I really thought this would mitigate flamers of tzeentch, as when they landed they wouldn't be able to roast an entire mob of orks or anything. But now if a single one shoots the dakka power instead of the breath of chaos, wounds go out to 18" away.
This is ridiculous.
What about rapid fire? If my whole squad rapid fires, do I kill out to 12 or out to 24", the range of the weapon?
Flamers are still OP but there might be a new dex soon...
Read rapid fire, it doesn't change the range.

The problem is that the assassin is killing the librarian, not the blob. Blobs have enough sarg's to effectively ignore the assassin.
Replaced allied librarian with a pair of priests. Commissar Lord has 3 wounds.
The Commissar Lord can last at least 1 turn, and everything else can do it the guard way (redundancy).

Tyranid Spore pods: The 2" move from the previus was that part of the base had to be within 2" from the drop spore. The new rule is that you need to be wholy within 6". So I gues you gain a little with with big bases and a lott with gaunts.

Indeed, it's awesome. I hated podding 20 Devilgaunts before because it was basically impossible to get all of them to shoot at the target, but now it should be a breeze.

I am surprised how many people didnt get this when 6th edition was released ....
If the models weapon is not in range he cant shoot. If your target only has 3 models in range of your squad you can only kill 3 models.
Even if you have a Heavy Weapon in the squad he is rolled based off of his own range. He dosnt give out his range to anyone else. Everything is done by model not by squad anymore.

So, if I get that right, if I know get 1 Destrotek in an Tesla Immortal squad will still allow the Tesla wounds to be distributed among the entire enemy unit instead of only the models within 24''?
Sounds wrong to me...

Except that's how it has been working since 6th launched. Now you just need a destrotek to make it work.

It, like most game rules, is an abstraction. It doesn't make any more or less sense than being 24" away from one guy in the squad and killing all ten guys in the squad instead of just him (pre-faq).

I don't believe it runs that way; it is not "one per five models", it is simply "one at five, one more at ten". There's no allowance for "one more at 15 and 20"

And his point was this isn't a change in how the rules have worked since 6th came out. But that you're waiting until now to whine about it.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

it would have been easier for them to write 1 per 5 models and that would have been truely awesome. But apparently they thought it too good so 1 at 5, 2 at 10 it is.
Still much better than it was.

It's basically like it was in the previous chaos dex, except it's cheaper, ignores cover and you can take an extra once the unit is 10 strong!
at least there is now a reason for me to not run 2 special weapons in a CSM squad, too. I think I'll have to take at least an autocannon or heavy bolter on each of my squads...
