I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY'RE DOING THIS !!11!!!

This Summer, Mantic will be teaming up with the guys at Foozmeister Studios to produce a series of Table DreadBall games.

Joey from Foozmeister, making notes along the lines of “this is awesome”.

The prototype table features two sets of over-sized, chunky Corporation players in red and blue. If the Kickstarter campaign proves successful we will produce alternative sets with a suite of teams across the first three Seasons, and even the upcoming Xtreme teams when people go as crazy for this as we think they will.

I nabbed a spare casting to use as a Giga-GIANT in my games of regular DreadBall. It was glorious.

And Mantic miss out on what would surely have been their most successful KS ever because they thought they'd hit on a joke, and not a potentially lucrative business idea.

The challenge of people not knowing what they want? Seriously, how hard is it to just wait until you're sure and fill it out once?

I did that. Then I changed my mind and decided to add a couple more things. I did that twice. This makes me either stupid or a bad person. Maybe both.

Apparently.

Conversely, how hard would it be for Mantic to wait until they could show everything on the survey before they ask me to fill it out?

When they open it for a long period of time, some folks go ahead and fill it out right away. Then Mantic makes a change to one of the products, or releases info not previously available about one of the products, so some of those who had 'completed' their survey decide to make changes based on new info from Mantic. Mantic self inflicts a lot of the pain they feel.

Runnin up on ya.

Yeah, I was confused about the terrain until Scarletsquig came in and cleared that up. Odd though that the contents are wrong everywhere (i.e. Miniature Market and Mantic's own site); I hope they clean that up soon.

I'm still confused as to what or isn't in the boosters and bundles as apparently the Kickstarter page is incorrect as well? Confusion is the biggest reason that I didn't add anything to my survey. I'm kind of a completionist but there was too much mucking about with what is included here or there.

Once a KS ends they can't change the front page... the lists in the survey contained the exact counts and such

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke

I get that now but when it's been a few months...that and I'm too lazy to dig through all the updates to find what's actually in where. It's all due to my laziness; I couldn't be arsed to dig through updates or search up a content list. I'll just wait til retail and pick up what I want/need then.

Much the same, but as was previously said that actually wouldn't be an awful idea. I doubt I could afford to have such a thing shipped across the pond though.

Still, that's something they should think about putting in Mantic HQ somewhere.

Still hope for them to do a follow up Dinosaurs Attack! expansion with completely ridiculous looking scientifically inaccurate dinosaurs.

Mutant and zombie dinosaurs would also suffice. And I guess a few accurate ones for good measure.

Battlezones are out for retail:

Landing pad:

8 sprues, 2 connector sprues for £20.

Fortified district:

8 sprues, 1 connector sprue for £25.

Watchtower - 6 core worlds sprue, 1 connector sprue for £15.

Defence line - 2 defence line sprues, 1 connector sprue for £10.

Prices are a little odd, the Watchtower set is a really good deal and actually the same price as the kickstarter, only with 2 less sprues.

Landing pad set is pretty good too, they changed the sprue counts to give you an amount that fits a single pad a bit better.

Fortifications are a little pricy, as is the £10 defence line set.

And yep, I was just getting to the large £50/ $75+ sets. Trying to figure out which ones I might want to buy and running the maths.

There are two £50 sets, urban sector and fortfied sector:

Urban sector: 19 sprues, 3 connector sprues for £50.

Fortified sector: 20 sprues, 3 connector sprues.

So, if you want fortifications, the £50 set is the one to buy, much better value than the £25 set.

And finally the £110 mega set is 46 sprues and 8 connector sprues.. which isn't actually all that good value... there's a small bulk saving, but not much. If it was £100 it would be alright, but as it is there's really not much of a deal there at all. £120 can get you 8 core worlds packs for 48 sprues and 8 connector sprues. So, if you want the contents, get it but otherwise there's really not much in the way of big mega bundle deal going on there.

Also, don't buy the £50 urban sector unless you really want the accessory sprues... the £15 for 6 core worlds sprues set is way better, three of those will get you 18 sprues and 3 connector sprues for £45, whereas the £50 set only gets you one extra sprue.

TL-DR - Buy £15 core worlds set, £50 fortifications set, £20 landing pad set. Ignore the rest.

The £110 set does include courier shipping in the price due to the size so that's part of the cost at least, not sure that would really cover 6x4 all that well depends on what you build and how dense you want your terrain.

Overall a nice range of options at a variety of prices for those that want Urban Sci-Fi terrain, I hope that mantic have a big hit on their hands with these sets.

Yeah, the £50 sets are looking a lot more reasonable than the cheaper ones.

However, what it looks like Mantic hasn't done, as far as I can see at least, is made these battlezone sets available to independent stores.

I'm sure they'll be popular enough and 'earn their keep' just being sold from mantics website, but they need to be properly boxed and put out there if they're going to become the new default sci fi scenery sets.

Those sets are pretty cool, even if some of them are worse deals, I think having the wider range for people to pick up on blind/impulse buys or for people who just want specifics is a good idea.

I love seeing what you can do with these tiles though, may have to steal their little fortified building with the gate and the 130 connectors to make more interesting defense line shapes.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Mantic sets are almost universally better priced the bigger they get it seems. Maybe not the new urban quarter, but most of the army sets seem that way.

Are those red squares fan vents? That's a terrible design for a landing pad - the weight of an aircraft wheel/foot on one of those would collapse right through Hopefully the other side of those panels is different. Good that it's significantly cheaper than the Skyshield, though I think the Skyshield looks slightly better out of the box.

They are just optional parts that are on the sprues, so I guess they wanted to use them somewhere on the promo pictures

So which were the terrain sprues that got added to the second survey but weren't in the first survey or the MA one? Mantic's barrage of kickstarters and surveys and changes has gotten me rather confused.

Mantic DeadZone Update 138 wrote:This resulted in a brand new terrain sprue that you can use to upgrade the scenery you’ve already got.

This new sprue – the Deadzone Scenery Expansion sprue – includes:

- A ramp.

- Wall tiles to go alongside the long edge on the triangular floor tile.

- Diagonal Walkways

- 135 degree Pillars

- Additional connectors, such as the crane

- and more!

This will allow you to customise your battlefields even further. You don't need this tile - but it does offer some more great modelling choices.

Ah! Thank you. I just got one bundle of those, but I did get some. Not sure if that'll be enough or not.

The landing pad looks a little better with the connectors underneath rather than on top.

Also, the fan vent tiles have it has an optional piece so it can be an open hatch if you want... or you can just swap out the whole tile for a core worlds floor tile instead if you like.

I'm not sure if I'll make any actual landing pads, but the triangular pieces and defence lines will be really useful for making the stuff I do want to make... lots of octagonal buildings with a raised walkway system connecting them with straights, t-junctions and crossroads.

When the ruins come out, that will form the bulk of my deadzone terrain.

According to Ronnie in the video put up yesterday, they'll be available for independent stores "in April", after Adepticon and Salute, so yes they have
