In the mean time, whats your favorite biscuit for a cheese board? Mine is a digestive. I like the grittyness. Not keen on crackers though....

Flavored crackers are fine enough, put plain crackers need a good dollop of butter and a pound of cheese to make them interesting. Now a digestive has a nice robust flavor going on already.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the support. I'm really quite nervous actually, as I start first thing Tuesday morning. I'm not sure if "digestives" are a thing here in the US. If they are, I hae no idea what the difference is between them and crackers.

Digestives are semi-sweet biscuits, good with sweet or savoury stuff. Probably cookies of some description over your side of the pond

Not sure what my favourite would be, I'm a big fan of the Hovis, but like a cracker too, guess it depends on the cheese....so for a cheese board I'd require a selection of biscuits

First day didn't kill him

I'm not busy at all. I'm a new salaried it guy without a Pc or accounts to do anything with.

No..not really. My gut is overwhelmingly telling me that I don't belong here. I still have the other job offer in my back pocket if all else fails.

hmm.... I can relate to that gut feeling, but since this is not only a new position for you but the company as well it is quite obvious that you will feel like a rectangle in a circular opening...(probably horrible figure of speech here...) I guess when the infrastructure you need is all there, then the feeling of oddness will cease...so clench your teeth, start coffeybreaks with your new fellow employees and mingle with the bosses secretary and then all will fall into place! I will cross my fingers for you!

It's not all that simple really. The Drive is 26 miles one way, it takes about 40+ minutes to get to and from. The town is really a backwoods, both in terms of intellectual capacity and teeth. There is nobody there that I can really get along with on a personal level, and the job is more of a Database Administrator and programmer role than was advertised. I am a desktop/server/network/infrastructure guy by discipline. I can certainly learn those disciplines, but I won't be happy doing it. If I'm not happy after 2 days, why would I be after 2 months or years?

I see your point but it will pay the bills for now, like you said you have the other job to fall back on give it a week see if you feel any different if not jump ship.

It is all very well working but it can be just as bad if not worst in a job you hate believe me, plus if the environment aint working for you either it will not play well with your health.

Sounds like it was a job not as promised.
