After a long hiatus from the world of blogging, I've finally come back with some great new stuff.

In between managing the shop and trying to learn the rules to a few new (in one case older) systems, Chronopia and Flames of War to name a couple, I've been working diligently on my Chaos Space Marines. I used to have a Black Legion army two years or so ago. Well, the Black Legion Army is no more. Why? Well, they seem like the most typical CSM army out there, the Ultramarines of Chaos if you will. It didn't allow for the personal touch that I've started desiring in my models.

Enter the Reverie of Silence (RoS), my custom CSM warband, led by the Chaos Lord Azhor (Abaddon). The RoS is suspiciously similar to the Black Legion army as in being Undivided as well as having access to followers of all of the Chaos Gods (you know, because I had the models already put together for that).

Lore (Still under construction, and comments/suggestions are appreciated):

The Reverie was once a powerful chapter called the Angels Morose, (a sub-chapter of the Blood Angels who took a vow of silence) who fought to end the taint of Chaos that was spreading throughout the galaxy. However, sometime during the 36th millennia, they arrived on the snow covered world of Ikrund VII to provide support for the Imperial Guard company, the Isden Snowhawks, who were holding off a daemonic incursion on this newly claimed planet.

What the Angels Morose didn't know though was that Chaos was spreading throughout the company like the plague, which quickly spread to the Chapter Masters. The Imperium never heard from the Chapter or the Company again. There is currently a fragile alliance between the RoS and the renegade Snowhawks.

The Reverie of Silence will enter the battle, and without a shout towards their gods or a cry of pain, they lay waste across the field. Azhor has seemed to have struck a deal with the Chaos Gods, pledging the souls of his followers to each of the gods in return for granting him each of their boons. This rare 'unified Chaos' spread throughout the ranks, and each of the gods began claiming souls for their own, only a handful of the followers were able to retain their claim to the will of Chaos Undivided.

So, now that the background and lore is wrote, enter the actual models! This all began when I got my Dark Vengeance box set. I realized that there are very very few white colored Chaos Warbands. So I got this idea for a new warband that wore bone white and gold trim as their primary colors.

Here's how I'm painting them.

For all of the army, I'm basing them in white, I want the colors to show up more brightly than not.

Also, I haven't had a chance to dig out my photobox to get better pics of these guys, apologies.

For the 'Undivided' part of the army main color
-first layer is Ushatbi Bone
-then wash with Seraphim Sepia
-Drybrush with Tyrant Skull
-Then a highlight drybrush of Praxeti White

For the gold part of this-
-first layer: Balthasar Gold
-drybrush Golden Griffon
-highlight with Auric Armour Gold

The guns and various metal pieces are a midnight blue
-Kantor Blue Base
-Asurman Blue wash
-Drybruth Etherium Blue

I use this combination on all of my models, as I always leave the left arm/armor pad with this coloring. I feel that's a good way to keep my warband united throughout all of their various followers.

For any of my followers of Tzeetch, the blue I'm using is:
-base layer of Kantor Blue
-2nd layer of Altdorf Guard Blue
-the new wash that's the equivalent of Asurman Blue
-drybrush Alaitoc Blue
-drybrush highlight of Etherium Blue

For my followers of Slaanesh:
-Slaanesh Skin:
-Mechanicus Standard Grey base layer
-2nd layer of Slaanesh Grey
-Leviathan Purple Wash
-Longbeard Grey Drybrush

For the actual armor
-base layer of Changling Pink
-2nd layer of Genestealer Purple
-Leviathan Purple Wash
-Lucious Lilac drybrush

That's all I've got for right now, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing for Khorne or Nurgle at the moment. Khorne will most likely be the standard red, however for Nurgle I've been considering black for those units. But then again, there is always the classic Dark Green.[img]

Well, I've gotten a little further on this army. I'm still working on the obliterators, and I completely forgot to take pictures of my Beserkers, however, I've got enough for a small update.

My Khorne Terminator Lord, equipped with dual Power Lances. Why? He's more of a showpiece than an actual HQ choice, but, it seemed kinda fun to use this idea. I can just visualize him rampaging through IG lines, tearing everyone up.

Azor, my Abaddon stand in, and the leader of my warband. I hate the static pose of Abaddon, so I kitbashed him with a Terminator lord. Simple yet effective conversion.

My obliterators, almost completely done. I'm marking all of my oblits with Nurgle, and Mutiliators with Khorne. So I'll have 3 cults of 3 for each.

Spoiler:

Advert your eyes! Boobies!

My Slaaneshi Daemon Princess. I'll be using her as a Daemon prince of Slaanesh (whenever it fancies me) in my CSM army, and as a Keeper of Secrets in my Daemons force. Her model is from Ultraforge. If you ever get one of those, make sure you coat it completely with the spray paint base. I missed a spot and had to do some touch up with the Imperial Primer paint pot, and the plastic did not like it. Took 2 or 3 coats to completely cover a few of the areas.

That's it for now. Until next time, Happy Painting!

What model is the slaneeshy DP/KOS?
It doesnt look like a GW/FW one....

Looking good though!

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

I love their miniatures, sometimes the plastic is a little weird with the primer, but, once you get it working, your minis will definitely stand out.

I'm glad I found this blog early on, looking forward to seeing what you do next.

The best thing is the color scheme that runs throughout your army. It creates a very cohesive look and ties everything together. The bone white is well done (especially like the Hellbrute) and overall this is a decent project.

Subbed and I'll be back.

Yes sir. Washed and cleaned and then spray painted.

Thanks man. I just didn't like the idea of so many Chaos warbands being super dark, and I thought that the unifying left arm made it look like a warband that was led with proper leadership. Not as chaotic as most people would like, but, I feel the overall goal of destroying the followers of the false emperor is grand enough that they can all get along for awhile.

The past two weeks I've been suffering from painter's block. The whole idea of painting just didn't seem fun until I looked at an old Daemon Prince model and was like, why the frack not.

So, here I am, with a finished Daemon Prince and my finished up Tzeentch Terminators. Picture quality seems lacking, so I apologize for that. I really need to not be lazy and dig my photobox out.
