So I was thinking about taking out the cron airforce that has become so popular at my FLGS without making a list that was completely useless against everything else.

I started thinking of ways to take out the Newcron flyers and came up with a ton of vendettas. You then want an agis defense line with a quad gun and a com relay so you can make sure your vendettas come in second(you can re-roll sucessful rolls as well as unsuccessful)
You then have a mostly foot infantry list with tons of bodies behind cover to laugh off most of the withering firepower.

I should be able to squeeze enough usefullness out of the foot blobs and some artillery to do fairly well against most lists and survive the crons sans airforce.

So, you made a 6th edition list?

and hydras gimp your list against non skimmer flyer lists. Just a bunch of 75 point mobile cover platforms

I'd start with a quad gun. It's very effective for the points. Try to get someone with BS4+ to fire it if possible.
For IG, I see massed heavy weapons and BiD! Orders being very powerful. I'd splurge on lascannons and plasma over the cheaper autocannon and grenade launcher combo mostly for the AP2. Getting a kill shot on a flyer vs having to hull point strip it helps a lot. Even a weapon destroyed could neuter them.

They also play the 'oh no I can't anything else for ****' game. They are way too limited without Interceptor.

Yeah killing 4 guardsmen or something most turns really isn't an effective use for 100 point flyers and I'm not sure anyone can say that taking a fair number of vendettas is a real gimp to your list. Enjoy.
