Alright, so with Deathmarks with their hunters from hyperspace rule, any joining royal court member joining gains the rule as well. So you attach a Cryptec of Despair with their staff and Veil of Darkness. So the staff becomes useful but turning into a 2+ to wound. But here is the cheese. From what I can see from the hunters rule is that when you deploy you choose a unit and mark them so you get 2+ to wound on them. Would you get to reassign every time you Deepstrike with the unit. Your technically redeploying via deepstrike. So could you mark another unit every time you do this? I've looked around and can't find anything in FAQ that would suggest no other then maybe a loose usage of the word deploy.

A unit of DeathMarks can only use the HTH ability on one unit. When you deep strike you don't 'deploy' again you can't mark another unit.

Doesn't work, not with the cryptek deep striking, redeployment in the way of taking them back to reserve (as possible with the c'tan power) allows double mark if you deploy Second . Goes like this : you deploy them, marking somebody, before the game starts they return to reserves as if never deployed with the c'tan power and then you deploy them via their first deep strike which actually counts as deploying that moment. There you have a fully legal double mark, which can be devastating if those two units are either large numbered mobs or point-costy elite units. 2+ wound is devastating anyway you see it, add AP1 and 'no cover saves' to that and everybody trembles

But wait, in 6th edition a lot of Necron players are using Deathmarks + Veiltek compared to 5th, since the new deep strike rules says they deploy now (which 5th it didn't)
Otherwise why would they make a difference now?

Actually, in 5th the wording was similar - it also said deploy.
Ask a TO/opponent beforehand. Trying to drop it in without warning is kind of a jerk move.

This is a known trick.
Whenever you deep strike, or arrive by deep strike, you are deploying/redeploying.
The issue is with the deathmark rule, stating whenever you deploy.
Basically it's yet another matt ward rule.

BRB FAQ says the whole unit has to have the Deep Strike rule for the unit to be allowed to Deep Strike. Joining a Cryptek to the Deathmarks makes them not able to Deep Strike. But you could put them all in a Night Scythe and Deep Strike the Night Scythe, but you can't disembark until the next turn.

The Necron FAQ allows the Veil to be used coming out of Reserves. The Veil uses the rules for Deep Strike. The rules for Deep Strike tell you to deploy the unit

I thought you had to have the USR Deep Strike to DS. Veil doesn't give a unit that does it? I don't have a Necron codex...

Read the Necron FAQ.
You mean this?
Q: Can a veil of darkness be used instead of moving onto the board
when a unit arrives from reserve? (p84)
A: Yes.
I don't see anything about the unit having the DS USR...again no Necron codex.

They don't need it?
I'm not sure what your point is.

that you dont need the unit to have a flyer, you can just deploy from reserves if the cryptek has a veil, you deepstrike in and mark...
only problem is that if yo deviate to much you either mishap or are unable to use that tasty flamer so, in fact that is why they use the flyer...

There have been several threads dedicated to this.
Anyway, the general concensus is thus: RAW, it -technically- allows you to 'mark' another unit.
However, please take this into consideration: I am a Necron player, a stalwart defender of allegedly-overpowered Necron rules, and I play most of my games (unfortunately) in a very WAAC meta.
That being said, even I would call abusing the rule this way a total dick move.
