Dreadball news via KS

"We were expecting the shipping to be done by now, but we had a slight delay with some items - following the recent survey it turned out we needed not only a lot of the Gabe, Drake, Chris Nord and James Sylar figures, but more of the Season 3 alternate sculpts, prones and keepers than expected - they've been very popular! They're now being cast in metal but as we cast our metal figures in-house we're able to take them straight from the mould to your Kickstarter shipments.

The detail on these premium metal miniatures is sharp, and it's easier to remove mould lines. They're otherwise just as easy to work with as the plastic ones that the rest of the DreadBall range is made of. Metal miniatures cost more to produce than plastic ones, but there's no extra cost to you - you're still getting the same great Kickstarter prices on these teams! As further reassurance, our casting wizard Alberto is a legend when it comes to quality control, as you can see in the link above!

We've spent several days putting the last pledges together and we're aiming to finish shipping the last of the rewards next week - we'll post an update as soon as it's done"

bit puzzling that they didn't twig they needed more of the figures before now, but I'm not too fussed if my stuff ends up as metal

good to know this will soon be done and dusted and they can concentrate more on Deadzone & Mars Attacks

I'd much rather wait than get a mini in metal. Having one or two metal minis when everything else is restic would constantly irritate me, that said it doesn't affect me.

Nice sign sherrif!

Hmm I guess given I'm still waiting on mine I'll be getting a mix. I don't mind one or the other but I don't really want a mix in each team. Have to wait and see.

I had a look at the the ultimate stuff in the local shop on Friday and it looks great. I'm not one of those people that gets bothered about retail getting it first particularly when an 8 player team is €18 and I got a 16 player team and Prone Marker for $21.25 (€16.50) from the KS.

Newsflash:

Deadzone officially launches in February 2014 for £59.99. HOWEVER, there is a pre-release edition launching as soon as the Kickstarter copies in November have shipped. This is a limited 5,000 copy release and contains a metal limited edition miniature - "likely the Survivor". Once these have been sold, DZ won't be available as a separate game until Feb 2014.

For reference on the scale, the initial KS and pre-release copies will amount to more than the entire first 6 months of Dreadball. That's before the game is even officially released.

I've also been reliably told that there will be "Loads of stuff!!" available for sale at the open day.

Please remember that the OFFICIAL release is Feb 2014. Once these pre-release copies have sold then that's it until then.

Woog thanks for update. Impatient for November. When is open day? Is it before the expected November release? Would be nice to see real unboxing before we get our goodies.

It's the 30th November. Copies will hopefully start turning up in the week leading up to that.

So we should start getting dead zone shipments in November?

I'd imagine it'd be more the last week of November if we were.

Yeah they say late November, so I'm pretty sure last week is a safe bet. Here in the states I'm expecting very late November or potentially early December. Still quite happy about it though since I was expecting Xmas at best before they updated.

They should start going out in the last week of November, but I would expect early December for overseas deliveries. Also with the sheer amount of orders that need shipping it's a good possibility that they won't all get shipped out before the end of November.

Edit: I should also clarify that this is not 100% set in stone yet. This is the current release plan and expected dates. If everything arrives on time as expected then it will go ahead as planned, but I'm sure everyone understands that things can go wrong.

How is everyone feeling about the game rules themselves? My gaming group fell apart so I have not got a chance to test the beta rules.

Good news is I got 3 people interested in creating a new gaming club.

I wonder if my first Deadzone shipment will beat my final DreadBall shipment to my house.

Update #115

Oct 18, 2013
An exciting delivery!

It's been a rather exciting week in the Mantic office. Why, you ask?

Our Finance Director (and international man of mystery) Mark went to visit our production facility last week, and he brought us back a Deadzone box! It's got exciting stuff in it, too, but today I just want to show you how awesomely massive it is! That's an Enforcer in front of it. Look at how tiny he is in comparison! For anyone who doesn't know how big an Enforcer is, I also put it next to a standard AA battery for comparison purposes:

Yeah, it's pretty huge. It measures 45cm x 30cm x 11cm (more or less) and it's pretty heavy, too! This beast will be making its way out to backers very soon now, just as soon as the main shipment reaches us...
Apologies...

