How common would these be compared to a standard Baneblade? In terms of performance, how do they really compare to the more common super heavies?

Think of something clever to say.

They are supposed to be ridiculously rare in the 40K era of Chapters. They were a relic of an era when Space Marines fought at the Legion scale.

So, in 40K? Never to Almost-Never. 30K? Probably more common.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Fellblades are more or less gone by M41, and there are no known chapters that utilize Super-Heavy tanks.

The Imperium is gradually decreasing in technological capacity and a lot of designs have been lost over the years. One can assume the Fellblade suffered this fate.

More likely that one or two survived in the hands of Chaos Marines due to daemonic possession/quirks of the Warp, honestly. Though that's probably where the Nurgle Baneblade variant in the Apocalypse book came from...

Don't you think it would just be more realistic to think that at some point, some Nurgle guys captured a Baneblade? lol

As far to the east you can get without being in Canada.

So......It would be not really realistic to have a Bandblade in any Space Marine army. Not that at some scale two gamers could say-"I'm taking a Baneblade in my (fill in Space Marine chapter) army." However in an army for display purposes you would never see one, correct?

You could say it is attached to X SM strikeforce for the duration of their campaign...
Fairly easy to realistically include one.

Sorry for the muddiness of the previous post. I am making a Space Marine army just for show, I never intend on playing it. It will take some time to get it to the size I'm going to be happy with. With that in mind would a SM army have in it as a regular piece of Armor a Baneblade, of variant thereof is really my question.

...Are the two possibilities mutually exclusive? Why not both?

Not as a permanent attachment no...

You used the term "probably". That implies a higher likelihood than any other option.

I pointed out that was probably not correct.

A Chapter still fielding a fellblade..sure why not, as far as I am concerned aslong as its a fun game go for it.

Fluffwise..well not likely but they do have rhinos dating from that era supposedly still in service, as well as other vehicles..so its not to far out of reality (considering some of the other strange things in 40k )

I would love to actually see one on the field..(and blow it up )

I suppose the Chapter most like to still have one would be the Iron Hands, what with their close ties to the mechanicum to help with maintenance.

But I can see the imperial Fists fielding one as well. mayeb with a giant mortor that can be fired out from inside a fortress and designed to kill...i dont know....trench lines perhaps?

The Fellblade like the current FW one is bascially a lazy hybrid of the Baneblade and Deimos Predators and, in my opinion, comes out the worse for it. Not worth £150+ IMHO, id expect something a lot more unique for that!

Nothing to stop you having one as an army centrepiece, just make your own version up and you could have soemthing thats much nicer than the FW one, and probably cost less ass well if you get the bits off the interweb. Good idea might be to look up the Fellblades of Renown thread on Warseer for some inspiration.
