The only problem was the risk of bad minis due to problems with KoW and Dreadball. That risk doesn't seem to exist for the restic we're receiving since we've seen production minis that looked great. We'll need to keep an eye on the hard plastics in wave 2 but Mantic said they'd be up front about it and let us get a refund and so on before they send them out so that shouldn't be an issue either, at worst we can't get burned and the stuff might all come out in restic instead of hard plastic.

I'm glad they showed us the production models and there shouldn't be any more nasty surprises for backers. I'm feeling much better about adding funds to my pledge manager. Of course, real plastic would really get things going, but the restic looks better than I expected based on past experience.

Actually I just realised how incredibly rude I've been by not thanking Mantic, it's so easy to bombard them with questions or complaints, I should also be saying thank you for all you guys have done well.
Thanks Mantic, keep up the good work.

Agreed. The thing to bear in mind is that even nkleltch who cops a lot of gak here for his views (some of it warranted, but a lot of it unwarranted) isn't chanting for the downfall of Mantic and wanting them to go out of business. So the rest of us who are bitching about things from time to time are predominantly doing so from a perspective of wanting to see Mantic do the right thing by both their customers and themselves, which is generally the same thing. Unfortunately, a lot of the choices in the last year or two have been, well, perhaps "good" for Mantic short-term but bad for their consumers, and will end up being bad for Mantic Long-term - pretty much every part of the chain of events with the MAA after the concept art - who the feth is going to buy those by choice?
So yeah, good to see them making an attempt to right the ship's course, rather than repeatedly trying to jump a reef. A much, much better effort recently, James.

James, (or anyone here, this may be generally known), is it certain the Warpath Kickstarter will launch sometime in 2014? Or is that still being debated in the Mantic bunker?

"Certain" is a word that terrifies me.
However, we're very, very interested in the idea. We've got a couple of other things that we'd like to do first, mind... a couple of rather extreme ideas.

As much as I think Mars Attacks is awesome, I have been eyeing up the bigger-than-a- GW-Rhino Trucks for sale at $12.50* each and thinking "Man, if only this was the Warpath Kickstarter and those were Corporation APCs".
And that's before you even get into stuff like the $20* robot mini that's the size of a GW riptide.
There's definitely a lot of very interesting smaller stuff you could do (DKH 4 having the most potential IMO), but as far as "chomping at the bit, want it, need it, will make $3 mil+ easy" interest from Mantic fans, Warpath Kickstarter is where its at, would love to see it next summer.
*taking bundle discounts and pledge level discounts into account.

So, lets think about it: give me a warpath KS at the end of Q3 2014, and my wallet will be ready for another round. Before it, i will probably stick with the extremely necessary stuf :/
Also, please lagoon83, tell me you are talking about a big sized paquiderm with a horn in the nose
And Scarletsquig, you are not the only one thinking that way...
and Mantic, I demand that you give me plastic Forge Fathers (good looking ones)

@James: Ah, you're right, thought it was 140mm long for some reason. Looking back over the update, they're still very close at least.
Speaking of the latest shiny things - here's a new shot of the Silverback Truck. For scale, this thing is approximately 120mm by about 50-60mm wide, and is designed to actually carry 5-6 figures!
Rhino is 115x75mm so the Truck seems to be a touch longer but a fair bit narrower? Still really great for the price and I think they'll find their way into my DZ/Warpath stuff at some point regardless.

Hm, people i was wondering if there is any "deal" of Mars Attack with only martian stuff...
Thinking about it, those are great for a "count as" Tau Empire, great stuff to go against (or at side) of my planned Forge father Army
I mean, how those saucers would look counting as Tau transport ships? And the big robot is an invite for a Riptide count ass...

I really hope they can get the plastic sorted out shortly, as I expect them to do a Warpath Kickstarter in june, and If I'm right there is going to be a ton of vehicles and additions to the armies.
Those models look fantastic, and I'm glad the enforcers got a bulkier ankle. Also if you look through the pages you can see the enforcer special teams painted up, and they look nice.

Because the movie made them shorter than they were in the original cards (and the relaunched cards / comics), which is what we're licensed to produce miniatures of.

One of the big things with Deadzone was to get hard plastics right so we could do vehicles. Looking at the terrain, yeah. Yeah, we've cracked it.

Here's my thought... All during the Deadzone KS, I was day-dreaming about Warpath. Ironically, since then, I have become utterly convinced of the value and cool-factor of DZ as its own entity.
As such, give me a honkin' HUGE Warpath KS in June, with classic Mantic value, vehicles, huge volumes of models, etc... and make an early stretch-goal DZ cards/rules for any brand-new models that happen to be introduced.
That's right... just as DZ was my launch into Warpath of a sort, I want Warpath to also have hooks for DZ. Think of it as making Warhammer 40k, but acknowledging "Kill Team" thus making both products even richer for it!
Mostly, Warpath.... KS.... gimmie. I will give you all the money I made from working on Deadzone, and then some.... no joke. :-p
