So, as 6th has become shootyK, I'm shaping up to include some Tac marines in my BA.

Not sure how best to equip though.

Currently thinking M/L still offers some versatility coupled with a PG as a spec weapon, as I can deploy plenty of mobile melta with an Assault squad, and possibly a combi flamer on the Sgt for overwatch or opportunism.

Would be interested to hear Dakka's thoughts before I break out the glue!

I play DA so plasma, plasma, and more plasma. However I'll always equip one squad with a lascannon and a flamer, combat squadding with a Rhino. Always worked well for me.

I had a lot of mixed results with the humble all-bolter squad. I get to roll lots of dice, and they sometimes won me games.

sure, it is nice to have a melta-gun sometime, but I still love all that dakka.

I actually am partial to lascannon/flamer/combi-flamer for the BA. I can see arguments for plasma, but I still use the las/plas razorback a lot.

I think missile launchers are crap as they are single shot hull strippers, or they fire ineffective small anti-infantry templates.

Probably work

How are people rocking their Tac Squads?

By slowly converting them into Grey Hunters, I think. I have 6 squads of Tac marines, the DV Dark Angels, and a squad of Grey Hunters. I think I'm done with vanilla marines, and I'm going to split my remaining marines into DA and SW.

If you're doing that, you might as well take the free Heavy Bolter and give the sergeant a stom bolter.

For me my friend, the good'ol Missile Launcher, Meltagun combo with either PF or Melta bomb on the Sergeant depending on points has never failed him, especially once he took my advice and combat squads the unit, keeping the ML guy in back and in cover while putter meltagun and Sergeant in the rhino...

Ultramarine, so YMMV for other marine armies.

Every game: (unless I'm doing something weird)
MM/M BP/CCW sarge, in a basic Rhino
ML/F Bolter sarge, basic Rhino

if fielding a third: PC/P BP/CCW sarge, on foot.
4th is usually LC/P, BP/CCW sarge, on foot, but it's not often I put 4 tacs on the table.

Either all-Plasma (PC, PG, Combi-Plasma), all-Melta or Flamer + LC + Combi-Flamer (combat squad the flamers).

Usually I'll take a combination from those 3, as points allow.

well, then I would shoot 2-less bolter shots a turn, and be firing snap-shots. also, the squad is nice and cheap with a rhino.

Being salamanders I like MM/MG with combi-flamer in a drop podand MM/F with combi-flamer and drop pod. I combat squad the flamers/meltas into the drop pod and have the MM's behind a defence line.

Tournament record: (W/D/L)
Space wolves : 1/1/1
Dark Eldar : 6/0/1 (1 overall win)
Daemons :8/0/2 (1 overall win)
Normal games starting 5/11/12:
Dark Eldar 13/0/1
Daemons 32/1/1

If you are worried about what is best, this is the correct answer.

If you are stuck on fielding the crumby tactical squad, then missile launcher and plasma-gun. It provides ranged anti-tank and anti-infantry, decent anti-horde and is as cheap as possible. Combi-weapon if points allow.

If you are running Vulkan, then of course the multi-melta/melta-gun, with a combi flamer/melta weapon on the sergeant probably.

I run two 10 man tactical squads. I only run them with one special weapon and either a MM or ML in a rhino or pod. Otherwise that is it. Keep them bare bone and don't try to buy items for the Sargent. Only buy a combi weapon if you have 10 points to spare at the end and a HQ can't take it.

i run a 2 man tac squad in my BA army. I usually give them PG & PC. If they are in the fray then they are to close, thats what we have DC and Assult Squads for.

I think our Tac Sqds are the way to go right now, we can field enough firepower else where to justify it. In my meta at least.

With my White Scars I go with missile launcher, melta gun and plasma pistol & power sword on the champ. I then combat squad them and put the melta and champ in a rhino whilst the missile launcher half holds onto a home objective.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

In a drop pod, with MM and plasmagun. Combi-plasma and meltabombs on the sergeant. Immediate high-threat to all target types.
