Which special character is your favourite? This probably already exists somewher, but in case it doesn't, it can be based on fluff, tabletop, whatever.
Personally, it's close between Ghazghkull Thraka, Logan Grimnar, Arjac Rockfist and Njal Stormcaller.

Ragnar always seemed a bit short-lived to me, really. Why can't he have Terminator Armour or at the very least Artificier Power Armour?!

I can not lock down one favorite, but fluff speaking for the codexes I would say - IG - Yarrick (what a survivor) , Eldar - Eldrad , Chaos Marines - Ahriman oh yeah, Chaos Daemons - Fateweaver and Tzeench in general, Orks - Ghazgul Mag Uhlrik Thrakka and Mad Doc and Old Zoggy and the old Second edition Runtherder that made Super Grots! , Grey Knights - Coteaz (though I hate his falcon.. ), Tau - Farsight, Squats - the Trike riders, Harlequins - The Solitare, Dark Eldar - The Duke, Slann - they look like toads how can they not be cool! , Blood Angels - good old Mephy, Space Wolves - Lucas and Grimnar, Sisters - St. Celestine, Necrons - the Original Ctan Nightbringer... Did I forget anyone... lol

Armies
Eldar, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, Eldar Corsairs, Orks, Tyranids, Genestealer Cult, Chaos, Choas Space Marines, Tau, Sisters of Battle, Inquisition, Necrons, Space Marines, Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Imperial Knights, Dark Angels, Imperial Guard, Ad Mech, Knights, Skaven, Sylvaneth

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Typhus has always been one of my favorites. Now I call myself a hipster Typhus player because I was using him last edition too

I really do love his background and such. A truly tragic figure who has become a monster!

I always attributed Ragnar's lack of Terminator armor to his own style. He's always been someone who lived on speed and instincts rather than relying on armor and toughness. In addition, since he went to the Wolf Guard straight from being a Blood Claw, he never picked up the flexibility to really make effective use of all the weapon options available to a wearer of Terminator warplate.

Typhus is the only only CSM to actually exceed his primarch in favour from his god. That's right grandfather burgle actually likes typhus more than Mortarion. His entire ship the Terminus Est was infected by nurgles most potent disease the destroyer hive. The destroyer hive killed every single person on the ship except typhus, it actually lives in his body/armour now as a symbiot. Typhus is also one of those rare few who was kindof and evil dude from the very start.

Yarrick is really hard to deny, I mean the guys arm got cut off by an ork war boss so he killed the war boss and took his arm.

Purely fluff wise though I have to throw Sevetar of the Night lords in as well. He was considered one of the three most dangerous close combat fighters during the heresy. He is pure f&@$ing evil and he coined the phrase 'death to the false emperor'

I could probably name more that are bad ass as hell but ill stick with those 3 as they are the first that came to mind.

Yriel.

Decent fluff behind him(spear's name is cheesy), fits perfectly with my corsair army (love the IA11 corsair book), one of the most cost effective melee units, and such a badass that he can simply stare you to death in 6th with his bale eye (all wounds in challenges are allocated to the one model he is challenging).

Oh great Lord Slaanesh, send forth your servant, the Daemon Prince Doomrider!
Let our enemies tremble in ruptured awe before his fearsome visage!
Grant them an exquisite death, crushed beneath the flaming wheels of his chromium steed!
Permit them the ecstasy of being slaughtered by Doomrider's throbbing Daemonsword and his pulsating gun of gushing plasma!
Bestow on them one fleeting moment of pleasure as they stare in wonder and orgasmic delight at one of your most divine creations before dying at his hand!
Oh great Lord Slaanesh, for these reasons and many others that tease and titillate our imaginations, we beseech you, send forth your servant, the Daemon Prince Doomrider!

My favorite character is an old out of date one, but I think is quite unique. It's Nuadhu "Fireheart" from the 3rd edition Eldar codex.

A Saim-Hann commander riding into battle on the back of a Vyper, which has been modified into a chariot so he can fight from it's back with a spear. Sure, he has the downside the weak armor of a Vyper, but fights in close combat like a Dreadnought, can ignore Stunned and Shaken vehicle results, in addition to being a Vyper with the hit-and-run abilities of a Guardian jetbike, and being able to lead a jetbike squadron and make them ignore pinning and never fall back.

I never understood why he never made the translation to the latest Codex, though my friendly games still include him, with house rules.

For 70 points, that's not nearly half bad for an Eldar army, especially as I field a "Corsair" army that closely follows Saim-hann teachings, so he makes a "commander" that's much more fluffy than just an Autarch/Farseer on a Jetbike.
