They're going to be late... I'd estimate even a month later than if you were to adjust for the delay on Wave 1... so instead of March and May... July and September?
Gosh I hope not. I don't want to be torn between building those beautiful Black Widows, an internship in an inner-city school and work...

Look at how much the first "wave" was delayed. Expect that much time between when it was first announced on the KS and when it actually gets done. I doubt there's much that can be done about it.

Mark said earlier that there was a very good chance of a delay since they hadn't asked him for things they should be asking for to meet the deadline. Of course, Chinese New Year might have played a bit of havoc with timetables there as well. I'm sure he'll let us know when he hears one way or the other, but I'd expect a delay for the time being, and hope that there isn't one.
Even if they slip, I'm sure I'll be quite happy all the same based on Wave 1. I'll write up my thoughts in another post in a bit.

It would be nice to hear when the next wave was coming, but I have enough to do already. It will get here when it gets here.
I've started making some progress on Ada.
I'm still not sold on the splinter camo for the rest of my troops. It's tedious work. I may just stick to the dark yellow base coat for rank and file droptroops.

Looks good! You could keep the splinter camo for the more elite (smaller) special units, and the regular bullet-catchers can be in a more basic scheme. Help the elites stand out better too!

Got my "your stuff has shipped" email 6 days ago, (it was sent on the 6th) but apparently it didn't make it out before China closes down completely for the New Year, and now it's obviously just part of a low-priority backlog and won't even leave HK for more than another week. All because they were "held" so they wouldn't arrive here before US backers got theirs. So no chance of seeing them for close to another month, since HK mail still takes at least 2 weeks for a normal sized package.
If they were sent FROM the US, I could expect to see them in hand now, this week or next week.
/sigh
Item Number Origin Destination Delivery Status Event Date
CPXXXXXXHK Hong Kong Australia The item will leave Hong Kong for its destination on 1-Mar-2013 18-Feb-2013
That does suck.
Was there any proof of them being held for that reason though? I've seen you toss that out a few times, but I'm not sure there has been acknowledgement of it.

Since you asked nicely, and Hulksmash is being a bit silly about it - it wasn't a conspiracy, it was, well.. this is what Mark had to say:
Update# 89 was not a happy one.....
Your packages shipped from China to Hong Kong on the 30th. They left Hong Kong bound for the Pacific Rim countries yesterday. Paul from WGF will be sending the tracking numbers out in the next couple of days.
I just got off a call with China, and I owe all of you an apology. When we discussed shipping to Australia and the Pacific Rim we wanted to time the deliveries so that they coincided with the deliveries in the US and do something nice for a group of people that typically get late deliveries. Unfortunately whoever was looking into this aspect and the expected delivery time was in error when estimating the time in transit. What should have gone out two weeks prior was held in China under a misunderstanding of the actual time it takes to make the voyage.
Basically, we screwed up and turned what should have been a positive into a negative. It goes without saying that those affected and myself are not happy about how this turned out.
The true time in travel will be about the same as if we had shipped from the US with the main shipment being processed now. It is very frustrating that a miscommunication and oversight led to setting expectations that could not be met; I really don’t know what to say other than I apologize. If I can make it up to you with the next two phases, we will get them out the door within a few days of the container leaving for the US. I know that for those of you with just stage one deliveries this is not helpful but unfortunately there is nothing I can do to change what transpired, I can only learn from this mistake, apologize to you and make sure that we do not repeat it.
Sincerely,
Mark Mondragon

So anyway, it's still in HK not due to even leave for a few more days. Interestingly, I ordered some eBay stuff from HK last Thursday which will be here tomorrow or the day after, so it appears that WGF-China have sent it via what I can only generously descibe as an Economy service, as it was posted on the 6th and isn't leaving the country until the 1st - even allowing for New Year, that's 11 days after the conclusion. At this point I'm just praying that they didn't send it via Surface (sea) mail.
@Hulksmash - As I've said more than once, most people here are (generally) pretty good and pretty reasonable. People in the comments sections of Kickstarter have repeatedly shown themselves to be far less so. Mark is quite responsive, and I understand that this mess wasn't his intention at all. I can only hope that subsequent waves do get sent out when they're ready direct from China rather than being "held" again, and are sent by a more efficient method than discount sea turtle. (Transit time will be more than a month when they eventually arrive)

They made a change to ship directly from China hoping to get them to you at the same time as the US backers. That's not holding them for the US backers like you've inferred. They were originally going to ship to Australia from the US. They tried to shave time off. It didn't work but saying they were specifically held so the US got them first is plain incorrect.

Well it seems like my parcel is waiting patiently at the post office. Strange that the tracking info never changed in the 20 days is was dawdling around the continent! Unfortunately it got taxed but that must mean that it is a huge package (sed wars and dreadball both made it to me unnoticed). This is going to be one fun weekend, even if it has been four months in the waiting!

