Gah still wishing I was in this 'first wave' of shipping Currently ogling Miniature Market's black friday deals, some crazy cheap mantic stuff in there. The 5-pack of enforcers we're getting to hold us over are something like $8 over at MM, half tempted to nab a few even though I already have too many enforcers coming. Given my luck with lines and queues though, they may be the first enforcers I see by a long shot =/

I saw that sale too, by the time I got to my computer all the good matinc stuff (army bundles etc.) had sold out. I went ahead and picked up the enforcer set you're talking about and the captain to expand my Deadzone enforcers.

I also have not gotten any shipping notification on mine. Maybe UK backers are getting theirs first seeing as how Mantic is based there. Oh well, we'll get out soon enough I suppose.

Yeah, I'm just impatient and super jealous of them since I'm not used to waiting this long to get minis and I'm soooo excited about Deadzone in general

I should have held my tongue Squall, the 10-pack was like 11.25-50 or something, even better deal. I'm considering picking up a drakkarim and storm rage veteran squad to break down and disseminate them throughout my bargain basement steel warrior squads.

I need to stop looking now. Already spent far far too much on models this year!

I'm a little bummed they are prioritzing British packages first. They would get their stuff the fastest anyway. There is almost a certainty that the America's and EU are gonna see some post Christmas deliveries.

Is there any actual confirmation that they are shipping to Britain first? Or is it just that there are more people who post here from Britain who happen to have gotten their orders shipped? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just genuinely wonder. If that is the case I'm definitely glad I just ordered a suppression team half price from miniature market's black friday sales lol. My bad luck with lines and waiting will probably have me getting crap on the late side, I was the 13th juror recently (which means I had to watch everything but didn't even get to 'vote' at the end =/ ). Of course I did do courier shipping so that may help, *fingers crossed*.

They are prioritising those who paid extra for courier postage as far as I can tell regular packs won't be sent by UPS but by local mail via Royal Mail.

Isn't it that they are prioritizing the people who paid extra to get their stuff first?

I'm located in VA and most of the stuff I have ordered from Mantic take 7-9 days. If they are in the process of shipping this stuff, I can't imagine it taking till Christmas, even if it has to go to the left coast. That being said, they promised delivery on Dec. 2013, so they are well within their time frame. And in KS terms they're pretty much 6 months early.

Or whose packages are so heavy that courier ends up being cheaper! But yes, I think they always said they'd prioritise courier stuff.

I thought the states stuff was going over in one big load to be distributed locally?

Yep update #117 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/deadzone-the-sci-fi-miniatures-board-game/posts/645692

Also anyone who paid for Courier shipping will be the first pledges to be despatched, and then we will quickly roll through the rest of the orders.

I'm just making an observation that all those saying "I have got my UPS info" are from Britain. I paid for Courier as well. I'm just not seeing anyone from the states or Europe saying they got an e-mail.

They had to start somewhere within the courier shipping, and they chose the closer guys first. As I said, just an observation. Overall I'm glad they are starting to ship in November.

Normally I wouldn't care, I'm leaving mid-December for an assignment. Fingers crossed.

Don't forget courier shipping was free over a certain amount.

Courier Shipping was mandatory for Suppression team or above but I don't recall it being free over a certain amount.

@SS WHAT!? Where was that written down? If that's the case then I paid $15 I didn't need to, cause if I'm getting both resin masters, surely I was over that amount =/

@DaveC ahh now that sounds more like what I remember, and would imply that I did not in fact overpay.

That doesn't quite sound right. I think "regular" shipping was eleviated at some point for EU and Canada, but Courier was always an add-on from what I recall.

This is the relevant file after they updated it:

http://www.manticblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Deadzone-KS-Shipping-Calculator-US-UK.pdf

As you can see Suppression team+ has tracked courier included, and later they ditched the whole "pay extra if FF/Asterians" thing and then changed it to $20 of add-ons to qualify.

As I recall, with Dreadball the US/RoW packages were shipped first to try and get everyone's stuff arriving at the same time (after that it was EU, then UK). As you can imagine, this didn't really sit well with a lot of UK backers. Maybe there's some redress going on, I don't know.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Yeah, with Dreadball I wasn't to pleased that loads of backers across the water got there order well before me when I live just down the Motorway!

Well thinsg to consider (not actual facts)

- Space - the quicker they can get stuff out, the more they can get in. The DZ KS is larger than any they've done before and it will be a feat of coordination to fit it all in - hence the new warehouse.

- UK backers may be sent with a different company than US (this is a complete guess) who will have different protocols with alerts.

Okay, according to facebook *everyone* is getting courier shipping after Royal Mail started whining and moaning about something or other and refused to ship it at the last minute.

