shots can be allocated.

What is good about ork shooting and has been for some time is the number of shots they put down range despite terrible BS for a low cost. So yes orks are good at shooting, but not because of what you believe.

Nobs will be able to snipe from their Boyz squads, but if you're in range to shoot that you'll probably be charging anyway, which is much more damaging than a BS2 strength 4 pistol shot.
