Subject: Space marines converting/painting/gaming/everything else blog
I have been playing warhammer 40k for over two(or was it three) years, mordheim for a year and playing Hobbit a month or so. Also recently I started writing a paper for my school exams and it was then when I decided to start this blog, where I will post my progress to the evergrowing collection of models every wargamers will have/know of.
lets start with the armies I have. I have aprox 2500 pts of Space marines(vanilla), 1250-1500 pts of Tyranids and a few Chaos Space marines(Dark Vengeance).
before I bought Dark vengeance I was mostly busy gaming, and painting and modeling was all in service of gaming, however, now I'm more and more busy painting and modeling, resulting in fabulous models(I guess).
I will be uploading pictures later, but this was my intro :p
happy gaming!

Subject: Re:Space marines converting/painting/gaming/everything else blog
new update, new information! I got time for some pictures! YAY!
at first, an example of how my painting is
here's a collection of my tactical squads, two in my chapters color scheme, and the dark angels painted in DA colorscheme because of the DA heraldry, and I wanted a challenge to paint them, the black marines in just too simple
and now, I'm starting on a new project:
I wanted to add something new to my army. scouts. I already have 5 snipers but they dont do that much, so I barely use them. I also have 8 scout bikes, but with terrible paintjobs.. might wanna work on that one day.. well, but I wanted scouts added to my army, prepared for CC, and with a landspeeder, because I like landspeeders. this idea came up a few weeks ago, but yeah, MONEY... however, several day later I was watching the movie Lawless(recomended, great movie) about some Al capone style moonshiners, ridin' 'round the country with their old timer. This I found such a great idea to field somthing like that next to my genetically modified superior space marines. just the idea of some outlaws kicking ass on the field made me do this.
next to that I'm working on a landspeeder buggy conversion, but I'm not far with that. pictures will follow.
well, that all for now, but there'll be more!
happy gaming

back again, and now armed with pictures!
after having struggled the entire evening with this bugger, it is done(for abot 80%)
the scouts that should be in the back I happily thank GW, they now are an extension to my scout company
pics aren't working on this pc, you'll have to use these links:
because I wanted to use the scouts, I had to make another HB for on the landspeeder. Luckily I have some revell tanks in my display, ready for destuction. I used an M2 as HB on the landspeeder buggy, and you'll see what I did with the original one in a sec....
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/442511-landspeeder%20buggy%20WIP.html?m=2
here are they scouts, I think they came out great, because of all the special poses. It was fun to think of how to make them a bit more normal, especially the one reloading on a tyranid warrior skull
okay, I had a night of thinking about it, and.....
I'm gonna paint my guys to Deathwatch! (not all of them, the dark angels tactical squad will stay, and the Dark Vengeance HQ's will also be DA schemed)
now, because I liked the idea of giving character to my models, I want no shoulderpad to be the same(on one side)
therefore I ask your help:
submit a pic of your chapter's color scheme(and perhaps some background to 'earn' a special place)
and I'll try and get them all in my army(need to get about 60 different pads done)
so please help, I'd like to see this work, and I'll be painting them all Deathwatch!
chapter master/captain on bike (stormbolter/power sword)
so, you can just send me a picture, then it'll most likely end up on a standard scout/marine, or you can send me some fluff and opt for a more special place...
I'd love to see this work, and one day I'll have the DakkaDeathwatch united
right now, we have 72/73 models free(telion will be an ultrasmurf)
maybe I'll find some more models later on, but then I'll keep you updated!

If you'd like to go the big flavour-related Librarian, then my current Blood Ravens librarian would make a good deathwatch model. because Blood Ravens have high concentrations of powerful psykers. Colour scheme wise, look here: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Blood_ravens#.UOVh9W_nt_c

yay im very happy to have interested people here(and on my other thread in general discussion)
okay, all three reactions I have so far are blood raven or successors, but hey, i got 73 shoulderpads, who cares?! atleast they differ a little, and that is enough keep it coming please, I'll need a whole lot more!!
68/73 free
1 ultramarine Telion
HumeyKillar
1 blood raven librarian(If I get a better chapter for him I'll switch as he is a main character so he may be switched later on)
sYn
1 striking skull tactical marine
M0rdain
1 Thousand Sons/Blood Raven marine
Still Standing
1 Celestial Lion tactical marine
Lynata
also I found out that some of the sniper scouts have their cloaks over their pads, and my libby has a book on it(EMPEROR PROTECTS), but dont worry, in those cases I'll paint some other part or something, so still 73 different models to do!
then I'd want to ask you guys what model should get your shoulder pad - right now it is up to me to decide what guy fits best to your fluff...
THANKSTHANKSTANKS in advance,
Humey.

I find it funny that in the other thread I suggested my loyalist Thousand Sons splinter, somebody here suggested the Blood Ravens, and a third person suggested a Blood Raven successor. Great minds think alike, or three fools one thought?
Anyway, I'm quite interested in this, as I want to do a mixed Loyalist Heresy army so I will be eagerly watching to see how it looks. Keep it up!
For reference, here is the picture I posted before, and a couple of others for the colour scheme. They are all still PiP though. :(
Spoiler:
Late Thousand Sons or early Raven Guard.

