That comparison pic is very helpful . I like their zombies, and Tre Manor's from RBG... I wonder how they'd mix (probably not all too well as Tre's are likely a bit smaller... but you never know).

But between these, Mantic's, and RBG's, we certainly are spoiled for choice for sweet zombies these days and mixing the ranges seems like a viable option to get more variety (although these are a tad more "futuristic" than the others, despite being WWII looking).

Got my Puppetswar order in last week, and finally got a chance to dig into it this afternoon. Since this was my first experience with a 3rd party modeler, I figured I'd snap some shots to give a review. I ordered the "Thunder Crow" fighter and the side-mounted Gatling Guns. This was before the Thunder Crow was taken down and replaced with the Fighter/Speeder combo kit, so it only had the Flyer canopy but included all the side mounted weapons options. I'm not sure if it's at all common or not, but it looks like half of my order was made out of a different, darker resin -- Those pieces are also much sharper and cleaner, so maybe they were from a new mold?

My other theory is that I actually got a few pieces from the discard pile by mistake... A few of the weapons had slight miscast issues, like the ammo belt on the "not" heavy bolter and one of the gatling gun ammo drums.

Additionally, the main body and bottom panel were really rough around the edges... Maybe that's normal for resin, though? Someone with more experience mind taking a look?

Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a solid product. I guess I'm just left wondering, "Is what I got normal, or did an accident occur with my order?" The rest of the pics (and larger images, if needed) are here

Is there any word on when we can expect to see the "Space Warriors" back in stock and ready for us to order again on the online store? I was really looking forward to getting quite a few sets for my gaming group to paint up very soon. we love trying out alternative sc-ifi models and these looked great. Any hint to their re-release would be appreciated guys.

It's not normal. Sometimes you might get a little bit of mold slip on the edges, but not like that.

In other news, I opened a PayPal dispute with Puppetswar just now.

Hello guys,
As I stated to you in email before, I have only 45 days of PayPal protection coverage. My order was initially supposed to ship in 5-7 working days. Your webpage later changed it to 5-15 after I placed the order. I received no communication until I started posting on forums.
It was Placed on Feb 1st (AU time) and shipped on Mar 8th (AU time). This is 35 days later. (25 business days).
As the order has obviously not arrived and we are now at 40 days, I am forced to open a dispute before my PayPal coverage expires.
I do not intend to escalate to a claim until this new timer runs out but am not willing to sacrifice my buyer protection.
thanks,

Not much they can do in reply at this stage, nor do I expect them to since it's in the post. I wonder what happens with PayPal buyer protection if my order arrives and the casts are as fethed up as that shown by other posters? On one hand I'd like to pick up the full range of Egyptian heads from these guys and some whirlwind turrets, my buyer experience has not been positive so far. I'll update once the items arrive in hand.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. And with their web form broken and my e-mail on the fritz due to an ISP change, I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up. It's a shame, but if the product I get looks that different than the sample, no way I can justify another order with them.

If you have any access at all to your old email (outlook on your PC?) then you should be able to chase it up. At worst, email them at their company name as one word @gmail.com and tell them your name, address and approx ordering date along with what you ordered and they should be able to look you up and contact you back.

I can still access the e-mail -- The issue just comes from that account being provided by Service Provider A, and now that I'm using B, outgoing messages can't access the outgoing mail server. Incoming messages aren't hindered at all. I suppose I could send my issue to them via my Hotmail, though, since I have all the info, including order number.

PW has been very up and down for me. Generally great-looking kits with great or terrible quality of cast. Superb customer service or brutal, knock-down difficulty getting any info after months of waiting.

That noted, they have some really neat stuff. I'm just dreading going through this bag that finally got here to get proof shots of all the various casting issues and trying to get those items replaced.

Follow up on my "OMG SUX" post; credit where it's due, my free replacement plane arrived very quickly, ridiculously well packed The model is much, much better, a lot less excess resin and bad mouldings. Just generally superior. Much happier now.

AND, they also sent me some free Ork heads! Mexican, Nazi and Russian! Thanks!

Still waiting on mine, I haven't received a tracking number or any correspondence since the initial. Where are you located?

