i didnt win the game but this was too funny to not bring up.
I was playing a 1500pt game as Orks vs Ultramarines. Bulk of my army was boyz, 2 dakkajets, and a dakkawagon (lootas + BW) with a MANz missile in reserve. The MANz missile refusing to come in till turn 4 probably made me lose but thats not what im going to mention.
Turn one, i failed to steal the initiative so he went first. He deepstriked a Landraider with 6 Terminators equipped with hammers and shields (2+ armor, 3+ invul, double str and brings my group to initiative one if he lands a hit) and his boss guy (forget his name, the guy that allowed the deepstrike to begin with). He disembarks, and because of the Assault vehicle rule he is allowed to assault a group of 20 shoota boyz + 2 big shootas with no nob.
Overwatch, i shoot 18 shootas and 3 big shootas (42 shots). Landed half of them, wounded half of the ones i landed. His 2 up save failed on all but 2 terminators and 1 remaining wound on his boss. I laughed my ass off so hard i forgot to point out he moved 12 inches then disembarked, but i was more than willing to "forget" that since i pulled off such a rediculous feat with 130pts of boyz rofl.
Had my MANz arrived before turn 4 i probably could have finished them up and went on to the rest of the game, which wasnt much. Bad rolls screwed me though. But that first fight....i couldnt stop laughing lol

My last two terminators (a normal termie and a cyclone termie) get charged by 5 berserkers and a lord. Both storm bolters hit, and one krack missile hit during overwatch. Krack missile doesnt wound, but both stormbolter hits do. Two failed saves.
I pick up dice with 5s and 4s, it often seems like the ones with 1s and 6s facing up roll a lot of ones. I also only use rounded edged dice, square dice and I don't get along well. My vehicles also get kill marks for vehicle kills (my sole chimera stands at 3, and is invincible from the side. Hits to the front armour are practically auto-kills.)

My Librarian will always lose a Close Combat on things he should wallop, such as Firewarriors.

Per BRB, Assault vehicle doesnt mention anything about from reserve yes. However, in the Ultramarine codex it does. Codex trumps BRB, and it even specifically says from reserve in their codex. Thats how he was allowed to do that.
Seeing as how Ultramarines dont even have a FAQ, it isnt FAQ'd.

What is this Ultramarines codex you mention? Is it different from the Space Marines Codex which is not without FAQ?

My friend had stupendously good luck. In a tournament he had 6 firewarriors charge a 5 man space marine bike squad in a last ditch attempt to get them off an objective. They proceeded to kill 3 bikers with no casualties in return then perform a successful sweeping advance. This was on table 1 in the final round of the tournament and his oppenent was so annoyed he hit the table hard enough to break one of the bones in his hand...
My superstition is talk to dice before important rolls, keep them in piles of 9 dice (tzeentch) and have them all on 6's facing up. I alo don't use games workshop dice because they statistically roll 1's 20 somthing % of the time.

Daemons 32/1/1

Something like 19% of the time.
But that's any round edged / hollow gaming dice, not just GWs.
You need casino-grade, solid straight edged dice, that must be bounced off a vertical surface to ensure a properly even, 16% replacing them any time there's a chip or crack.
But they're a lot larger (generally 19mm over 6), so impractical for rolling en-masse, don't last all that well, and very expensive.
So to ensure the even 1/6 ratio, you'd need a felt lined box, and roll every time so the dice bounce off the sides, as well as a group of dice that cost roughly... £2.60-£3 (US$4-5) each.
Not sure if it's a superstition, but I never give up. If I've been wiped out to but 1 man, there's still a chance I can win it!

Other than that, I try to remember to either paint or give battle honors to units that do well, and dice that roll ones on anything except leadship are set to the side (until I forget why I set them there and use them again, doh)