Great Thanks!
keep in mind though that if you upload pictures(wich I like BIG times) don't overload the thread, and please upload something showing a shoulderpad with your chapter symbol on it
not to blame anyone, but just a tip
thanks already!

alright, got some work done today, and got all my tacticals ready for their Deathwatch jobs
as a test, I painted one up in the Sons of Orar scheme, with a little variation(swapped the colors halfway, red omega-white background on back half, white omega-redbackground on the other half) and I wanted to show you him, but my camera decided to have a day off(dead batteries) so no pics today :(
also, I started on a salamander pad for a marine w/flamer
as for now, we have:
66 free pads,
1 ultramarine
1 Son(s) of Orar
1 Salamander
1 Blood Raven
1 Thousand sons successor
1 Celestial Lion
1 Striking Skull
we're at 7 now, keep it coming!

ps: feel free to come with a second design if you'd like to

Nice blog! I'm on a DW kick myself just now, running as counts-as SW as that seems to really fit.
Anyway, Weeping Angels:
Spoiler:
The origins of these eerie, stone clad astartes are unclear. There is considerable disagreement amongst scholars as to their exact provenance, though it is clear they belong to a successor chapter of the Blood Angels. The majority of records would indicate that they are are a successor of the Lamenters, though there is compelling research that indicates they are entirely comprised of Lamenters rather than from its gene stock. There are those within the Administratum also that maintains they are Lamenters but from the Battle Cruiser LACRIMOSA, which never participated in the Badab conflict as it was lost in a warp storm following the destruction of an Exquisition Hell Barge. Still others point to the Lamenter custom of a white-garbed death company, further noting that it is almost unheard of for any other than their Death Company to take the field.
Whatever the truth in the mysteries, there is agreement:
They are possessed of a beauty more radiant, more savage, than even Sanguinus's first born;
They arrive, and strike, with a speed that almost defies belief;
They cry tears in battle. for the fallen some say, though none know truly for whom;
And all souls heed their chapter motto: Ne Nicte - Don't blink.

If you need another chapter you're more then welcome to paint up an Ice Angel. They are a Blood Angel successor chapter.
Fluff wise, they are primarily void specialists but when required to deploy on planets they use drop pods and jump packs extensively. If you want more fluff I actually have an entire thread for it. Ice Angel Fluff
I have been painting some guys for now,
most of them are done, but I still am lacking photo possibilities :(
Right now, I have:
ultramarines scout(Telion)
blood raven librarian
Iron hands sargeant w/ powerfist plasma pistol
salamanders marine w/ flamer
death spectres marine w/missile launcher
celestial lions marine
mentors marine
thousand sons successor marine
striking skulls marine
also,
given away spots:
ice angels
weeping angels
lamenters
all in all, I have 12 different chapters, so I'll need 61 more.. keep it coming guys, and submit a second design if you'd like to!
really need the help.
also, please explain what model you would like to represent your chapter, i.e. the flamer marine is a salamander for a reason(salamanders love flamers and meltas), my librarian is a blood raven, because they have lots and lots of potent psykers.
so if you are submitting something, please say(if possible) what model you'd like to represent your chapter, with as reason [fluff]
thanks a lot so far!!!!

Surely if you want your most powerful Psycher to be a Blood Raven because they're powerful psychers, you'd want it to be a Thousand Son, as they are the genesis of the Blood Ravens...

I dont want any chaos chapters in my deathwatch, that would cause confusion..
The thousand sons successors are on edge, but their scheme is different enough

Not really. My guy I posted above is more or less the thousand sons colour scheme. Thousand sons had white shoulders, my guys bone, that's the only difference... They even have the same symbol! Might want to look up e Blood Ravens on lexicanum.

When people talk about thouand sons, I think of blue and gold with perhaps a little white.
You said your chapter is a successor of it, and it doesnt look like thousand sons enough, so I include them.
When someone suggests just thousand sons without an original color scheme, I will not include them, it will cause confusion on the field.
But thanks for all the ideas so far, keep it coming!

@inmygravenimage how did you do your weeping angels color scheme? I am trying, but can't get the right colors on it...
@Iceangel I am interested in what blues and what red/orange you use, my color panel isn't that big, but with some mixing it'll work(I hope)
to all others who read this, HELP ME!
I need 61 more different color schemes, and I wouldn't like to make and design them all myself to deny you the possibility to include your chapter in my Deathwatch army - making your chapter all the more famous as my marines won't go to war nameless!
come up with your own chapters color scheme, or think up one, when you're not playing marines, or when you want to send in a second(or third) design, or suggest an existing chapter for a specific model(are there chapters famous for thunderfire cannons for example? and what chapters make use of mainly scouts?)
All the help is welcome, and even a derailing about pre- and postheresy thousand sons is welcome (though we've had that one now, perhaps another derailing?)
well, just bring on all your ideas and I see what I can do with them

oh haha, forgive me - I do not know that many chapters
and in that case, yes good idea, I will include them somewhere, did you have a particular spot in mind? and a special shoulderpad would be great indeed, but how do we do that?(with that pad he'll most likely will become a sargeant somewhere, perhaps the termies?)
