I'm looking for a good RPG game. I don't care about what genre it is. Any suggestions will be very helpful

Fallout 1 and 2 if you like post-apocalyptic shenanigans. I would go Baldurs gate for your 3rd person RPG and Morrowind for your 1st person.

Fable: The Lost Chapters and Fable II. Ignore Fable: The Journey. Fable III is OK, but I sincerley recommend my first two.

Dark Souls.

I'll echo fallout 1-2 and add tactics if you want a tactical RPG.

Dungeon siege 1-2 are also great though they edge on being diablo-esque games. (and don't buy 1 on steam, they disabled multiplayer for some reason).

The witcher series is also fantastic.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Dragon Age: Origins.
The Mass Effect series.

Fallout is fun, but (apart from the 3rd game) a bit old, so it depends on how you can stomach the graphics. It certainly isn't expensive these days, tho - check out gog.com for details.

NWN1 used to be an awesome suggestion, but I'm not sure how the disabled authentication servers may hamper multiplayer enjoyment. And NWN1 lives from its multiplayer component - single player is okay'ish, especially with the expansions and some of the free fanmade stuff, but things are best when you get together with a bunch of friends to play something like the Aielund Saga or the A Hunt through the Dark drow campaign.

Man, Aielund was a good fan-made.

I think I have my copy of NWN laying about somewhere. I may dust it off!

At the risk of sounding stupid, 'Skyrim'? That ticks RPG boxes across the board.... But yeah, The Witcher is awesome, although quite adult themed, and have you thought about some classics? Try Emulation if you have a PC. Grab some classic 16bit RPGs, Final Fantasy 1-3 spring to mind. But there are 100's out there, just Google 'SNES' or 'Megadrive' Emulation.

The Rance series, though only a few of the 8 or so games are translated from japanese (and are very adult in theme, but the gameplay and story are quite good for what people normally associate for its genre)

Also the Tales series have been fun. Though I kind of preferred Symphonia out of all of them

The original Final Fantasies are quite fun if not a bit "wait where are we going again".

Golden Sun is also nice but can also suffer from the above I think (though I think the ds one was a bit of a let down, or at least as my bro tells me)

The Atelier/Mana Khemia Series, though the original ones which are untranslated are not rpgs but item shop managers. Slightly related to the Atelier series is Trinity Universe which is all around wacky (hey its got Disgea characters, what do you expect)

And speaking of Disgea I liked Phantom Brave, though it requires quite a bit of strategy so you can easily screw yourself if you try to take things slow

Ahem, also try the Ultima series, Particularly Ultima 7.

Also highly reccommend Fallout 1 & 2
Dragon Age: Origins.
The Witcher is also really good but a lot of people get put off by its messed up combat system. If you can push past it then it's really enjoyable.
Also highly reccommend is Demise: Rise of the Ku'Tan.

What's a good open world Medieval RPG kind of similar in style to an Elder Scrolls game? My favourite part of Skyrim is walking around the forests and stuff rather than the actual entire point of the game!

Fable - The Lost Chapters is medieval. II is mildly gothic. It's all open world, loads of humour, all that stuff.

It's also horrible and you can beat the story in less then 4 hour, without trying to speedrun...

I think you misunderstand the point of an open world game.

I have not, it was just my first playthrough and just did whatever the hell I stumbled on. And beat it the same day I bought it. Besides that, the game was a broken messs full of empty promises and I haven't paid a cent for a Peter Molyneux game since. That fethhead hasn't done a worth while thing since.... DK2 probably.

Now, now, he is overly ambitious. But I admire the fact he tries to do different things, rather than some other games developers *cough*Infinity Ward*cough*

Yeah if your looking for a good RPG the fable series isn't the way to go. One I'd recommend is the Knights of the old Republic, bit of a slow start but once it gets going it's an absolutely brilliant game.

In agreeance. I saw my bro play Fable III and it sure did look boring. I'd think I rather play through FF8 than that!

Also while they might not be the most textbook example of RPGs, I have found the Mario rpgs to be very fun (modern day names they go under are the GBA/DS ones and the paper Mario series)

Fable III was completely and utterly disappointing. As I said, The Lost Chapters and II are the best. I know this'll be interpreted as heresy, but I just found Skyrim... boring... It failed to grab any attention from me. All the people had personalities of cardboard, and it was too serious.

Indeed they did.

And to the one who said Ultima.....burn in the ninth circle of the abyss! Granted a few of the games where good but the last ones in the series ruined it all. You are now my mortal foe for making me remembering the plot holes, poorly done jumping sequences and such.

I'm sorry, ambition is not the same as blatantly lying about what will be in your game. He's an air head who can't shut his trap and spew forth bs wherever he goes. He's only delivered dissapointment after dissapointment in the last.. what, 10 years?

I wouldn't say disappointments. He can't meet his targets, yes, and they are definitely over ambitious.

However, there are people who actually enjoy his games (like me [who's apparently oddly unique.]). I don't want to make a massive row over this, so shall we agree to disagree over this and get back to the topic at hand?
