If it isn't too much trouble, when people post up their cool creations, would it be possible to list how many Battlezones were used to make it? (This one took 2x Core Universe and 1x landing pad, etc.). Would just help to give the rest of us an idea of what structures you can get out of the sets.

And if you can't be bothered, at least have the courtesy to say "get stuffed, Vermonter. Count the tiles yourself."

I can't really tell you that, Vermonter.

I've just taken a load of random bits that I've cut out and stuck them all together.

I will say, that's a fraction of the amount of stuff I've got. - However, it does seem I've used up a lot of walkways and railings.

Yeah I just grabbed 2 landing zones, 2 core worlds and 2 fortifications sprues, still got a big box of core ive not touched!

Next one I build I'll try and keep count.

Is there anything people would like to see?

I am hoping for a library of cool builds to be built up, so I can shamelessly copy them

Yeah, someone had mentioned making an ongoing here's what we've put together /painted for the scenery style thread. Probably at home in the mantic forum since it's not really one person's blog or a single project, but who knows. I don't reckon such a thread exists yet, and I'm loathe to start one w/o having scenery of my own yet

Does anyone know if the scenery come with 'instructions' and/or examples and how to build them?

Just got my shipping notice, should be arriving Tuesday. 11kg (or 24 lbs.) of gaming goodness. I'm starting to ask for shelving units for Christmas in anticipation.

No instructions, although there might be in the scenery set. I don't think there's any specific builds Mantic have in mind, it's just a lego set for nerds really.

I'm done with poly cement fumes for the day and have started taking the flash off some Rebs, love the new restic formula they've used, it is sooo much easier to file than the old stuff, doesn't do that spongy resistance then go all stringy crap, it files off pretty much like hard plastic does.

Excellent, thanks Compel. I'd like to start one but again, no terrain of my own yet

@Ronin_eX I just got a 39 drawer mini organizer thing to sort my bits into. I'm afraid I may come up short for space though!

@Alpharius, I don't think there are any instructions. Actually... do any mantic kits have instructions? I know some of the KoW stuff has a little helpful booklet, but I haven't seen anything in my warpath stuff yet.

I've just put together one marauder myself, the running one.

Was pleasantly surprised by the new formula restic, cuts so much easier than the old stuff.

The marauders are fantastic sculpts, I can't really believe how much better they look in person. Im looking forward to the ripper suits in particular which seem to have no mold lines at all. The only disappointment were the broken goblin snipers but I hope Mantic will replace them.

hmm think I'll spend the next few hours playing around with some more scenery ideas.

To be honest, Mantic are quick lacking on the instructions front. - Even the new Deadzone enforcers, althugh admittedly MUCH easier than the normal ones do very much have a case for me going, "what the frik is this?"

- 'This' turned out to be the body of the new Engineer dude.

I'll take any pics of Deadzone stuff - but I'm especially interested in:

1) Terrain pics - especially assembled stuff!

2) Miniature pictures - hopefully showing that the mold lines aren't as bad as I've seen in some shots.

Enforcers straight out of there baggy.

Very slight mold lines, slightly warped base on the combat enforcer.

The chinese snap points seem to be on the connecting points which will be hidden once they are assembled which seems true for all the new figs.

The old enforcer weak ankle problems gone, the new legs looking much superior.

There should be no problem removing the mold lines with the new material which is much more like hard plastic to cut and file.

I had some difficulty with the mold lines on my Engineer. The sniper was fairly good and the Rocket launcher guy seems pretty much perfect.

A closer look does show the engineer to be the most tricky of the set. The enforcer captain you can almost push together. The one thing people may not like is that the cape is not completely separate from the body, theres a tiny bit sculpted on the front and back.

I'll see what I can build with just 2 core world sprues next.

