i recently bought some firewarriors from ebay and they are.....interesting.
Some have been painted white, some with a weird marble pattern. Most of them are in pieces as well. But for under £5 for 12 you can't really complain.
I intend to strip the paint using Dettol (can't get Simple Green in the UK, although i have heard that Flash Powerspray is good too). usual deal - soak for 12 hours or so and then scrub with a toothbrush.
My queston is this - should i repair/rebuild the models first, THEN try to strip the paint? Or strip all the separate parts, paint then ssemble?

Strip then rebuild. You never know what might break off when you strip anyway.

You should be able to strip most of the paint with the model in tact. Recently, I've been using an ultra sonic jewel cleaner to get all the nitty gritty left over from the first round of scrubbing. This process has forced some of the super glue bonds apart though.

From experience, I'd recommend fairy power spray over dettol. It doesn't smell, is less damaging and I'd say produces a better result. And i'd probably strip before reassembling them, it's be far easier to scrub paint off that way!

Fairy Power Spray all the way! I stripped some eBay job lot reclamations in a couple of hours at the weekend.
Dettol SUCKS as it does strip but the smell makes you nauseous, and you have to rinse with more Dettol to avoid the paint becoming a greasy, impossible-to-shift mess.

Ok, thanks for the advice.
Just spray the fairy on and leave it for an hour or so? or just srcrub it off right away with a toothbrush?

I spray liberally then bung all the stripping minis in a jam jar, spray more on then whack the lid on. Means I can slosh the liquid around a bit and means I can leave them for days and come back when I have time to scrub a batch!

Thanks for the advice. After searching i can confirm that Sainsbury and Tesco sell it for £3.50 per bottle.
Asda dont seem to sell it at all (at least it's not shwoing up on their home shopping website) and neither do either of the 2 Co-Ops i have been into.

They are absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend them enough.
I fill mine with about a 50/50 mix of Fairy Power Spray and water and have achieved great results. The only thing that FPS has problems with is enamel paints, but thankfully, I haven' t come across those very often.

Tried the power spray for the first time last night.
A...MAZ...ING
I think i left the odles in it for too long though (abotu an hour or so) as soem of the tiny details seem to have been affected. But maybe that's coz they are old tau models an the details weren't great to start with.