Maybe Mantic told them that some of the packages would have more than 4 pots of paint but they weren't sure which ones.

Royal Mail? More like Royal FEMail with all this bitching, AMIRITE FELLAS?!?! /jk

Damn needing to sleep, missed a lot of excitement. Glad the shipping is progressing nicely. I'm still dirty about the metal minis situation, but other than that, really happy about the KS.

edit: On the Royal Mail 4 paint thing, just got a change.org update form the petition (sign it please!) the reason given was "risk of damage to other packages". However, they'll happily ship 1 litre of whiskey in a glass bottle still... so not very well thought through and should be open to change with enough attention brought to it.

Hrmm I wonder if they're bumping everyone to courier if those of us who paid for it on purpose are just gonna be out the equivalent $15 or not. I'm still getting a stupid deal and all that, just curious.

In all fairness, Mantic did say straight up during the KS, in the update with the chovar in it that the chovar might not be restic:

@Adam Fair - at this stage, there is no guarantee that the model will be resin plastic like the factions are. That decision depends on how many we sell during the Kickstarter. Also, this model is 40mm tall - I think you'll agree that $10 is pretty good value for something that big :-)

Source: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/deadzone-the-sci-fi-miniatures-board-game/posts/480461

They also said that it'll have individual ball and socket joins for each tentacle, so that one's going to be a bastard to assemble.

Chovar is the tentacle thing? In Metal? gak. I'm actually quite happy to get metal for one-piece models, but a multipart figure like that thing really needs to be in restic or plastic in 2013. It's almost as bad a choice for metal as those named Basiliean Angels were.

A hard build? Challenge accepted. I haven't done anything difficult in a while. True, I would prefer such a thing to be resin or plastic, but oh well.

If the UK guys really wanted their stuff first though, couldn't they pop in for Open Day? Seems like they have options those of us living on on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean don't

Not fretting over Chovar assembly. Some of the metal Warjacks for Warmachine have been HELL to assemble, requiring, I mean REQUIRING a bunch of pinning, etc, and even then it taking a small miracle. If I got "Spriggan" to hold, anything else is gravy. :-p

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and MiniatureMarket just saved my a fortune. The prices were so obscene that I thought i'd pick up a few armies for Kings of War and Warpath, but almost everything of note sold right out.

Meanwhile, i'm BARELY able to stop myself from picking up Warpath models, but I need to remember that Deadzone is my WP primer, and next year the biggest Kickstarter ever is going to take place. :-p

The UK is still a somewhat large place, and who wants to go outside in that horrible weather they always have ; p

If anyone is unhappy about the metal situation, please chime in in the KS comments. A few people have, but many more are just saying "yay metal, thanks Mantic!". imo Mantic need to know that yeah, metal is fine - just be upfront about it.

Still... excited ; ) Pretty sure that my 3x strike team++ will be couriered due to weight, but damn all you plebes getting courier treatment too ; p /jk

Runnin up on ya.

So, do we need to worry about any other material surprises when we get our boxes? I had thought that Mantic had said they were going to notify backers of material changes and give us the option for an exchange/refund. Or was that just the enforcers?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

They said that specifically in relation to hard plastics. They still seem to think springing metal on us is fine - please post in the latest KS update comments if you disagree. Here is my first comments to them and there reply:

Yonan wrote:Thanks for the update, it's all looking great - except for the metal minis. Thankfully they're the only two I didn't order (was going to in wave 2), if I had I'd be really irritated. If Mantic wants to have variable casting methods, ie. metal if there is low demand, it should be said clearly imo. The only reference to materials on the KS page is "the miniatures will be supplied in coloured plastic". A comment in a random update that they might be metal isn't enough imo. I'd hoped Mantic had learned from the Dreadball situation that springing metal on people was a bad idea. At least this is before shipping so people should (hopefully) be able to get their orders fixed if they want.
Other than that (which doesn't effect me in this case), awesome stuff!

Mantic wrote:@Yonan - We never said what material the mercs would be as we weren't sure what volumes people would order - doing things in plastic in small quantities is very pricey, so metal is our go-to for small runs of miniatures. Until very recently, Mantic mainly produced metal miniatures - the sprueless plastic we now use is a relatively recent development. (Glad you're happy other than that though!)

Yonan wrote:@Mantic You *did* say what they would be - from the KS FAQ "the miniatures will be supplied in coloured plastic". If that didn't apply to some minis, it should have said so. What you've done in the past is irrelevant to what you're doing in the KS people are giving you money for. To give us something that isn't what you stated it would be isn't acceptable. If it might be metal that's fine - just say it up front.

And no reply since.