Just got my shipping notice from Fedex. I'm excited to get the game but I'm more then a little disappointed that the terrain is not easily assembled and disassembled. I intended to use Deadzone terrain on an as needed basis until I could commit them to a much larger forge world realm of battle project. Guess I'll have to keep them in the box until ready. Oh well!

Honestly, nobody with any experience with modular terrain expected to assemble and disassemble Deadzone every game. Even the very simple Necromunda stuff takes a while to set up.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Also, the Enforcer Sentry guns are surprisingly cute...

I'm going to name mine Dummy and Bob.

I had to work with Necromunda terrain in my old game store. It might have been tough cardboard, but it was still pretty easily damaged. The plastic stuff was great, but could break easily. I look forward to seeing the Deadzone stuff, and I'm going to be putting a bunch more terrain on my second survey. More marauders too, I think. And another pack of Rebs, since I think I need two...one for me, one for a friend.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yup, Zero experience with modular terrain so maybe I was a little unrealistic in my hopes and expectations. Does not take away from Deadzone though I was just hoping to use the terrain from Deadzone for a bad ass Tomorrow's War table as well. Just a bit of a let down.

Or the excuse I need to buy those Forgeworld Realm of Battle Boards lol!

I still think the terrain is fine to switch about every few months or so.

It might be worth having good 'sub assemblies' in mind though, so you're not redoing every single piece.

Other stuff I remember from the seminar:

- Warpath, lots of stuff about Warpath.

Mantic is pretty much done with having any interest in riding on GW's coat-tails as far as Warpath goes. Nowhere near as much 40k/ GW fanservice stuff in future.

It is more interested in going for GW's throat via straight-up competition. Ronnie wants to rely on Mantic's own background, its own IP, own terrain, own mats, own rules, own everything, done on its terms without taking into account GW and only providing 40k compatibility in some models as an afterthought. General idea is that eventually even people who are right now saying "Oh, Mantic sucks, I only play GW, nothing else" will be won over by sheer quantities of hard plastic (fom the sounds of it they're looking to gear up for 4 hard plastic kits/month once they're done validating the new production method), sold at even more aggressive pricing than what they have currently. The plan is to out-compete GW directly, on all fronts, with superior rules systems, and minis of equal quality sold at around a quarter of the price.

They really don't want you to be playing 40k or making it cheaper for you to play 40k, they straight-up want you giving their own games a try.

This will filter down to the rules too. Warpath will focus on 100 models + vehicles for a typical 6x4 game, compared to 40k's 40 models + vehicles.

But the idea is, you'll be able to play that 100 minis game faster, easier and have more fun with it than the 40 minis 40k game. That is the goal, larger armies but faster gameplay, with lots of unit variety and like KoW, victories as a result of beating your opponent, not writing a better army list or metagaming.

Warpath 3.0 beta with go up when the kickstarter launches to be picked apart and playtested by backers (by this point a lot of people will have an army's worth of Warpath just in DZ models anyway).

Awesome news!

Incidentally, I just found a problem. The rocket launcher guys integrated base is far too big to fit inside one of the main bases. - I'm thinking I need to turn the base upside down and just cut the integrated one off.

Good to hear SS. The gw boat is unappealing so I've signed on to the mantic ship sink or swim. If they beat out 40k with warpath then I'll have more people to play it with. If they don't, well I'm no worse off then I am now it really want ting to play 40k as it is.

A lot of big promises there, we'll see how it pans out. Currently Warpath is a bit creatively bankrupt from my point of view, with the Veer'myn being a particularly crappy concept.

I'm hoping for something creative that gets my attention from them in the near future, but if they want to compete with the likes of GW's tyranids they'd better be ready to make some stonking plastics.

Edit: One thing I will say is that I am more likely to want to play Warpath or KoW than 40K or Fantasy because I really hate the pointlessly layered complexity and legacy issues of both of those systems at this stage. 6th edition was a huge turn off with all those ridiculous fiddly rules. I want something I can explain to a newbie in 10 minutes and have them feel like they grasp the game.
