Depending on which models you own, I just read a summary of the necron codex and it appears they have no shortage of ways to rape marines coming in from drop pods. Remember that drop pod armies, by default, piecemeal themselves.

Trust me you don't want the old ones. They look a lot better than the new ones, but they are the biggest pain of any model I have ever worked with. They are super fragile and always breaking on me. The thin metal and small bonding surfaces for the arms always give me fits. My wraiths look like a horror show, which is somewhat fitting I suppose. But to save yourself the hassle I would just suggest the new plastic models, plastic > metal in most cases.

There is also the massive size difference to consider, but I agree 100%, the Plastic Wraiths are the better choice.

I actually prefer the look of the new Wraiths, to the old ones myself.

But I like the old ones so much more and the plastic pieces break off way too easily no matter what I do especially the whip coils!

I got the "cyber arthropods" from puppetswar. A set of 6 costs less than a pack of 3 GW wraiths.

They are a little bit smaller than the new ones though (but abotu the same size as the old ones).

Edit: was going to post a link but it looks like Puppetswar dont stock them anymore.

I'd look into investing in more wraiths - sounds like you have plenty of scarabs. I've found people who have given up on Necrons who are unloading stuff for cheap - that's how I got to 18 wraiths.

I run 2x6 wraiths (with decked out DLs) and 1x10 scarabs followed up by a unit of 3 spyders to feed the small farm. I would prefer going against a dop pod army. Saves me a turn of running across the board Believe me if a couple of scarabs, one complete unit of wraiths and a partial unit start mixing it up with your opponent it will get messy (termies with shields aside).

I got mine from the Dakka swap shot and Craigslist just before the new codex came out last fall. (I also prefer the old metal ones.)

While I love the cohesive look of the newer Wraiths, I must disagree strongly with the others here. On their own, my preference is for the older metal versions; and I would say their fragility is being overplayed. In any case, the size difference can be a huge advantage when skulking around the battlefield.

I have 3 plastic wraiths so i can switch out a metal one at any given point for size difference

I have 3 Wraith squads available to me. 6 Old school GW Metal Wraiths, 6 New GW Wraiths and the 6 Puppetswar Wraiths. I do prefer the look and size of the Puppetswar Wraiths but they are terribly brittle and one of the sculpts was a little warped in the two sets I have. A few of the Puppetswar whip coils were broken before I assemble even one and at least two have broken after painting.

yeah....i have ended up using them as "cobra" wraith as the arms and coild have all snapped durign transport/building.

But at the discount vs. GW wraiths i'm not complaining.

It looks like volume to production cost probably dropped out on these or they got similar complaints to mine due to the fragile nature of the models. There is no way in my amature legal opinion GW would have any leg to stand on against puppetswar in regard to the cyber robot models.

GW does not care much about legal claims, their lawyers just love handing out friendly letters to scare people off.

Not so much after the judge disagreed in the Chapterhouse case. It's not settled yet but it did put a dent in GW's unfounded legal actions.
