I like the look of the Barricade kit:

And the price is just great. Will pick up one for my Infinity table.

The back of the barricade kit looks good but the front is very plain. I think I will stick with my Warmill one.

From the opening post:

It's laser-cut MDF

On the website he mentions MFD and etched medium density fiberboard on different products.

They should ship later this week. Hopefully I get them by this coming weekend and can take some pictures of what was sent and MAYBE even have a chance to do some work on them. Having said that, I have a few competing projects right now. I have to finish my Stop-N-Rob shop now that I have the parking lot for it, have a laser cut cart for my Rorkes Drift set assembled but needing paint, have a couple laser cut pirate ships to work on, Dreadball figs to assemble, AND the Escape from Goblin Town figs to assemble and get primed...

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that the orders should ship out tomorrow and the next day. We will be putting up some video instructions for assembling everything on Thursday or Friday. Hopefully, we will have some new stuff to show off after completing all our current orders.

I'm looking forward to mine! FInished up a quick paint job on the Rorkes Drift cart I mentioned above, and have my stop-n-rob on the work table. I hope to knock that out before these show up.

We are shipping orders as quickly as we can. By tomorrow we should have shipped everything ordered on or before New Year's Day. We have upgraded some shipments to priority mail to get them to you faster.

Also, we would appreciate it if you would take a look at some of the designs on our blog and let us know what you think. We don't get much time to play all the new games that came out last year so if you see any compatibility issues or have any insights to share please let us know.

Grrrrr,

The Angriest Badger

PS: We appreciated the Kentucky Fried Movie reference sent by one of our customers so much that we shipped his delivery... to Detroit!

I am looking forward to Dark Elf fortress walls
Maybe also consider a Dark Elf fence corral for keeping Cold Ones or slaves. You might need thinner wood for that one.

My sets arrived today. I don't have time to take pictures but they do look really good.

They should fit in decently with the terrain in the Escape From Goblin Town set but:

1. The support posts will be thicker than the plastic posts in the GW set.

2. Unlile the plastic set, there is no detail on the bottom of the platforms.

Neither of those issues bothers me a bit. I DO think these will also work for other gaming genres and fully intend to use them with multiple settings.

I am very pleased with what I got and feel that the value for dollars spent is darned good.

Okay, A few pictures of what I got, and a shot with some similar plastic terrain so folks can compare.

I ordered two sets, this makes up everything delivered. I need to contact the Angry Badger because what I actually got does not completely match up numbers wise with what I expected. No major problems though. Again, this set is well worth the price in my opinion.

The pictures really don't capture the laser etched wood grain well, the pieces look a lot better in hand than on the screen.

Jake, we sent you an email to try to take care of our mistake.

We have received some feedback that the base frame supports could be more sturdy. So we will send out replacements to everyone who has already ordered a Ramshackle Camp and new orders will only receive the new supports.

Dwarf terrain will be up sometime next week.

One thing just occurred to me--painting MDF is not like painting plastic. Please don't apply a water-based wash to the model without sealing it first! That would be bad. MDF is wood and it tends to curlicue when wet enough. We recommend sealing the model with some kind of varnish, preferrably spray varnish, or you can even use spray paint without causing noticible warping. We are experimenting on scraps to see if acrylic paint or Future Floor Wax will work as sealant. (The burned edges don't seem to take acrylics well but we have to experiment again and again, for science.)

We are working on tips for painting and gluing MDF and hope to have them up in a day or two.

We have video instructions on how to assemble the Ramshackle camp here:

(Please be sure to comment on Terry's crazy hair.)

We are still completing orders right now, but have had to limit our hours of opoeration due to noise complaints. That's right, our laser is so powerful it keeps the neighbors up at night.

Thanks for your patience.

The Angriest Badger

Do you plan on adding different structures to your list, such as more industrial type structures?

Well I've ordered on of the corridor kits to spruce up my existing corridors (made from foamcore, peterboro and foamboard) and I think it's going to do the job admirably well. Will post more once I receive the set.

I've not had experience with MDF too much yet, but it does warp pretty easily. My fiancée recommends that both sides be painted if giving an undercoat. She says it will balance out the process in the wood. She used to do a lot of projects with mdf during her Fine Arts degree.

And she is always right.

What do you mean by industrial? Are you looking for a large factory building facade, or something you can put models inside? We are working on something related to high tech construction, but it won't be out for a while yet. Hint: It might be 8 to 10 inches tall...

Also, we are trying to avoid covering ground that's been covered by bigger, more established companies, so if we do make an industrial kit we need to think of a way to make it stand out from the competition.

We are also working on putting up more videos and tips for working with MDF. Unfortunately, we've been delayed by having to deal with the noise complaints and figure out a way to use the laser without turning the HOA against us with torches and pitchforks. We are a little bit behind now, but we have caught up on orders and I hope to be able to put up some new items soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

@ TheAngriestBadger - The "Industrial Towers/ Structures" comments are not serious, they are referencing an extremely old in-joke / meme that refers to a thread posted several years ago on Dakka about "Space Corridors and Industrial Towers". I can't find the actual thread, but here's a thread that explains it:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/325654.page

You posted some space corridors, so the comments about industrial towers are simply referencing that meme.

Yes, this is one of the weirder parts of the internet. :p

With that out of the way, I'd just like to say that your ideas for future products sound amazing, the dwarf halls are looking fantastic with the multiple levels of detail, fortress walls will go great with the towers, and the dropship sounds wonderfully ambitious, there have been a lot of companies making terrain out of laser-etched wood, but so far no-one has made a vehicle kit out of the material.

With the dwarf halls, if the floor pieces are compatible with the "Dwarf Kings Hold" games from Mantic (the tiles have 25mm squares), you might get some nice bonus sales there, and I'd happily promote the hell out of them. Looks like they're around that size already and could be cut to shape by the buyer to match the room sizes, with a paintjob to pick out where the tiles start and end?

They are online now:

Dwarf Grand Entrance ( $34.95 ):

BTW wouldn't it be better now to change delivery method, now that USPS doubled their prices for international shipping?

@ CptJake: Thanks for putting up the pictures! I really appreciate that.

@ ScarletSquig: The Dwarf Halls have tiles about 1 inch square, so they should work. However, we can always tweak the dimensions before cutting to make the pieces work for whatever scale is needed.
We are still working on more ambitious kits and hope to start moving them up on the site faster now. Between the noise problem and an epic struggle against the USPS it has been a busy month.

@DaBoss: Thanks! We are putting out two kits, with the possibility for more if there is a lot of interest.

@Knighthaunter: What are you looking for in a paint rack? (You said "painT rack," right?) We are planning on making a lot of gaming accessories, so please tell us more about things gamers are looking for.

The Dwarf Halls are now live, although there are some errors in the description part of the site that I am working out right now and I am going to start a new thread to discuss new releases.

This was a matter of some discussion among the Angry Badger staff. We are kind of looking into FedEx and UPS, but have had a lot of negative experiences with those companies. Terry has shipped a lot of things over the years and he hasn't had one order with FedEx go right. UPS still seems to be very expensive, too.

The solution we came up with was to use USPS, but to reduce the shipping cost for consumers. We didn't want someone to order $60 worth of terrain and then see $20 in shipping at the end of checkout, so we tried to keep shipping around $6 for the first item and $4 for each additional item (and about double for international). We want to offer free shipping for orders over a certain amount, and it looks like $120 might be doable. Unfortunately, we've had to raise prices a bit to compensate for this, but we tried to keep them reasonable. We are still tweaking things a little bit, but we realized that we had to stop fiddling with shipping and start releasing new products at some point.