And now, well, that it seems that WGF-China (note - NOT Mark) seems to have sent them via the cheapest method available, since it's unusual to say the least for things to sit in the post office for just shy of a month (2012 Lunar New Year holiday was Feb 9-17) - which is 1 week + weekends, not 3+ weeks. Again, not Mark's fault personally but an unusually large delay, even allowing for an inevitable backlog over that period. Being realistic, I'm assuming that they were sent from China primarily to save money on postage. Getting them earlier would (have) just be(en) a nice fringe benefit. The item will leave Hong Kong for its destination on 1-Mar-2013 On another note, it's good to hear that Discount Games Store will be stocking DFG stuff - now I have a source for Mark's stuff! My last order with them took only a week to arrive last week. I've requested their latest product list with a special request for DFG. I'm keen to get some of the regular infantry which I ran out of money for in the KS - I went in for 2 each of the 28mm Levis, 3 each of the 15mm ones, 4 extra weapons for each, and a bunch each of heavy weapons, heavy assaulters, and of course, the ladies.. I wonder if a DGS order might arrive before my Stage 1 pledge? Automatically Appended Next Post: Yonan wrote:Those really are sweet minis aren't they. Probably worth picking one up for that very purpose. The unhelmeted heads seem to be sitting pretty high though - so they look a little unnatural. I'll probably have to shave down the neck ball a bit, so their heads sit lower, and so the neck guard above the gorget looks like it might have a purpose. The helmeted heads seem to sit at the same height, but do so without looking like they have the same odd (giraffe-neck) misproportion. The question is really between going for something simple and good looking like "German" grey (like Warzone Bauhaus - which these could also stand in for), something like a flat Feldgrau or Dunkelgelb (maybe with chipping and wear) or a much more time-intensive scheme like Pea Dot or Autumn (my personal faves). BTW, for WW2 German camo schemes (or any camo schemes), this is an excellent resource for anyone interested: http://www.kamouflage.net/country/00136.php bah! quotes!

I see Miniature Market have the line in stock now as well. Looking at the prices of what I received, it feels refreshing to have taken part in a Kickstarter that delivered such a high quality product, reached goals far past where it started and provided everyone who backed such a huge discount. Looks to be a win for everyone all around. Still kicking myself for not adding the Leviathan.

This is mostly correct but there are details that were not in the announcement. I am not writing this to argue over the facts, clearly it was a complete disaster, and I just want to shed some light on what transpired to get us to the current state.
The reason we sent from China was not to save money… When we discussed this option the costs were higher than shipping from the US. When the USPS rate increase came into effect the shipping costs were very slightly less than shipping from the US.
We wanted the Pacific Rim to receive the delivery shortly before the US although we realized some would be at about the same time as the US depending on their location. The person checking on the delivery time was in error when it came to the estimated delivery time required and reported the wrong information to myself and China. Due to this error the delivery was not rushed out the door as it should have been if we were to meet the delivery dates that we were trying to achieve.
The second issue at play was that China did not have the shipping list as WGF needed to have all the Pacific Rim participants respond back with address corrections for those that had moved. There were five customers that did not update their shipping address promptly and this caused further delay.
China discovered the error when the packages reached the HK harbor and made the call not to ship via air due to the costs involved. This call was not made by me but it was their understanding based on the conversation with HK post that the items would ship and arrive at about the same time as most of the late US or early UK/ EU shipments, they felt this was still acceptable and made an on the spot decision, in hind sight had we known how the next steps would have played out they would have bitten the bullet and shipped air.
What transpired next was the final debacle; HK post accepted the shipment after communicating the expected delivery date (which was wrong) and they promptly sat on the delivery until the start of the Chinese New Year.
We made several attempts to force the shipment or call back the shipment to re-rout via air but HK post was unable or unwilling to aid us regardless of the previous estimate that they provided.
All in all, it was a cluster f@7k, the perfect storm of misinformation and events that led to the current state.
Hind sight 20/20, we would have had WGF start getting address corrections a month earlier when the cargo container first left for the US, we would have shipped air, regardless of the costs due to the impending Chinese New Year.
The question I have now is if it is even worth sending ANYTING through HK post… due to the constant miscommunications and utter inability for them to keep to the estimates they provide I just don’t know if attempting to ship through them again is worth the issues that are created.

LOL. No, I missed that. Was concentrating on which edge faced to the front and missed the rim facing. Will swap out Ada's shoulder pads, but the other two troopers will be paint test dummies.
Suggestion for Mark:
Paint up a number of figs is basic colors (white, olive green, dark gray, light gray, red, blue...) and post them somewhere so people can get an idea of what they look like in different colors.

Boy I hope those wave 2 estimates are on track, as I would love to get all the 15mm Leviathans and arms in that shipment instead of waiting on wave 3.
Hip hip, Hooray!

@nosegoblin any idea when/if these will be on the wgf website? Also seeing lots of different rrps listed on the different sites, didn't know what was going on if they are adjusting up the rrp just to look like a bigger discount, or if the price has changed already.

Ada WIP:
Slight conversions include removing the eagle plate on the chest and lowering the angle of the right arm a bit. I decided that I'm going to paint these in a Stormtrooper white, plus the colored marking from the Clone Troopers. I bought them to use as soldiers in Blasters and Bulkheads, so that fits perfectly, I think.
Still need to modify her hat a bit to make it look more like the Imperial Navy caps from the original 3 SW movies, fill in the gap on her modified arm, and add a gluteal plate to her armor. I'm also thinking of adding a bipod to the gun, and perhaps wires running from it to the backpack. Not sure on that yet.
Observations: I need to work on more non-"heroic" scaled models. Some of the parts felt tiny even though I have worked on figures this size/scale before. The detail is excellent. Well placed and well molded. I'm very happy with hem, and wish I had gotten a Leviathan now. :(
Mark: If I can make a request/suggestion? Make a helmet sprue, or add an extra or two onto the Black Widows. Good for scenery and for adding helmets to our Ada figures.
Hopefully I'll be able to get her finished this week, but I move slowly when it comes to this stuff, so no promises. Lol.

Miniaturemarket.com has some stock on hand. The Leviathan is listed at $90 which is one dollar more than the KS price. Obviously you don't get the bonus KS items but it's still an amazing price for an amazing model. Eisenkern box sets there, too.

@breotan they must have adjusted prices earlier today it was $120 with rrp of $150. Glad they are a twenty minute drive from me. I called them earlier this week and their mail order person hasn't heard or seen anything about them. He decide to buy one today.
