Feth... Erik Karlsson was taken out with an injury... Seems pretty fething deliberate by Matt Cooke. Was hit into the wall by Cooke, who then came down on Karlsson's left ankle... Sliced his achilles tendon.

That long break seems to have hurt Detroit. 1 shot in the third period, not good at all. That's two games in a row they've pretty much sucked. At least they got that point though, still ahead of the Blues, and technically Nashville now as well.

There was absolutely nothing malicious about the hit.
Cook was simply angling Karlsson to take him into the boards and pin him with his knee/leg between Karlsson's legs. It's a standard play that happens all the time.
Unfortunately, Karlsson was trying to stop so he wouldn't hit face first, and so Cook's skate came down on his lower leg.
Normally you'd get at most a skate burn or perhaps a light flesh wound - I've been kicked a few times myself when I played and never had a cut that couldn't be handeled by some super glue!
But NHL skates are pretty much kept at 'limb-removing razor-sharpness' as much as possible. (some guys will even have the equipment manager re-sharpen their skates after a shift if they feel like they've blown an edge!)
The Blackhawks play the Sharks tomorrow (Friday) Should be a great game.
The Sharks have the privilege of facing the only undefeated (In regulation) team in the NHL! (and the only team with 20+ points).

So, now that the Blackhawks won again today and are 12-0-3, Who do you guys think is the second best team in the NHL?

This has been a dissapointing year so far. People were forecasting that the Wings would fall off this year without Lindstrom, and now their crowing that they were right, but it really has little to do with that.
We've got so many injuries are team is just in tatters. Nearly two full lines made up of AHL'ers. Almost all of our offense comes from our first two lines, and after 17 games of carrying the team, their starting to get tired and can't keep up the pace.
If we want to salvage this season, we have to get healthy soon. Franzen and Bertuzzi need to get back in the game. Helm needs to get back. We've got to get our D back... Otherwise our 21 year streak will get snapped, and it'll be purely because we've spent a quarter of the season so far being the Detroit Griffons.

Nice, Sens are tied at 2 with the Maple Leafs, and while they're playing... I'm trying out NHL 2013... not bad, I'm learning a lot about the game just from playing it... I think I had 1 goal and 3 or 4 penalties in my first game... third game... I'm up to 7 goals... most hockey isn't like this lol...