From their Facebook page, 3 WIP shots of a new Jetbike. I daresay this has so much potential, assuming they can get their casting-issues resolved.

Possibly one of the coolest jetbikes Ive seen. It might explain why they showed off that teaser pic of the "space warrior - exploded view", they are probably using them as "artist mannequins"...

Nice! I am sure I saw some pics of an updated version of the current bike on BoW as well. I hope they can fix up some of the casting issues because when they do, I will be all over their stuff!

I'm still waiting for them to put the "space warriors" back up for sale on the website. I'll be all over these jet bikes as well, they really look nice.

I emailed Puppetswar last week inquiring about them and no reply so far. I'll post here if I hear anything back from them. I really wanted to get some of these minis to check out. I hope they re-release them soon.

I emailed them a few days ago. Those things were awesome, and even though they weren't the ulta-poseable ones, I still want them!

That Dragonfly is so awesome. The website mentions an upcoming troop transport variant that will likely put a large dent in my checking account. Mr. Puppetswar Community Rep, if you read this, do you know when we can expect to see the Dragonfly Troop Transport?

Discontinued or just temporarily taken down?

Anyway, I finally got my order. Just looked through it.

The Good:
  • They threw in a gakload of extra shoulder pads and heads - and a turret to make up for the long wait time

  • Very well packed on the outside. Bubble wrapped satchels

  • Sculpts are excellent.

  • They threw in a free flying stand for the Dragonfly.

  • The Bad:
  • Lots of flash in each piece (easily fixed)

  • The resin is very "itchy".

  • Not quite so well packed on the inside (lots of stuff thrown into the bags. Luckily no breaks)

  • 1 Shoulder pad missing (Not-Night Lords)

  • 3 of the World Eater shoulder pads are completely filled in on the shoulder side by excess resin. 2 more are a bit messed up, not sure if fixable.
(there were no extras of either of those shoulder pad styles - I'm not so much of an arse that I'd complain about faulty items that I got extras of - I'd just take those as replacements if I had a few extras of something that was faulty of same)

  • 7 weeks from ordering to delivery

  • Almost every mechanical piece has mold slip, air bubbles or miscasts. This includes the new release side weapons, which I'd hoped would be better, being newer.

  • The Dragonfly. Notes below:

  • Almost every part of the Dragonfly has what I'd consider a fatal flaw in it - in terms of messed up edges, air bubbles - or resin overflow obscuring details or overflowing into gaps where other bits are supposed to slot into. If I were a much better modeller than I actually am, I might be able to salvage most of it with a Dremel and a lot of time. Sadly, I don't have the tools, skill or the inclination to try to fix it. Basically, I regret having purchased it. It's future is either sitting in a box unassembled to be disposed of after I die or "crashed aircraft" terrain. I should have just gotten the other heads and shoulders that I've been wanting to buy for the last 8 months instead.

I'll get some pictures up, probably next week over Easter. I'll send the pics to Puppetswar and post them here at the same time. I've got Sunday left of my weekend, and I'm in much too poor of a mood right now to do so, and I'm not going to spend an hour of my Sunday doing it this weekend.

Would I order again? I don't know. They have great designs, but it seems like the larger the model the more problems they have. Maybe heads and shoulder pads. Possibly Razor Turrets. It'll depend on how they take care of the issues, but I'm not happy with the turnaround time. Really though, I fething hate having to ask companies to fix stuff - especially when there's a lot of stuff.

Sounds to me like Puppets War need to have a good long chat with one of the other skilled resin casters out there and figure out how they can improve. For them to have so many bad casts it must be the fault of the methods they use (and none of that garbage about a "discard pile").

I really want to order from these guys but until I hear some improvement is happening I will have to sit them out. I can live with the long wait times, multiple kickstarters have hardened me to that! The big problem though is that I would want to get the quality products the way the appear on the site, not like some of the stuff we are seeing and hearing on Dakka.

Yeah, it's not the "nature of the beast" since I've never gotten anything but perfect (and I mean perfect) casts from Kromlech, Maxmini and Anvil. It's a shame, because their sculpts are amazing.

Very interesting... the problems with the casts has definitely kept me from planning to order anything. I really hope they can post up what they're doing to fix their casting, because their sculpting is fantastic.
