Update 20/2/13

Hello all and welcome to another update.
Today we are looking at the work I have done so far to the Assault cannon.
This has proven to be tricky but has been worth it.
We have 18 lights on the cannon, The cannon will revolve at about 60-80 rpms
and when this happens the lights on the side should form 2 lines around the barrels
and in the front when done will give a shooting affect when looking down the barrel
of the cannon. Later on in the cannon build this will be more apparent.
[Thumb - photo (6).JPG]
this is the barrels with no real paint and with the lights off.

[Thumb - photo (3).JPG]
looking at the side with the lights on.

[Thumb - photo (2).JPG]

[Thumb - photo (5).JPG]
you need to be seen at night in the carnival.

[Thumb - photo (1).JPG]
Down the barrel so far at night. this is just the start of the cannon build more to do.

dang, well done.
As for the the timing on the sound,
use a laser sensor or a small switch for when the barrel passes the bar of the assault cannon (they are briefly lined up), cue sound from a small chip system. Or simple clock work if you dont want to program.

I have made some parts for the Assault cannon and I have added them.

This is Partly painted and more is to be done.

Rear corner, As you can see its almost as big as the dinning table where 6 people can sit down for food.

[Thumb - photo (18).JPG]
Side, I measured the scale for the length of the cannon arm to the barrel length, its about right and looks right to me.

[Thumb - photo (15).JPG]
corner, I like the collars on the front as it gives extra armour for the cannon and looks hardcore.

[Thumb - photo (19).JPG]
You can see the two speakers here with extra base so making 10 in total.

[Thumb - photo (20).JPG]
I would not want to be shot by this weapon, It would make you holy, praise be to god.

[Thumb - photo (23).JPG]
Lights on looking down the barrel of a mighty gun.

[Thumb - photo (22).JPG]
This is what its like when firing with lights on. Assault cannon online!!!

Wow. You are actually ridiculous.

That looks amazing. Its funny, when GW painted the 1:1 Rhino last year, the finish was so crappy overall, with just one, Ultramarine blue over the whole thing. You're work is so beautifully textured, it puts them to shame.

Gamesday is normally August / September?
Gamesday was July last year, and there's nothing for GWUK Games Day up on the site. :(
They let in people dressed as Space Marines and such, your only real issue will be fitting through doors, and the turnstyles.
You'd probably have to take it in in pieces, then reattach everything and put it on once inside.

UPDATE 04/3/13

Good day to you all.

Time is ticking away and the days and months are passing us by.
Three months and about 24 days till first carnival at South Brent
The man in the model shop is looking at the finishing touches to the Assault cannon arm.
I now have to adapt the trailer so the costume can be transported without getting damaged.
I need to take the main body to Exmouth 8 miles away to get some lighting installed into it.
Also the legs have to be started, I am still in the planning stage for them. My first stop will be
to the cobblers. He will give me a funny look when I ask him to do something he has not done before, should be fun for him

Hey,
Magnificent as always. Not sure if you've considered this, but maybe add some litanies and scrolls to the beast? Other things would be a terminator honour badge, a tyranid skull badge and/or similar. Just my 2 british pence.

Wow, haven't been following you up till now. I always wondered what it would be like to dress up as a dreadnought or marine but was always unable too since I'm too short. Anyway, Your work is amazing but I'm concerned that its too heavy to move around in.

Welcome to the thread Ledabot, Last year I was the demon doing martial arts in the carnival with an 8 foot polearm. I have done martial arts for 30 years here is a link to my youtube channel so you can have a look if
you wish http://www.youtube.com/user/Paullugg?feature=mhee.

As I study Ninjutsu and the martial arts of japan, I use the carnival as a way of training. Last year i was a in your face demon as i have said this year I have gone for the ninja art of mind games, deception and fighting in armour.

Mind games, this is done though the quotes and messages of the dreadnought making people think and to learn the reactions from people in the crowd.

Deception, The look and the fear factor of the dreadnought, this is working here as people keep telling me this maybe to heavy to carry. The way I have built it makes it look that way and like a metal robot.

Fighting in armour, the samurai used to fight in armour, so carrying this dreadnought is part of my training.

Paul Lugg,
Ninja in dreadnought armour. Come to the carnival and make my day .

Sadly, the chances that I can come to your carnival are slim. I live on the other side of the world after all.
Its good that it is movable, or else it wouldn't make a very good costume would it. It does appear deceivingly heavy like you say.
