Damn... that martian looks good. I didn't want it to look good, so I could ignore it : (

I know it's extremely late but wow... that terrain looks great. Glad I've got a few heading my way.

The Martian looks good. Especially for its size. I'm going to assume he was digitally sculpted and that's why he looks so nice. He does seem to convey the feel of the old Topps cards. But, I don't care about just one figure. Are we going to see some others from the line? I'm really curious to see what the human opposition is going to look like.

I'm also pleased with how the Asterian Cypher looks. Makes me glad I'm going heavy on those for Deadzone. Those panel lines are going to make it much easier to give them a proper Tron paintjob.

Spoiler:

I didn't realize at first how tall the cypher is. That's really impressive. I thought it was only human sized, but it doesn't look that way next to everything else in that case.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

For some reason it reminds me very much of some of the Covenant vehicles (Hornet?) from Halo.

Might that figure in the case directly behind the Martian be a human from Mars Attacks?

That Teraton MVP is quite large. Would love for the infected teraton to be about the same size.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

It's the Gabe MVP model.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

And the Mantic Blog has just shown Gabe's rules

You mean the "Banshee" flyer, I think.

But I do see the similarity. That purple tone and the protrusions definitely give off a Covenant vibe.

Yeah, that's the one, Banshee... Wasn't purple when I got it, but the feel was the same just from the sculpt. Smooth curves and panel lines.

That's right you painted the dang thing.

I can definitely see it now that I think of it as bare Manticanium.

I never even realized that Gabe was supposed to be the character from Penny Arcade. I hadn't noticed the Pac-Man logo on his chest either. It all kind of makes sense now though.

I suppose it would have been clearer if he'd been painted up in his trademark yellow and black.

Here's my own pic of the mech... looks fantastic! Standing next to some Terataons

My pic of the Nameless didn't really come out, but they looked great. They didn't have the giant / mech equivalent one in the case, though, so I missed seeing it.

Note that the martian was also in the case, and is Really small... just to keep in mind.

Thanks for the new picture. That mech does look amazing. If it ends up being anything like the cost of the Iron Ancestor, I'll probably get more than one. I've been amping up my sci-fi gaming (using a variety of rules sets include Warpath, Bolt Action, Aetherverse, No Limits, Fast & Dirty 4, Chain Reaction 3.0, Gruntz and others) and those mech will be perfect. I think I'll give them a shoulder mounted rocket pod and a under-arm gun of some sort. Like these Paulson ones:

^ Thanks for that. I picked up another large Warpath army for £46.

I've been going a bit nuts with the discount buys lately (bought undead and orc armies last week, despite having hundreds of KS basilieans in the mail), but Mantic is priced so low that when you see a big sale on it and the price goes well below $1 per mini (or, sometimes $1 for 2 minis with the deals I've been getting lately), it becomes a no-brainer.

The Dreamforge stock is cheaper than it was during the kickstarter.

Summer is definitely the time to buy all this stuff, more people are outside etc. rather than doing "indoor" stuff like wargaming so naturally all the sales for the industry pop up in the summer.

EDIT: New Dreadball stuff!

They're all wonderful, I especially like Barricade.

I absolutely love the strider/mech. That thing is so awesome. As is the robot trike. And the terraton. They're all asking to have weapons put on them (underarm, shoulder mounted, etc.,).

Deadzone Update!

Mutations
Update #107 · Aug 23, 2013 · 12 comments

So, how goes it in the land of Deadzone?

Well, we’ve got our resident photographer working overtime to get all of the Deadzone miniatures and buildings photographed so that we can finish off the box, cards and counters.

Speaking of which, here are a couple of the designs:

These are just some of the counters - there’s over 130(!) in Deadzone!

Once all of the photography is done and processed, we’ll be showing off the finished models over the next couple of weeks whilst keeping you updated with all of the latest sculpts. We’ve taken the feedback on board regarding the Peacekeepers and have made some alterations and we can’t wait to show you those!
Messages

Just a heads up really on this one - we’re a little swamped with messages at the moment and will answer your queries as soon as we can

Thanks for your patience!

Invoices

Please note that not all invoices have been sent out yet – with over 4000 of them to process and manually send out, it takes us a fair bit of time.

We’ll let you know via the updates once we’ve sent them all out - until then please do not message us asking where your invoice is, thanks

Good to see progress, really looking forward to this stuff arriving. Nice colour choice on the counters!

I think it might be newsworthy that Jake Thornton has been posting updated playtest versions of the various faction decks - the last of which was the Rebels deck (including faction missions) -

http://quirkworthy.com/2013/08/13/deadzone-faction-deck-rebels/

The others were published on Aug 12th and 13th as well.

Maybe links to those updates should be a regular feature in this thread, too. I've found reading the discussion thread on Kickstarter to be a serious chore...

Keeping the Peace
Update #108 · Aug 30, 2013 · 27 comments

A couple of weeks ago we showed off the Work In Progress Peacekeeper models. Well, we’ve taken your feedback into account, and here we are with round 2!

Before we begin, please bear in mind that these are still Work in Progress and not all of the options may make it onto the sprue – that depends on space. However, if you’ve got your favourites let us know, and if there are any cool gubbinz or extras you‘d like to see on the sprue, please leave your suggestions in the comments.

As we said previously, everything we're showing here is Work In Progress and not all of the components may go on the sprue. We're particularly keen to know what people think about the Charge Maul, and what fun extras you'd like to see with the kit!

I'm loving the new peacekeepers. At $2 each, if they look as good as the digitals, GW won't sell another terminator ever.

Not to suggest ill-will to GW, just that the renders are that awesome so far.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

These are looking pretty cool.

And with the equipment options, they're pretty clearly going for the throat of the terminator kit.

One thing I really like is how the power fist hand isn't excluded from gripping the weapon held in the other hand if you want, it allows them to have more natural posing.

Agreed!

I'd be willing to bet that they don't make the final sprue cut though!