...to anyone who was having trouble viewing images in our previous update! Looks like Kickstarter was doing something strange, as several people reported problems. Good news, though! You can check out the update in your browser by following this link.
...and something to make up for it!

Speaking of cool pictures, we've seen a few comments asking for more pictures of miniatures. How about these?

yeah, I think we can all agree that the Marauders are looking pretty badass. How amazing are those Ripper Suits? Surely nothing can look as cool as that...

Well played, Rebs. Well played.
Oh, and one last thing

Our Mars Attacks: The Miniatures Game Kickstarter campaign is two weeks in, and it's been an amazing ride so far! It's great to see so many familiar faces from Deadzone over there, and if anyone else wants to come over and join the fun we've got a few Early Bird deals that opened up last week. We're going to be closing them off at midnight on Sunday, but until then you've still got a chance to snag a deal - and get your hands on this exclusive Field General Tor miniature!

That's all for today - if you've got any questions, as ever, get 'em in the comments below! Keep an eye out for next week's update... oh, we've got some exciting things to show you.

That Mars Attacks stuff at the end is a bit cynical, but, who cares!

All of those miniatures look better and better, the more I look at them.

Pretty cool looking box design as well from the first glimpse.

Yeah, we can't. We really can't...

Everything else looks pretty good though.

I agree with you on the fact that we can't all agree, obviously!

And while they may not be everyone's cup of tea, and while they may not be 'badass', I do kind of like them!

Certainly more than I initially thought I would.

Of course what everyone really wants to see is all the hard plastic stuff - terrain, Enforcers, etc.

Now that's a post I can agree with on all counts!

I didn't care about space orks before, now I kinda like 'em. And I definitely want to see the hard plastic stuff!

Emphasis mine.

Yes, it is close enough to release that we should be seeing those things soon. I cannot wait.

Sweet, so it looks like we might be getting our Deadzone shipments before Thanksgiving? That's great news. Hell, before Christmas even is great news. I think Highlord Tamburlaine and I are going to have to have some large scale gaming sessions over the holidays this year.

Shrug, I'm with Mantic in liking/loving the Marauders. Others won't enjoy them. It's marketing propaganda to say that everyone finds them badass: if they tell you that everyone loves them, and you don't have a forum like this one and skip out on KS comments, you may say to yourself "well, I didn't like them, but if everyone else does, what am I missing? I'll give them a second chance. Maybe I'll buy a set of them after all." It's marketing. Doesn't make it or them right, it's just a business decision that isn't actually harming anyone, but might help them make an additional sale. Quite a few people have changed their opinions on them since their inception, that should speak volumes.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I think they turned out pretty good. But, I liked them even when we saw the initial sculpts, so who am I to judge?

They never ever bothered me. And now I quite like them. I think the faction (along with the rebs) has the most character. Kind of like a ragtag force of ex-military, kind of a Firefly/A-team vibe to it if you ask me. Enforcers are just numbers, plague are even less than that. Rebs and Marauders just seem to have more going for them in terms of campaign fun-itude.

That is a neat box. I get two! They will need an even larger box to fit in the rest though. UPS/Fedex guy better eat his Wheaties or bring a dolly that day!

That's assuming I don't end up in Japan again this season.

Just remember my kids already called dibs on Plague.

I might roll with the Marauders since I assume you'll be using Enforcers?

Are any mercs shipping with the first wave? I don't remember any more.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I wouldn't hold your breath for Thanksgiving I'm afraid. If Mantic do get the shipments from suppliers shortly after the 23rd November as planned then it'll still take a few days to process the orders and then however long it takes to ship from the UK to the US. I'd expect a few people in the UK to start receiving orders around Thanksgiving, but nowhere overseas.

Are there any pics of the Dreadball season 3 booster sets and keepers?

I'm wondering if mine has gone a bit wrong...
