Forgot about the Lamenters, I'm fan of them as well, if for no other reason than it is incredibly hard to dislike the chapter that basically exists for the sole purpose of absorbing bad luck and getting messed with. To give you an idea of how much it sucks to be a Lamenter:

1. They were founded during the 21st founding, thus nobody trusts them. They are BA successors but by some twist of fate lacked the Red Thirst and Black Rage.
2. During the 9th crusade, they were abandoned by the chapter that was supposed to be supporting them (the Mortifactors) because they were from the 21st founding and the Mortifactors didn't trust them. The near full strength chapter was reduced to two companies before reinforcements arrived.
3. They then got trapped in a warp storm. Although they managed to fight their way out, they are now trusted even less.
4. Were ordered onto a crusade with 300 marines, 200 of those marines were casualties.
5. After rebuilding their chapter, they were assigned to defend against the Maelstrom under the Astral Claws, who befriended the chapter. When the Badab War broke out, they sided with the Claws until the Minotaurs cut the chapter down to between 3 and 4 companies, only to later find out the extent of Huron's treachery.
6. During their 100 year crusade of repentance, one of the first things they run into is Hive Fleet Kraken. Not a splinter fleet, but the full god damn fleet. It then proceeded to cause massive damage to the chapter.
7. There are rumours that the Black Rage is begining to resurface in the survivors of the chapter.

Basically, the Lamenters are the Sisters of Battle of the Space Marine chapters. I would not be surprised if in the next GK codex a squad of 5 PAGK's decides to kill 3/4's of the chapter so they can use their dicks as some sort of protective ward against Slaneesh or something.

I like the old Space Sharks and Flesh Eaters. What's scarier than a 7 foot tall psycho in a ton of armor? A 7 foot tall psycho in a ton of armor with TEETH painted on their helmets!

I'm a fan of the Knights of Blood as well simply for the fact that there's so little information on them. It's fun to guess exactly what caused their actions to be condemned by the Inquisition when other Chapters get away with causing countless civilian deaths as well (I'm looking at you, Marines Malevolent).

Field Police weren't a Chapter but rather a type of specialist within a Chapter.

For me it is the White Panthers or the White Consuls. Panthers got mentioned in the original marine codex as being ruthless very much like the Marines Malevolent and the White Consuls are a codex chapter but have 2 chapter masters and were well described in one of the Word Bearer books.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

I was gonna say...

But I like the idea of somebody making a Field Police chapter.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Biased towards the Flesh eaters! solid red armour, BA rules, bloodthirsty teetering on the verge of falling into darkness while trying to prove themselves as loyal servants of the Emperor, hinted that some of their brothers turned to Khorne due to the lure of bloodshed and ambushed the rest of the company causing a massive brutal battle between brother marines! they're very akin to the Flesh 'Tearers' but i believe just a little more unhinged and just as nasty!

and lastly I nearly have 5,000 points of them so I really do have to say them! ;-)

No you don't. You suffer from a quite different malady. It's one quite similar to what you see with many teenagers when it comes to discusing music: the whole "If it's more than six months old, it's 'old' and therefore somehow 'bad/stupid/lame/whatever'".
Son, if it were not for that "stupid old suff" laying the groundwork, the game you presumably enjoy would not exist today. Show it some respect.(I actually prefer the lder stuff not only out of nostalgia, but I like the simply. cleaner lines to the over-done over-cluttered stuff of today. But that's another subject..)

If you have a valid reason. I would disagre of course. But if it's something like "I just don't like Dwaves in any form", then that's a valid reason. Too often you see kids who have never seen a Squat miniature in person paroting the same tired old myths and generally giving the impression that they are just saying so because it's the "cool" thing to do rather than actually forming a valid opinion. The whole "hurr hurr, if it's old it am the suxX0r" drivel that Sgtsixkilla spouts abouve is much the same.

Anyway, this is supposed to be a "fun" thread, so this will be my last words on the issue.

Nope. I judge art by it's quality, not it's age. I've seen old(er) 40K artwork of high quality, but the terrible, cartoonie, perspective-less, disproportionate stuff outweighs it by a major margin. Fact is that most of the new artwork is of higher quality, it's made by people who understands perspective and proportions, and it's more dynamic and detailed and a lot more "realistic". If you don't like any of that, sure. You would like the outdated stuff.

Grandpa, I don't care if the cr*p laid the foundation for the good stuff. The prevailing factor is that the cr*p is still cr*p. I don't have to think that cave paintings are masterpieces, just because they laid the groundwork for Rembrand's Night Watch (one of my absolute favourite artworks of all time). The fact remains that Night Watch is a higher quality work than Stick Man Throwing Stick at Stick Animal. But De gustibus non est disputandum, I guess.

WTF? I hate defending myself to morons, so I won't. Except to say that nothing I've said so far has even remotely resembled that reasoning, I've given you my reasons for why I think most of the old artwork is sh*t. You're the one with the kneejerk reaction to what I said. That, and you don't know sh*t about me.

EDIT: Oh, and there's no doubt whatsoever that you suffer from nostalgia bias. Just so you know.
